charity quilts from Making A Lather

Our guild met on Saturday to sew quilts for charity. We donate to the police department for trauma children and for healthy families  and education. One of our members had her Florida guild do these large tumblers for their donation quilts and she wanted us to try them as well. We cut one Saturday and made kits. And this Saturday, we sewed the kits together for a quilt.

Maris made 2 ahead of time.

YAGOF from From the Strawberry Patch...

YAGOF = You're A Grand Old Flag! Yep, the Flag-A-Day project has progressed into YAGOF. This flimsy is made from the "Stars and Stripes" Thimble Blossoms pattern by Camille Roskelley, it measures 56" X 71".  I used a mushroomy beige/gray setting fabric; this quilt will be used on our new screened in porch this summer, it will live on the back of the sofa out there for comfort on chilly

I finished the binding on this latest tumbler quilt (this has got to be at least the fifth or sixth one that I've made) all cut from charm squares. I

this and that from Making A Lather

I had one of those sewing mornings, that I just couldn't figure out what to sew. I was in a funky mood and everything sounded blah. So I pulled out some oldies that are basically leader ender, until, I decide what else to do with them.
I used a bloc loc template set to make a few of the these blocks.

I sewed a few tumblers together.

I made 3 shoofly blocks.

And for added measure, I sewed two florabunda blocks.

And, then, I felt so much better.

Transitioning from From the Strawberry Patch...

I teased with this picture of stacked stars in a previous post. This quilt is a welcome transition from all those bright fabrics used when making Frank. This is a long-abandoned project that needed to be brought to the front burner. I am inspired by Country Threads and their "Dirty Dozen" challenge this year. (The premise: identify 12 UFOs and give each a unique number from 1-12. Each month a
