If you’re a weaver, you probably know that this isn’t an ideal end to a weaving project! I have been avoiding finishing up my looper rug project because I knew I was running out of warp. Silly, right? Like the warp fairy would come in the middle of the night and add 12″…. In all the years that I have been using the loopers, I never remember to add enough “take up” for the warp. (That means that the loopers are fat and take up a lot of room and thus warp.) The result is that I have ...

I've had a couple of orders for hand woven towels lately, in beautiful colors requested by the customers. First for Sarah....
These were all woven in 8/2 cotton from Webs on my rigid heddle loom (double threads warped in a 10 dent heddle, double weft as well for inquiring minds).
And now my loom is empty, but not for long, I'm sure! read more
My concentration is still iffy but I have managed to get a few things done and a lot started!
One fun, little project I have been doing is making pillowcases. Knitters love making socks, weavers love making hand towels and quilters love making pillowcases. We have always used bolster pillows on our bed and when we were first married, I embroidered our initials on them. When I got over stitching our initials, I bought unusual cases. But it was the wonderful quiltmaker, Jane Sassaman who really inspired me. Scroll to the bottom of this blog to see the delightful cases ...

These are the Stay at Home Sampler blocks from Temecula Quilt Co on Instagram, 14 - 3" blocks so far.
I made a stitchery block from Marg Low Designs - it is one of the blocks from the Love and Hugs from Australia quilt along on Facebook. I always wanted to try out a little stitched block, and this was lot of fun. I enlarged the pattern to make an 8" block and turned it into a little wallhanging. It is 10"x12".
I spun up a ... read more

This is another kit from JST, called Sassy Brassy Log Cabin. I bought a few different weaving kits to learn new weaving techniques (this one is log cabin weaving), and now that we are renovating the basement I am glad to have something to make. Sewing on the dining room table is definitely not like sewing with a proper cabinet, so I won't be able to do too much sewing for a while - I was able to bring the weaving loom upstairs, but the sewing machine cabinet is too ... read more

I started March 1st getting the warp ready, and have started weaving. The kit makes 9 towels.
I also plan on finishing the Mystery Gnome that I started last month,
Because a girl can never have too many hobbies, I've added inkle weaving to my list. Several months ago, my friend Chris introduced me to these little band looms. Off we went to the weaving store where I acquired one of my own (for the record, I also talked Chris into buying another for herself.)
Here's my inkle loom loaded into the car. We went straight back to my house where Chris helped me warp it up....
This is the first band I wove, about 1 inch wide. The selvages are a bit wonky but I am otherwise ... read more
The first one is another mystery gnome - Gnome is Where You Hang Your Hat by Sarah Schira. We have had 3 clues so far. I am using handspun from a local raw fleece.
This one is Twice as Nice by JumperCables.
I am using some handspun linen and silk along with some silk gima (ribbon) that I dyed with the fibre.
The fabric weaving is coming along nicely.
I think I am about half way done.
All the best!♥︎ read more
