What Kelli is Reading: On a Quiet Street from Jo's Country Junction

Kelli has been busy listening to books. She recently came across a couple of duds that she decided not to share with all of you. With today’s book, she finally landed on a book she was willing to share. The book is On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach. Kelli writes: “I liked it pretty …

Upcoming Events from Quilt & Textile Collections

I’m interrupting the research to give you an update about some coming events. We’d love to see you at some of these in person events or via Zoom. In some cases, they are both an option. My long-awaited research trip to Philadelphia and New Jersey is coming up the end of May. I’ve located some original sources and I’m hopeful that will shed light on these Northern Style Cut-out Applique (NSCAs.) Thanks to AQSG for providing some of the funding for the research trip. On June 1, I’ll be presenting on NSCAs, with my presentation ...

What I’m Reading: You Can Trust Me from Jo's Country Junction

I was in a hurry to grab a book and took the first audiobook that looked like something I wouldn’t mind. It was listed as a thriller and I was ready for something that wasn’t historical fiction. I ended up grabbing this book, You Can Trust Me by Wendy Heard. The book started by catching …

April Showers Bring Aloha! from Words & Stitches

First,  my apologies for the late post.   We are on island time and I lost track of my days!  Thank you to Joan for putting all this together!  She always has the best groups!

However,  I was in a bit of a home unproven work and travel frenzy and my planned project never made it out of the starting gate.  However,  I did manage a bit of slow stitching on a herd of kitties!  Full disclosure, my friend did the creative work on these little guys,  I’m just (awkwardly and slowly) doing the final stitching.

Each cat is designed ...

Decades of Decibels from Dueling Threads

Who’s your favorite uncle?

It isn’t often that you get a call, and you immediately know the caller wants something, BUT, that whatever they are going to ask of you might actually be fun, so you let them talk you into a “Yes”. In this case, I became immersed in my first full T-Shirt quilt that I have dubbed “Decades of Decibels”.

I can’t claim design inspiration on this one as my uncle knew what he wanted. He had taken time to inventory and visually lay out the shirts he had collected from rock concerts over the ...

Cross Stitch Finish: Chubby Bunny from Jo's Country Junction

On the day before Easter, I squeezed out a finish of my Chubby Bunny by Jeanette Douglas. This was only of our stitch-along pieces. Here it is all finished and in my dough bowl. I ended up doing a tart pan finish. I had picked up the tart pan at the thrift store some time …

AUCTION TIME: Bid ’em up!! from Jo's Country Junction

I am doing a quick auction here to help out the postage fund. A kind blog reader sent in a bunch of quilt tops to Ray. They are vintage tops and we felt they might do better as auction items rather than finished quilts. We know all of you like vintage goodies and these would …

Kelli has another book to share with us this week…We Love to Entertain by Sarah Strohmeyer. Kelli writes:“This book wasn’t my favorite.  I started to peg the things right off the bat that were “off” and that someone was trying to set someone else up.  My guesses as to who and how were a little …

What I’ve Been Watching… from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve been trying to keep track of what I’ve been watching on television. I know all of you like ideas for shows to watch as much as I like ideas for shows to watch. Nothing makes me sadder than when I finish up an amazing series and have to hunt a new series down. So …
