Travel Crochet from Becca's Crazy Projects

What does one do when travelling? Bring yarn! All of this is from Knit Picks. These are singles. The solid color is no longer available. The multicolor is Chroma fingering. 
I held the two strands together. The pattern is the Just Feel Festive Shawl by Caleisha Ryan.
I made mine using fewer cast on stitches but I like how it turned out. 
I do wish I had used a larger hook, to make the fabric a little looser. Still a good finish.

Frolic Mystery Quilt Finish! from Becca's Crazy Projects

It's been more than year since I quilted my version of Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt Frolic. I decided it was time to get it bound.
Applying binding to large quilts is a wrestling match. I attach the binding to the back of the quilt so I can machine finish it from the top.

Quarter Square Triangle Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm working on a project and needed a bunch of quarter square triangle blocks. I decided to give my Accuquilt Go! a workout. 
Start with four squares cut to at least 5.5" inches by 5.5" inches. This block has two green quarters, one background (tan with stars), and one orange quarter. Starting with four squares will yield four finished units. You could use four colors but my quilt pattern called for three colors.

Scrappy Bricks and Charms from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last weekend I pieced a couple little quilts. This one used 5" charm squares to make pluses.

Springtime from Becca's Crazy Projects

I haven't been getting much done this past week. Well, I went on walks with my dog and saw the daffodils blooming at the end of my block. 
I pieced this simple quilt top for Quilts for Kids. I quilted it, too. 
I cut a bunch of squares and bricks for more charity quilts. Otherwise a quiet week.

Scrappy Bricks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last weekend I pulled out my stack of 2.5" strips and cut a bunch of 2.5" x 4.5" bricks. This time, I pulled bright green, dark green, aqua, and some yellows. I also pulled out some 4.5" center blocks from my stack. 
Over part of Saturday I pieced the 12.5" blocks. On Sunday, I finished piecing the blocks and assembled them into this little top that will finish at about 36" by 36". Perfect for a Quilts for Kids quilt. I think I have a piece of green flannel that will make a snuggly backing ...

Scrappy Bricks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Time for another scrappy bricks project. This time, I decided to go big! The center squares are cut at 4.5" by 4.5" and the bricks are cut at 2.5" by 4.5". This is a great way to use up a bunch of 2.5" strips. Particularly if you're like me and have like a million of them. 
First I made this one. Each block measures 12.5" by 12.5" and finishes at 12" by 12" in the finished quilt. Only nine blocks make a great baby quilt that measures about 36" by 36".

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

After piecing the quilt backing, it was time to load this fun quilt onto the frame. 
I used a fun quilting design that has become one of my favorites. If I remember to look it up I will share the designer. Yesterday I trimmed it and added it to my pile of quilts waiting for binding. That pile is now five quilts deep. I should start another random quilt soon.

Piecied Quilt Backings from Becca's Crazy Projects

While there is no wrong way to make a quilt, I have some tips to help making piece quilt backings easier. I pieced this backing using several lengths and widths of fabrics. The green floral was yardage, the grayish green was yardage, the turquoise was a leftover piece of wide backing, and the dark blue was also leftover wide backing fabric. Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes I go a little crazy. This is the stack of sashings and corner blocks I cut to put together my Random Qube Block quilt. The sashings were cut from the leftovers from another quilt's backing fabric. I used almost every scrap of that fabric. 
Here it is with all those sashings and cornerstones. I'm super pleased with how it turned out. Now I just have to pick out another border fabric and find some backing fabric.

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I made it to the end of week eight. That's 56 blocks in 56 days. 
This is block number 10. It was a pleasant surprise for this block to show up the last week. It is the only block number 10 in the series. 
More fun color combinations. 
It was exciting to find this one showing up again.

Butterfly Garden from Becca's Crazy Projects

I picked up this butterfly panel more than a year ago. I'm not sure why I wanted it. I mean, it's pretty. I decided it was time to pull my fabrics together to make it into a quilt. I grabbed coordinating blues, oranges, greens, and yellow. 
I played around with blocks in Electric Quilt until I had a couple blocks I wanted to make. I grabbed my Accuquilt Go! and 8 Inch Qube and got cutting.

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Here we are at the end of week seven!  
Another 16-patch. I just grabbed some squares of the appropriate colors and arranged them. These are more improv than one would imagine. Green and orange. 
I may have played a little loose with my interpretation of "orange" in this block. Purple, green, and orange. 
This was exciting because it was the first time block number 20 showed up in the rolls. Black, purple, and pink.

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Week number six wrap up. 
This block is kind of busy. 
This one pulls colors from one print. 
This one is a rainbow of fun. Red and green together!
Another one pulling colors from a single print. 
Even when I let the dice pick the colors I still get to pick the fabric.
Sometimes the outcome is interesting.

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Here we are at the end of week number five. 
This week saw a couple blocks that hadn't made in yet. Like this one. Technically it is a two color block but I used four different prints for the blue. 
I like to use the larger pieces to showcase larger prints. 
Like this one. That rainbow dog fabric is delightful.

I love this large flower print. 
Sunflowers.

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Four weeks of randomly generated blocks on the design wall. 
This block is such a delight. 
Bigger pieces means I can use bigger prints. 
These are just so much fun to put together. 
Look at that fussy-cut treasure map!
I was so excited when this block came up. So different from the rest. It would make a great alternate block.  
Sometimes I put unlikely things together.

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Week number three!
This week I managed to cut and sew each randomly generated block on the day I rolled it. 
This week I had more than a couple blocks that had doubles. This one had double green. 
This one had double white. 
This one is double yellow. 
Sometimes there is an easy block. The pinwheel is one of those. 
I think this one is my favorite of all the blocks. I could make an entire quilt using just this block. 
I'm going to be able to make some interesting layouts with how many of these I'm getting ...

Random Qube Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

What do these polyhedral dice have to do with quilting? Well, they are here to help me make quilt blocks without overthinking the process. I learned about this fun idea watching the great short videos from Chris Marchini, Rose City Originals. I made a list of twenty different blocks, and a list of ten colors.
