Pineapple Block and Masks from Quilts....etc.

Finished the face masks first for Melanie and got those out of the way and I will give them to her probably on Saturday as that will be the warmer day on the weekend for a walk and will meet up with her then.  I have gotten very used to making facemasks now and it […]

A Little Quilting and More Masks from Quilts....etc.

Yes just a few more face masks – and then I’m done with them again  – I had told Melanie I would make her some with Christmas theme for at work as it makes it more fun to wear them and for the few kids that come in the library to see when they visit.  […]

A Cold Start to December from Quilts....etc.

December has started out cold!  Way too cold – but we have now had a hard freeze two nights in a row so maybe all the bugs will be gone – as of a couple days ago Mike was still seeing some mosquitoes when he was out back close to the woods working.  Of course […]

On to Something New from Quilts....etc.

Well it isn’t real new – I have had the stitchery up on the wall for months now to remind me it needs to be done for the Christmas season and I haven’t gotten started on it – this is the one that Melanie made for us last year and I wanted to make it […]

A Lot to Share from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday was a very busy day for me and I got a bit done.  I did take a break in the early afternoon and met Melanie for a walk – we decided to forgo the loop at the back of the trail system where we have been seeing a snake every week for the past […]

slipping away . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

This is the last slow stitching Sunday in October . . . and there are only nine left in 2020.  How's that for an opening line?!

Between the birthday weekend and getting ready for the Blog Hop, by this past week I was ready to just chill.  LOL! But I pretty much had something every night last week, so not a lot to show. I will share this darling photo of my niece, Liesl . . .
October is Down Syndrome month and the colors of solidarity are blue and yellow.  My sister had the yard signs made this year. So sweet!  If you're ...

time out . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Hey, hey!  What a glorious, long weekend for me!  Our big meeting was Tuesday, and then the office was closed through Monday!  The weather's been just glorious for a five-day weekend!

Tuesday evening, Evey came home with me and had a sleepover.  We had lots of fun exploring, watching movies, and making cookies!!
She was very serious about her sprinkling duties!

While Evey and I were checking out the turtle sanctuary, I noticed a couple of water lily buds.  Sure enough, when I came out on Thursday to look, we had one in full bloom . . .
Isn't it beautiful ...

happy october . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Hello October, I'm so happy that you're here!  It's *birthday* month and it's blog hop month, too!  :)

I finished stitching up Mr. Jack O'Lantern!
He's such fun.  But I felt he needed something a little more than a hoop or mug rug finish. I think I found (or rather, made) the perfect solution . . .
Yay!  It's a slipcover for a Christmas pillow I've had for ages. I may go back and quilt the face of it later.  Maybe.  Right now, I'm liking is just as it is, where it is!

I got ...

stitchin' along . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

One more stitchery finished . . .
I was really pleased with this simple stitchery! I finished it out like I've done several in the recent past.  I put it in a bamboo hoop, backed it with felt, and trimmed the rim out.  I took this one to work to enjoy!
Speaking of enjoying things at work, my special order of chai tea, by Samovar, finally arrived!  I enjoyed a nice cuppa Thursday afternoon, along with a shortbread cookie!
SEC football season started up today ... hip, hip, hooray!  Our church is having a Tailgate Party outside tomorrow after services.
Todd made his ...

pumpkins and acorns . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

So far, so good!  I headed out Thursday, along with some of the other Essential staff wives, for a retreat/conference in Dallas, Georgia; Cultivate 2020.

It was a LOT of fun!  I love road trips in and of themselves, but this retreat was really intended to pamper and encourage the participants and a great job was done of it!

I mean, wow!  Our lunch Friday was served in high—tea time—style! Each of us got our own tiered tray, that then went home with us. We went home with a ton of swag, including the gorgeous (and yummy ...

happy wednesday . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I'm going to start with the big news, right off the bat . . .
One.  Hundred.  Days.

Can you believe it?!?  How much stitching do you have to do in order to be ready for it? That's the million dollar question, isn't it?  LOL!

Late Sunday afternoon I finally sat down to stitch, but got distracted by a new TeaTime Holidays magazine . . .
Yeah, more Christmas! Though the first tea party they share is a Thanksgiving one! It justified having the pumpkin blondie with my mug of pumpkin spice tea.

I combated Monday work blues by 'fallifying" my office space ...

weekend busy happies . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I'm going to tell you a true story . . .

I read a quote that caught my attention: "The secret to having everything, is believing you already do."

Immediately I thought of my current fabric stash and felt a little convicted. Then this verse of scripture popped into my head:  "Lord I believe; help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)

Then I ordered this . . .
To go with this . . .
Which it does, and very nicely, I might add.  The end.  No names were changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

Where do I go from that? It's been a very busy weekend! Of course ...

sloooooow stitching . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Slow stitching is appropriate.  It feels like it took me *forever* to finish this piece, but finished it is!
I had to take some "staging" pics, too . . .
Heh. So I'm a stitcher, not a photographer. I think one of the reasons I took so much time is that this really was a new style of stitching for me. I'm still not sure if I'd choose to do it again. I like the dimensional aspect of it — but it's all big stitches with six strands of floss ... no delicate stitching for detail. Though I do love the ...

increasing my fiber . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Over the weekend I was very thready. I sorted through all the floss I've accumulated (some from the estate sale) . . . it was a huge hodge podge in multiple containers (or not):
A mess. And even after I'd sorted most of it out, I still had this unsightly tangle to deal with . . .
And I actually did tackle and tame it!
Now I just need to purchase more floss cards so I can wrap it (and it can stay relatively tidy).

I also picked up (when I ordered it online and it was sent to my po box and I ...

retirement prep . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Mind you ... I'm still farther away than I care to be from that actual date, but still, I'm all about advance preparation.  In this case, it's about stocking up now, so when I retire and my indiscretionary funds are limited, I still have plenty of fabric, notions, and patterns to create to my heart's content.

I made great strides towards that end this past weekend.  I visited (well, I had an appointment for) a quilter's estate sale.  And this quilter was very prolific, had a wide range of tastes, and was a most excellent ...

Working on the RSC Challenge from Quilts....etc.

Here it is almost the end of the month and I haven’t made my two dark blue blocks that I needed for this months challenge.  The more I thought about it though I decided to skip dark blue this month as I only have 8 more blocks to make and it is two of each […]

Binding, Masks, Organizing from Quilts....etc.

A little more to write about then yesterday.  I got my binding sewed down on RSC19Stars and now ready for the hand stitching part.  I had thought to do a multi color stripe for the binding but then I was lazy lol and just grabbed the newsprint that was on the final border instead.  I […]

all the hearts . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Finally got myself over to Hobby Lobby (I had a gift card) to pick out a frame for my Snow Sampler. Bonus -- all the frames were 50% off!  So this is the one I picked out . . .
Isn't it sweet?!  Joc has a silver and blue snowman that's so cute and would look perfect in this vignette.  But for now, I'm pleased with my jar of melted snowman, my snowman book, and the little blue and white heart, which help me feel like at least we're transitioning.  LOL!

I got a few more hearts free handed to ...

a flimsy and some whimsey . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Is anyone else struggling with spammers (one in particular) of late?  I hate putting my comments on moderation, but I'm so tired of the spam, I had to go there for the time being. On a happier note, this is post 1,400!  Not that it means anything to anyone but me (and I've been blogging since 2003, which averages to 82 posts a year?!) ... perseverance!  LOL!

I finished my class flimsy . . .
I'm so in love with this.  The top finished out at a respectable 60" square.  It'll make a nice lap quilt.  I'm going ...
