Branson, Missouri from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to the "Show Me" state. Just now I had to inquire of The Google to ask why Missouri is the "Show Me" state. I found a couple of answers right here.

We backtracked our way out of Arkansas's state park yesterday. Fairly soon, we found ourselves crossing over the Arkansas River.

Looking out my window, it looked like this. It's a fairly large river.

Looking out Mike's window, it looks like this:

The Arkansas River is the same river we saw when we visited the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City ...

A Hike and a Half from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's time to move along again. By this afternoon, we'll be in Branson, Missouri, and we'll be adding another new state to the map. I'm telling you, the thrills never end here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch. We've enjoyed this state park very much. Mike said this morning that he could stay here longer. But with apologies to Robert Frost, we have promises to keep, and miles to go before we sleep.

We spent our last day well. Altogether, we probably hiked about 5-1/2 miles. It took most of ...

Cedar Falls Overlook from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We made good use of our morning yesterday. Rain was expected around lunch time, and so we wasted no time getting outside for a walk and to see the waterfall. Of course, we got Smitty outside before we left. He saw the biggest woofie walking nearby, but he held himself together, heroic cat that he is.

After that, we used the map provided by the park to navigate to the Cedar Falls Overlook. Along the way, we learned a little more about this park. For one thing, it was Arkansas's first state park.

Petit Jean State Park; Morrilton, Arkansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We've moved along to Petit Jean State Park in Morrilton, Arkansas. When I plan trips, I'm using this book to choose the best state parks in a given state.

Originally, I had one other park selected (Mt. Magazine), but decided against it when this trip got too darned long. There's always so much to see on a road trip like this one, and never enough time. We're here for two more nights. It's supposed to start raining around lunch time, and so we're going to try to get out early ...

Hot Springs National Park: Part One from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's our last morning in Hot Springs. We'll be moving along later this morning, heading to Morrilton, Arkansas, and Petite Jean State Park. We have three nights at our next stop, and we're hoping to see a big waterfall and to do some hiking. The weather is looking a little iffy for one of our days, and so we'll have to see how it goes when the time comes.

For now, I want to tell you about our visit to Hot Springs National Park. First, however, let's get an update on ...

Hot Springs National Park: Part Two from ... Cat Patches

A second good morning to you, my friends. This is Part Two of our visit to Hot Springs National Park. You can find my Part One post right here. So let's start again at the beginning of Bathhouse Row.

We were preparing to walk this main walkway along the bathhouses.

This first structure was "Superior Baths." It was a bathhouse, restaurant, and craft brewery. We had lunch here on the walk back. I was hoping to pick up a t-shirt for Erik here, but the only one in his size was kind of dumb. I passed.

Hot Springs, Arkansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and yahoo!!! Yesterday I added a new state to the side of the RV. It's been months since I added anything to the map. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, okay? Please hold your applause for a bit.

It was an easy drive from Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Hot Springs, Arkansas. This was our view for most of the day. We are still surprised at how green it is in this part of Texas. I might have thought we were driving in Michigan or Minnesota.

We're still seeing plenty of wildflowers. Yellow ...

A Week in Kentucky from From My Carolina Home

Last week we met my husband’s brother and sister-in-law for a vacation together. They’ve only been married for a year and 10 months, and we really wanted to spend some time with them. Kentucky was a good halfway point, as they live in Ohio, so we planned to do a few distillery tours and a couple of other things. You all know that I am a bourbon gal. It is my drink of choice when I am going to have one, and I also like to cook with it. Sometimes I put it in the food, too, see ...

Mt. Pleasant, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Take a good long look around because this will be our last morning to wake up in Texas. We'll be crossing the state line into Arkansas today. And I know y'all are as excited as I am to be adding a new state to the side of the RV. I'll warn you before I do it, so you'll have time to buckle your seatbelt. You'll be completely safe, my friends.

Sadie had some time for one last morning sunbath before we left Grapevine yesterday morning.

Grapevine Walk from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's our last morning in Grapevine. We'll be moving along once we get ourselves together and packed up. We'll be heading to Sulphur Springs, Texas, and that will be our last night in Texas before crossing the border into Arkansas. Arkansas will be the first of four new states for the side of the RV.

It was a lovely day yesterday. Our first task was to get the birthday boy out for a short walk. This is another place where it's a little too exposed for his taste. Our "walks" are better ...

Wednesday Catch up! from Humble Quilts

I went to a Meet the Teacher event in Pleasant Hill, CA this week.

I was thrilled to see my long time friend Nancy! She used to come to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt show and we'd sew, laugh and have a grand time together with a group of ladies. We had a lot of fun times together so it was so lovely to give her a big hug!

Teachers sign up to present and we have 3 minutes to give a spiel to guilds and encourage them to hire you.

Quilt Shop: Must Love Fabric; Colleyville, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Hello again, my friends. I'm here to tell you about the quilt shop we visited yesterday. My friend, Lenelda, told me this was her favorite quilt shop in the area. How could I not go? Impossible!

We had a lot of running around to do, but this was our first stop. It opened at 9:30 a.m. We were just a few minutes early. I was messing around on my phone when I looked up and saw the "Open" sign was lit. Yahoo!

Walking through the front door, it looks like this.

Directly in front of me, I ...
