Atmosphere Quilt Along from Liz Makes Crafts

I really wasn't looking for a new quilt along. I already had several block-of-the-months to keep me busy, not to mention a slew of other projects I had queued up. But when the Atmosphere quilt along was announced, well, how could I resist?

I really wasn't looking to buy a kit. I had bins full of scraps, and shelves full of fat quarters. But when the lovely bundle of 34 Kona fabrics came wafting under my nose, well, how could I resist?

So I fell headlong into the Atmosphere quilt along. Cutting and organizing the fabric was arguably ...

Currents Quilt! from Jan's Quilts

Disparate times! Its been raining off and on, but I really wanted to get some photos of this completed quilt, Currents. I stood on my driveway waiting for someone to walk by. The first person was walking a dog, holding a bag of poop, and talking on the phone, so I just waved. The next person helped me, but he didn't want to hold the quilt, so he took the photos. Mission accomplished! This is my 3rd finish this year.

As you can see, I chose to use a facing on this quilt instead of binding it.  A binding ...

Another finish from 2019 that I haven't shown you is a Fly Away wall hanging, made as a custom order.  My client chose the Kona Cottons to get the look he was after.

A rod pocket was not attached as the client was hanging the quilt with a wooden quilt hanger that holds the quilt between two layers of wood.

Pattern:  Fly Away, available right here.
Size:  48" square, resized from pattern.
Fabric:  All Kona Cotton solids.

I Heart You Quilt from Dizzy Quilts

I'm back with another pink heart quilt! I couple of weeks ago, I blogged about a heart quilt I made for a set of twin girls my son and his wife are expecting in April. This is the quilt for twin number 2.

I used the I Heart You quilt pattern by Then Came June. But instead of using the same fabric for the hearts, I decided to use scraps and I'm absolutely in love with the results. The other fabrics I used were Kona White for the speech bubbles and Kona Peony for the background.

Like I ...

Mountain High, Valley Low - The improv triangle QAL from Sew Sunshine

"Mountain High, Valley Low"
48" x 38"
improv from scraps
line quilting in diamond pattern

The improv triangle QAL with Nicholas Ball on IG was so much fun. It was just the most glorious distraction for me. I was able to sit down and make a few blocks at a time and didn't have to worry about measurements and sizes. It was just what I needed during my waiting game with my health issues.

The back piece was something I hand dyed a while back. I think it worked pretty great for this back with a few leftover blocks ...

Meadowland from {The Sweetest Dreams}

This quilt pattern is a phenomenon. Social media went crazy last year with images of fabric pulls and finished quilt tops in all sizes. A quilt along with the pattern designer, Meghan Buchanan of Then Came June generated thousands of photos on Instagram.

The second annual Meadowland QAL will be starting February 3 and will run for 6 weeks. I’m joining in this year. Here are two fabric pulls, one will be a baby quilt for a friend’s grandchild and the other an anniversary gift for my daughter and son in law.

I couldn’t wait to test ...

Santorini from Liz Makes Crafts

When I first saw Cheryl Brickey's pattern Use Your Illusion, two thoughts ran through my mind: wow that is so striking, and wow that looks like a lot of fun to make.

And when I stared at the pattern, I started to see a Greek spiral effect, and then my mind went straight to Santorini. I thought about the lovely blue dome in pretty much all the photos of Santorini, and I found a shade of Kona cotton that matched it.

Piecing of this quilt definitely took awhile since paper piecing always does, but it was as fun as ...

Modern Prism Quilted Wall Hanging from Busy Hands Quilts

Ah, the Modern Prism quilt never fails to delight with its bright, planned simplicity.

The fabric is Michael Miller Cotton Couture, and I love the hand of this fabric.  It is so soft and smooth and frays very little, if at all.  It's such a pleasure to work with such high quality fabric!

I had a Modern Prism quilt kit in my stash and knew that I would never make it without a deadline because I am always so busy with more pressing projects.  I had a request earlier this year for a small version of the quilt, 32 ...

Fancy Little Mug Rugs from Solid Stars from Amy Made That

Hello, Friends!
I have a fun little gift project to share today!

I made three little mug rugs, using
some 6 1/2" star blocks that I made
a short long time ago.

{Ahem...time flies.}

You can read more about the Moda Sweetwater solid bundle
of fabrics that I used, in this post.

I had such fun stitching up these solid blocks!
I used one of them on the back of a little table runner,

Hmmm...solid blocks do tend to show "mistakes",
don't they?
I'm pretty sure I've ...

Setting Direction from Quilt Matters

Um, so it's been a while, eh? It's been a little stupid busy around here since January and at the end of the day, I just didn't have the energy to blog. Kiddos are away at camp this week (woot woot!) and lo and behold, I've got some energy back. LOL

My current project is my 2016 BeeSewcial quilt. My month for BeeSewcial was all about direction -- I asked my BeeSewcial mates to help me make a village or city. And boy, did they deliver! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to ...

Quilt it Modern Blog Tour from Trillium Design

Welcome Modern Quilters!  Today is my day on the Riley Blake Quilt-it Modern blog tour.

When Riley Blake asked if I had an idea for using their Confetti Cottons solids with Crayola colors I knew immediately what I wanted to make.  Solids are such a huge part of Modern Quilting and I wanted to create a project that was fun, easy, and screamed summer! What is more iconic in summer than a VW Camper Van?!

So I created a pattern with a couple of options for you. The Beach Bus block is a foundation pieced pattern that can be made ...

Modern Circles and Squares Quilt from I Love Baby Quilts!

It's finished! This queen sized modern circles in squares quilt is done. It may be my favorite quilt so far. I based it off of this baby quilt I made last year and made it bigger and better. You can't see the quilting in this far view, but the quilting is the best part.

I thought I'd take you through the process, in case you'd like to make one for yourself!

First, decide on how many blocks and what sizes of circles you'd like. For the baby quilt my circles were smaller, but for this ...
