I really wasn't looking for a new quilt along. I already had several block-of-the-months to keep me busy, not to mention a slew of other projects I had queued up. But when the Atmosphere quilt along was announced, well, how could I resist?
I really wasn't looking to buy a kit. I had bins full of scraps, and shelves full of fat quarters. But when the lovely bundle of 34 Kona fabrics came wafting under my nose, well, how could I resist?
So I fell headlong into the Atmosphere quilt along. Cutting and organizing the fabric was arguably ...

Would you believe that this is the 5th annual Summer Sampler Series?! Katie and Faith and I have so much fun putting this together every year, and it’s grown so much—more than 1,500 of you participated in last year’s “Piecing Bootcamp” skill-builder-themed sampler. It was beyond our wildest expectations!
This year, for our 5th annual Summer Sampler, we’re bringing you a laid-back summer of low-stress piecing. We know quilting is one of ...

The first person was walking a dog, holding a bag of poop, and talking on the phone, so I just waved. The next person helped me, but he didn't want to hold the quilt, so he took the photos. Mission accomplished! This is my 3rd finish this year.
As you can see, I chose to use a facing on this quilt instead of binding it. A binding ... read more

I'm back with another pink heart quilt! I couple of weeks ago, I blogged about a heart quilt I made for a set of twin girls my son and his wife are expecting in April. This is the quilt for twin number 2.
I used the I Heart You quilt pattern by Then Came June. But instead of using the same fabric for the hearts, I decided to use scraps and I'm absolutely in love with the results. The other fabrics I used were Kona White for the speech bubbles and Kona Peony for the background.

The improv triangle QAL with Nicholas Ball on IG was so much fun. It was just the most glorious distraction for me. I was able to sit down and make a few blocks at a time and didn't have to worry about measurements and sizes. It was just what I needed during my waiting game with my health issues.
When I first saw Cheryl Brickey's pattern Use Your Illusion, two thoughts ran through my mind: wow that is so striking, and wow that looks like a lot of fun to make.
And when I stared at the pattern, I started to see a Greek spiral effect, and then my mind went straight to Santorini. I thought about the lovely blue dome in pretty much all the photos of Santorini, and I found a shade of Kona cotton that matched it.
Piecing of this quilt definitely took awhile since paper piecing always does, but it was as fun as ...

Um, so it's been a while, eh? It's been a little stupid busy around here since January and at the end of the day, I just didn't have the energy to blog. Kiddos are away at camp this week (woot woot!) and lo and behold, I've got some energy back. LOL
My current project is my 2016 BeeSewcial quilt. My month for BeeSewcial was all about direction -- I asked my BeeSewcial mates to help me make a village or city. And boy, did they deliver! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to ...
Welcome Modern Quilters! Today is my day on the Riley Blake Quilt-it Modern blog tour.
When Riley Blake asked if I had an idea for using their Confetti Cottons solids with Crayola colors I knew immediately what I wanted to make. Solids are such a huge part of Modern Quilting and I wanted to create a project that was fun, easy, and screamed summer! What is more iconic in summer than a VW Camper Van?!
So I created a pattern with a couple of options for you. The Beach Bus block is a foundation pieced pattern that can be made ... read more
