Honouring moments in time from Stitch and Yarn

Giant wonky snowball quilt

When my oldest niece, Olivia, turned 13 my sister decided to commission a more grown-up quilt for her. There'd been some bedroom shuffling during lockdowns, and with plans for renovations it seemed a good time to celebrate a milestone birthday with a new quilt.

My brief was this colour palette along with a picture of a doona cover Olivia liked, that featured an animal print. I set up a Pinterest board to share appropriate fabrics with her and got to work on some design ideas.

New Orleans Sidewalk Quilt Finish from Dizzy Quilts

I finished another scrappy quilt! This is New Orleans Sidewalk designed by Linda Graham and published in Issue 39 of Make Modern

I may have to cut up more squares from my scrap bins and make more of these quilts!

The sashing is Kona Ash ...

Very Hungry Caterpillar Fat Quarter Fizz from Goer

Begun in late 2015, when my son was 5, I am so relieved to have finally finished his bed quilt. And it's a big one. This twin sized quilt measures 72" x 90". The pattern is Fat Quarter Fizz by the Fat Quarter Shop.

The curtains are from before he was born. They matched his baby quilt.

I'm glad that I used the blue on the back so when he's tired of Very Hungry Caterpillar he can use the reverse side up. Fabric is all Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, made by Andover.

It's quilted ...
