Magnificent Mini’s from If These Threads Could Talk

The products shown in this post were given to me by Island Batik.

Magnificent Minis

Our assignment for February was to create a “Magnificent Mini” using any technique we chose.  The only criteria was the size: 24″ x 24″ or smaller.  It seems I’m always collecting quilt blocks for hearts and Christmas Trees. The first thing I do is fire up my EQ8 and start drawing.

Last year I made a heart mug rug.  The drawing above consists of mirror image split rects and two squares that have had the corners popped using Studio 180 Design Split Rects & Corner Pop tools ...

The fabrics featured in this post were given to me by Northcott Fabrics.

A Storm at Sea quilt has been on my “need to make list” for a long time.  I especially love the kind that use graduating colors.  Lucky for me, fellow Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor Michelle Hiatt created her pattern “Calm Seas“.  This fabulous pattern offers you a choice of 3 sizes; Throw, Double or King.  I chose to make the Throw size (62″ x 72”).  Calm Seas is a companion pattern for Studio 180 Design’s Large Square/Squared, Diamond Rects & V Block Tools.

Pillow Possibilities from If These Threads Could Talk

The products featured in this post were given to my by Island Batik.

Playful Pillows

The Island Batik challenge for May is “Playful Pillows”.  As I was thinking about what pillow design I would choose, it occurred to me I had a wealth of ideas at my fingertips.  So many of my favorite quilt patterns have blocks large enough for a pillow.  I decided I would make the center block from Deb Tucker’s “Carolina Lily: One Block” wall quilt pattern.

DTP005_-_No_Y_Carolina_Lily_-_One_Block_1024x1024Carolina Lily is a companion pattern for the Wing Clipper I.

02 Square Squared

My blocks are 12″ when finished.  that indicated that my Square/Squared units would finish at 6″.  I Needed 16 square ...

I Love New York OBW #62 from If These Threads Could Talk

I had a really busy Fall teaching schedule this year.  I am so looking forward to 2018.  I got a jump start by making a quilt for Granddaughter Bailey’s 19th birthday.  She absolutely loves New York City.  We have visited there several times and walked from one end of the city to the other.  I had this fabric from Timeless Treasures for several years.  It just occurred to me that I must have been saving it for Bailey.

It is about 9 degrees in Central NY today.  This is my 62nd One Block Wonder.
