Foxes, Frogs, and Flamingos. Find them all at Funky Friends Factory! from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

When I was a child, my grandparents gave me a brand new stuffed bunny for my birthday. He was white with blue and purple ears and thus, I named him Jelly Bean. For many years, he was my good friend. We read bedtime stories, snuggled together for movies, and hosted the best tea parties.

As I grew older, I played with him less and eventually stored him away. Today, Jelly Bean sits on a shelf in the back corner of my closet, but I still hold his memories dear and I cannot bring myself to get rid of him.

Something Fishy: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Something Fishy colour scheme by Clever Chameleon

Does something smell fishy in your inbox?

Fish balloon

At the risk of sounding obsessed with all things aquatic, yes, we are still on the theme of quilted ponds and fishes and such things here. Partly out of coincidence though….. I have been drawing up the next few patterns for the Love with a Twist quilt along and one of May’s blocks just happens to be the fish balloon. So I still have fish on the brain. Swiming Turtle Quilt from Polka Dots and Butterflies

This is the quilt Someone to Watch Over You by Barbara Bieraugel Designs.  It was made for a very special teen ,Sierra.  She picked out the pattern and helped me select all the fabrics.

I also extended the length of this quilt so that it would cover her from head to toe.  Wide quilts don't always cover the toes.

Toddling Turtle appliqué from the Love with a Twist series by Dione Gardner-Stephen of Clever Chameleon

Our second dose of small and cute for April

This month’s second Love with a Twist block is one of my personal favourites. Toddling Turtle. He’s cute, he’s friendly and he doesn’t take long to put together.

arm splint for buckle fracture

And he’s wearing full body-armour, which I think is what I need to install on my 8 year old! This is what happens when you let dads play with their sons unsupervised folks…. a buckle fracture caused by too much fun on the trampoline, followed by an evening in the paediatric emergency dept. Life…. it’s what happens ...

i've fallen . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

. . . and I can't get back up on the proverbial blogging horse!

I hesitated using that title since I have had shoulder surgery recently and didn't want to alarm anyone, but every time I went to start a post, that commercial went through my mind.  But I also couldn't bear to put a pic of a woman sprawled out on the floor at her most vulnerable hour of need (I know, I know, it's a paid actress).  Besides, the turtles are starting to show themselves in the sanctuary ... hibernation time is ending!

We've even found a ...
