Sunday Stash September 15, 2019 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers this week. I visited a quilt shop while traveling but didn’t buy anything. Nothing jumped out and begged me to take it home.
The runner is pieced and the frame sewn down. The decorative stitching goes around the frame before adding the holly applique. That’s today’s goal.
holly runner 2We’re closing in on the end of the third quarter. I’m not sure where this year went, but I didn’t spend near enough of it in the sewing room.

No fabric in this week.
I finished the 9 patch quilt for 8 yards out. That really helped the numbers! It would pick up animal hair if I laid it on the floor and already washed it. Nothing changed except the green binding.
9 patch finishedNow I’m working on the Holly Runner. A lot of life happened last week and sewing time didn’t come easy. This is another busy week and then life should settle down to a more typical routine. The one good thing about shorter days is an abundance of sewing time.

No fabric out this week. The nine patch top is quilted and the binding cut. Today is all about binding that quilt. The finish will do wonders for my numbers next week.
My Art Quilt Group is doing a challenge that includes using a specific fabric. One fat quarter in for that.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments last week supporting Sunday Stash. I just wanted to make sure there was still an interest. We all get busy and have to push things aside sometimes. Sounds like August was just one of those months.
We got home from the AQS show yesterday. It was a good show with amazing quilts. I spent the whole day looking at the quilts and only the last hour browsing the vendor booths. I behaved myself at the show and only bought one charm pack.
On the way home we stopped at Fields Fabrics. It ...

I had a finish this week for some fabric out. Good to see the numbers going in the right direction.

I wanted to finish quilting the acorn runner last night, but fatigue won out and I made the binding instead. It was hard to leave it so close to done, but I find free motion quilting works best when I’m mentally alert. I’ll finish it today and report it next week.

No fabric in or out this week.
The 30s quilt is quilted. Here’s a picture of it trimmed down.

I was on the road this week to Quilt National and Amish Country. There were quite a few quilt shops and fabric stores involved, along with a number of thrift shops.
The stash expanded, but it could have been a lot worse. We’d stopped at several places and the only fabric I bought was the neutral pumpkins, on clearance for less than $2 a yard.
I thought I was in the clear for the trip, heading for the cashier with nothing in hand at our last thrift on Friday. My friend had fabric, and the cashier said she should ...

No fabric out this week. The 30s quilt is basted and the Gemma top is under construction.
The Gemma pattern is an epic fail for my body proportions. So far I’ve spent more time taking it apart and making adjustments than it took me to sew up the seams. My goal is to get it wearable, finish it up and move on.
I bought a 2 yard cut of muslin at Goodwill for $0.80. The price was too good to pass and I will use it to dye or paint. Muslin doesn’t linger in my stash.

No change in the numbers.
We are half way through the year. Are you half way to your goal?
In spite of more time in the sewing room this year, my first half numbers disappoint. I think it has a lot to do with the projects. I’ve started new things this year rather than work on UFOs, and the focus on creative play means everything takes more time. Perhaps the second half will be more productive.
I finished the 30s top last night. I had a different vision for the border, but the green was what I could scrape ...

I’m on the road for another family event.
No fabric in or out this week. There are quilt shops near me, but we didn’t have time to stop.
Thanks for all the great suggestions for the borders of the 30s quilt. Once we’re home I’ll play around with the suggestions in the comments.

Most of this week was spent catching up from the time away last week. I haven’t turned on my sewing machine for almost two week. That will change today because, surprise, it’s raining.
My sister sent me a couple kits.

When the numbers move, they MOVE.
My guild had their fabric sale yesterday. Need I say more?
This is part of what came home with me.

The pink on the left is vintage. The paw print fabric will go in the quilt with the cat blocks. I have no excuse for the rest. Not pictured: a few fat quarters and several yards of neutrals.

These fabrics I bought to make clothing. The pink came from the thrift. It’s a textured rayon blend and there’s a lot of it. The other two came from the sale, although I’m ...

Happy Mother’s Day! Hope everyone gets a chance to do something nice for themselves. For me that involves time in the sewing room.

Fabric went out with the QAL top finish. No fabric in this week. Next Saturday my guild has its annual fabric sale. The numbers will go up…the only question is how much.

It’s time for the next project on the list. I picked a design for my hoop art challenge and some possible background fabrics. I wanted a design that would fill the space and provide opportunities to use paint, specialty fabrics, etc.

No change in the numbers this week.
I started quilting the QAL top yesterday. Once I got over the fact there would be a lot of stops and starts, the design came easier. Sometimes you have to get out of your own way.
I tried to get a picture of the quilting, but the white thread didn’t show up well on the light pink back.
I’d love to have this one done before the next report, but there’s a lot going on this week.

No change in the numbers this week.
I’m still adding embellishments to Waiting For Spring. I wasn’t happy with the look of machine couching the yarn. I worked better to stitch it by hand. Now I’m adding the beads. The ones in the left corner are sewn, the middle ones are not and I’m working on the ones on the right.

No change in the numbers this week.
I’ve been fussing around finding a back for the QAL top. I can’t tell you how many pieces of fabric I pulled out that were a couple inches too small. Frustrating! I keep telling myself I need to go through the stash and pull out all the odds and ends pieces, but I haven’t done it yet. It would make fabric selection a lot easier.
Because posts without pictures are boring, here’s an update on the penguin cross stitch.

No fabric out this week. I finished the QAL blocks and plan to sew the top together today. Forward progress is a good thing.
Last Sunday my LQS had a quilter’s garage sale. People rented tables and sold things they no longer loved – fabric, patterns, books, and notions. I went looking for 30s prints, but bought these batik bundles instead. The pieces range from fat quarters to yardage. There are very few scraps.
