Halfway tulips! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

That is an odd title, but that is where I'm at with my tulips.  Halfway done.  Feels good to accomplish something!  "My Corona Tulips" is what I've decided to call this project.   We have been in lockdown since Dec. 26, 2020 and that is when this project was started.  During lockdown.  I'm glad this project will be pretty to look at as we need something pretty right now.

We don't know when we the vaccine is coming to our area.  So until then, we are wearing a mask, washing our hands and keeping our distance.  I ...

Making progress? from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Well, I do think I am making progress with my tulips!  Four rows done and all sewn together.  My plan is to do one row of circles and one row of tulips per week.  Only 9 rows total to go.  At this rate, this top might be finished by mid-March.

What else got accomplished?  These three chairs!  If anyone complains to me about the cost of having someone do upholstery, I will tell them that every penny is well earned.  These chairs were hard for us to do.  My hubby and I learned many things along the way and we ...

Making circles around the tulips! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

A surge of energy came over me and those tulips kept being made until ..... finally ..... all the tulips and circles were prepped.  This is it!  Mind you, everything you see is just pinned in place.  Now comes the task of appliqueing.   I'm happy.  I love this top!

One block of circles done ..... many more to go.

All those pieces have been taken down, marked properly and placed into baggies ready for me to work on at night while watching t.v.  My design wall is needed to work on an UFO.  That was my promise.  When I mentioned this ...

Time for Tulips? from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Not outside for many months to come.  But in my hands and on my design wall ..... I can create tulips!

A new project got started last week.  Why, oh why when I have tons of UFO's?  Because I just needed a new tulip quilt to put on display along with my other tulip quilts?  That is all the reason that was needed!  LOL

You see, a list was made of new quilts that I wanted to accomplish this year in 2021 and tulips was on that list.  The time was now to start if this quilt is to be ...

A Half a Year Later... from The Modern Diary

So I really need to get back to blogging and reading my blogs.  I miss it.  I have a few more days until the school year is over (teaching from home due to Covid 19) and we move to Milwaukee!  My daughter Hannah is pregnant with my first grandbaby (Coleman's wife has six kids and one grandkid but we never see them and well it is a long story...) and due the end of September.  We found a house about 15 minutes from her and less than ten from my video relay job (I am transferring).  I am so ...

Best of 2019 from Sew Preeti Quilts

It is January 1, 2020.  As I look back on 2019, I notice that there was a lot of pain and grief as reflected in the quilts from the Sacred Threads Exhibition.

For the Stillborn Bereavement Group
I made quilts for those who did not make it (Stillborn Bereavement Group) and for those who are trying their very best to survive (Soccoro Foundation Quilts) in hopes for a better life.

Soccoro Foundation Quilts

But in so many ways 2019 was a year of Badass Women. Whether it was the legendary spacewalk by the duo of Christina Koch and Jessica Meir ...

Rainy Day from Sew Preeti Quilts

Once upon a time...when I was still new to this country, I went shopping in WalMart.
I came across a pair of orange flip-flops with nylon mesh fibers. When I slipped my foot into them the fibers were pressed and I felt like I stepped on a cushion. It was cloud heaven for my feet at a bargain price of $3.99.  Naturally I bought a second pair and took it to my mom on my next visit to India.

Oh yes, I have a finish!

Several months later when I asked her if she liked her new flip-flops ...

My New Quilting Stencils from Nestlings By Robin

In 2018 I designed a whole line of
tulip themed quilting stencils.
Here I am with them in the Quilting Creations booth
at Houston Market...So Exciting!

I learned a lot doing these.  I assumed (HA) that I
could magically transfer my outline applique
drawings to stencil and I basically did.
What I didn't take into account, since I love
hand quilting, is that drawings for
machine quilters need to be more adaptable to
continuous line drawing.

Next time I will get it right:)
In the meantime, you can find all my stencils
on the Quilting Creations site.
Mine ...

Some Old Patterns, Some New Patterns from SEW, RIP, SEW

I'm still doing donation quilts but just haven't posted any for a while.

Two more quilts made with fruits and vegetables.
I mentioned before that fat quarters multiply in the cupboard because I still have more of these fabrics and will probably make more food quilts in the future.

I was looking for something in one of my storage towers and came across these flying geese blocks.  I don't know what I was saving them for so I sorted them because there were two different sizes and added a few more and made two quilts.
The binding ...
