Little Happy Bag pattern from Threads On My Socks

I wanted to share an idea for a bag front, using my pattern 'Little Happy Bag'.

I have recently been completely captivated with cross stitch. This guy has been sitting & waiting for ten years or so, in my pinterest pins. So, one day, instead of doing all the things I was supposed to do....I had a wonderful time stitching him. I made the wreath around him as I went along. And changed some thread colors, to what I had on hand. So, that tells me...that I have gotten comfortable with this cross stitching adventure. This is only my ...

Seeing The Light from From the Strawberry Patch...

My last post was a November "wrap-up" post and today we are mid-way through the month of December; that's a good indication of the busy-ness of this season that's upon us. I'm sure it's the same at your house. I'm ordinarily very organized regimented(!) about my approach to decorating the house and preparing for Christmas. Typically, I assign a task a day in the beginning of December and then

What I Did Over the Weekend… from Where Art & Life Meet

I spent at least 16 hours this weekend analyzing and stitching examples of the Trellis Stitch. Specifically the spiral trellis stitch, which was one of dozens of stitches that adorned the Plimoth Jacket, a women’s waistcoat, made in the early 1600’s. Another heavily embroidered jacket is in the costume collection at the Metropolitan Museum here… Continue reading What I Did Over the Weekend…

Giving Thanks from Where Art & Life Meet

Jack Kornfield, American author and teacher, who trained in Thailand as a Buddhist monk, did an exercise where he asked everyone to imagine they were close to death. And then he asked – in those final moments what held the most importance for them. Most people did not list all the things they’d accomplished, prizes… Continue reading Giving Thanks

A Poppy Pincushion and Pin! from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

This is our last installment in our Hopeful Bluebird Sewing Smalls, and "hopefully" you have been joining in on the fun. This week we will be showcasing our Poppy Pincushion.

Hopeful Bluebird Poppy Pincushion

To start the pincushion, cut out the wool pieces and appliqué the poppy—the templates for the poppy can be found in our Hopeful Bluebird pattern (website link below). The first two petals are stitched down on one of the circles, and then the smaller petals are just tack stitched in the center. Once that is finished, it is time to add the embroidery to the ...

Chaos, Humor & a Do-Over from Where Art & Life Meet

A little humor to start off the day. It must be said that my mother did not send me any of these, however she might have, had she seen them. Here you go, Mom. I love you. I’m feeling a bit like Pooh Bear. To any of you offended by the f-word, these are unprecedented… Continue reading Chaos, Humor & a Do-Over

Designing, Ripping Out & A Video From My Mother from Where Art & Life Meet

I’ve been working away on my latest project: “Stitch Along With Ariane”, which is actually a Zoom Series that will span 8 weeks, with a weekly Zoom meet-up to discuss the past week’s lesson, and the following week’s stitches. I’m working on the background stitching while awaiting the last of my threads to arrive. I’m… Continue reading Designing, Ripping Out & A Video From My Mother
