Wilson State Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We find ourselves in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, this morning and at a truly lovely state park. We held off leaving our previous stop until around 11:00 a.m. in order to arrive at the new spot at check-in time. It gave me some time to work on my slow stitching. I finished off the Kitten #10.

Here are the ten kittens I have for this quilt so far.

Next up, I'll be starting on covered bridge #4 for the Grandpa's Bridges quilt.

It's hooped up and ready for me to take the ...

Quilt Shop: Sarah's Fabrics; Lawrence, Kansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a leisurely day yesterday. I spent some time reading email and playing my word games. After breakfast, I spent some time on my slow-stitching. I finished stitching the tail-end of the cat.

All that's left now is to stitch the tree trunk on the left side.

I couldn't capture the whole thing in my hoop, but I stitched a little more and finished off the bottom.

And now, I have just the upper part of the trunk to stitch. I had to switch to a smaller hoop.

You might remember this pattern ...

Lawrence, Kansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well, we made it. We’ve filled in our entire map of the lower 48 states. Please someone cue any of John Philip Sousa’s marches. Any one of them would be appropriate. I’m leaning toward Stars and Stripes Forever.

Well, the kitties were pretty excited at the prospect of visiting Kansas...or, Catsas if you want the Catonese translation. They caught up on current events with Mike just before we started getting ready to leave.

Heading on down the road, it was an overcast gray day. We didn’t even see any barns that ...

Missouri Star Quilt Company from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was my day to visit Missouri Star Quilt Co. yesterday. I really did not know what to expect beyond lots of quilt shops and lots of fabric. All the stores on Hamilton's main drag open at 9:00. (Just FYI, everything is closed on Sundays.) When I arrived, there was already a crowd of women outside waiting for the store to open. It was 8:59 a.m., and we were an impatient bunch.

Stepping back a few paces, this mural was painted on the side of the building.

Here's the accompanying information ...

Punting … from Quilting and More...

My beautiful Bernina 790Pro is still out of commission, though there is light at the end of the tunnel! When the local tech was finally able to get back to work after three weeks flat on his back, poor guy, he tried to order replacement parts for my machine. However, Bernina insisted that he send […]

Hamilton, Missouri from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It rained a good part of the day for our drive to Hamilton. We backtracked a bit, passing by the Capitol rotunda in Jefferson City for the second time.

I've lost count how many times we crossed over the Missouri River this trip, but here we go again.

Up and over...

We didn't drive far enough north to pay Ozarkland a visit for more fudge, but it's probably just as well. Instead, we saw lots of barns.

We passed through Macon, Missouri.

It happens to be the birth place of Butch Patrick. Who ...

Another Slow Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a beautiful day weather-wise. There was no wind, and so it was very still and peaceful. We listened to the birdsong and sat outside. Even Smitty got outside to enjoy it.

Our neighbors to the north moved on and took their stupid woofie with them. Smitty could munch on his grass without having to look over his shoulder.

My morning was spent slow-stitching. I stitched enough of the kitten to decide to move my hoop.

Next, I was ready to finish off the leaves and the right side of the branch.

I was still ...

A Day for Slow from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate. Well, it was a lazy morning yesterday. We were moving slow. The kitties put us in the mood right from the get-go.

I spent a little time on my slow-stitching. I did a little more in the afternoon.

Before I go on, I want to say we've seen several butterflies flit through our campsite. As I've mentioned, it's nearly impossible to get a picture of a butterfly. They rarely light anywhere, and it does no good to chase them down. I found the two pictures ...

Lake of the Ozarks State Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning my friends. We're back in Missouri this morning, making our way westward. It was another long day of driving, but we're staying put for the next three days (two now). As we were packing up to leave our spot at Rend Lake yesterday, we were sorry we hadn't planned a longer stay. Sadie was entertained by the birds outside.

Smitty enjoyed the peace and quiet and general lack of woofies while he took his morning nap.

But leave we must, and so we did, heading northwest on I-64 toward St. Louis. It was another good ...

Three States from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We traveled through three states yesterday. I was surprised when I realized we would be spending the majority of our driving distance traversing Indiana. Kentucky has a hump on its northeast side and borders Indiana on the west. We started our journey in Kentucky, of course. I caught a few more Kentucky barns as we drove out of town.

It's always a thrill to find one with a quilt block.

We took one last look at the green, green landscape.

And here we go, my friends. We're beginning our westward trek toward home. Buckle ...

Travel Day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There seem to be many travel days in my life, but this was a pretty uneventful one and I'm thankful for that.

Off to the airport nice and early and as I lugged a large suitcase out the door as the Uber was close by, Miss Murphy decides that she NEEDS to come with me. Ah -- NO Murphy, no dogs allowed. I thought I was going to have trouble getting her back in the house, but she's a good girl and reluctantly came back inside.

I practically skipped through the security line. That NEXUS card (priority through the ...
