Make-A-List Monday - Crunch Time! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Another week has come and gone, and the end of the year is coming up so fast!  Hard to believe that it's already October, isn't it?  And so much is going on in the next few weeks - I really need to get my thoughts together and make a comprehensive to-do list and STICK BY IT!

But first, let's see what I managed to do on last week's list...

1.  Baste the two commission quilts.
2.  Quilt the two commission quilts.
Done!  Both of these are ready for delivery - hooray!!  No more commission work until ...

The Virtual Retreat - Day One from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I learn all kinds of things at the Virtual Retreat. Everyone is such a wealth of information and inspiration.

I want to start by giving you a day trip option. As you know, many (OK - ALL) events have been canceled. That includes the SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) convention, which was to be held in Toronto in March. That was back in the days when the organizers were wishy-washy about canceling events. Now - there is NO choice. Cancel!

An exhibition of art quilts was put together specifically for that conference. Alas - we never got to see the quilts. However, I ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Reorganizing! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a busy week around here, and I'm  happy to say my sewing studio is finally starting to shape up!  My long arm machine is back up...

...and hooray, I managed to get my IKEA wire drawers underneath it!  At the other house I had plastic storage tubs full of scraps under the front of the machine, but I really don't think I want to do that here.  And that means it's time for a little reorganization!

I think I'm going to use the wire drawers to sort and store my scraps ...

Cleaning up!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OMG - I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I had a lot of fun unpacking boxes yesterday. I don't have time to share the photos with you this morning, but here's a couple of quilts that I've been working on over the last couple of days. My goal is to get ALL of the customer quilts sitting in the queue to be completed before the end of the year. I'll still have some community projects quilts to do, but those can wait. I want the few customer ones left to be done ...

Monday sewing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've been taking applique or embroidery to Monday sewing and frankly - I can't do it all day. I get bored and that makes me sleepy. I thought it might be the sitting all day but nope - it's the applique. Note to self - try to avoid ALL hand applique in the future! Unless the project is small. I have a couple more hand applique projects to finish and I might just switch to machine applique. I can do the prep there but stitch at home. Something to think about as I get stuff organized for 2020.

So for ...

Antique Post Office Desks from Quilts + Color

These are the two post office desks I have in my studio. They are the perfect place to store and display my yarn,

This is the one I acquired very recently. It is a standing desk while the other one is a sitting desk. I am guessing since this one is smaller it came from a smaller community. I love them both.

Fabric Storage from Cottage Quilt Studio

I love to walk into my studio and see all of the beautiful fabrics on the shelves. However, I do not like to fold them and try to keep them neat and organized when they are folded.

I never seem to fold them the same size….so I decide to invest in some Polar Notions fabric boards. They are so easy to use and keep the fabric on display, neat and organized. I have gotten up to 10 yards on 1 board or as little as a yard. I have 100 of these boards and need to order 200-300 more ...

Studio update – new spool racks from Blue Square Quilting

My sister is my blog’s biggest fan and has been giving me a hard time for not posting anything since June. She is right of course. So this one if for you, Frédérique !

If you have been following this blog for a while, you know that I do all my work in my converted attic. An attic has obvious challenges in terms of storage, mainly due to the lack of straight walls. Over the last couple of years, I have accumulated a large number of big thread spools that I stored in plastic containers. And because they were stored ...
