What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I really believe my creative process has helped me throughout my life to provide for my family and to give me the confidence I needed to face struggles. I am so grateful for great role models and teachers. I love learning new skills and information. It makes life an adventure. I hope you all get your sew on or whatever you enjoy doing.

I have the last sections of sea swept together. I can start to see it as a quilt. I need to join sections and see what it looks like in my fabrics. I am very excited.

Hooray ! I started assembly of my sea swept quilt at my Friday quilt group. The left 4 snails trails are sewn together but, the rest are only webbed together to check and secure placement. It is really cool. I came home, and I am doing some of the pinning watching TV in the evening. 

meanwhile, I am back to sewing easy breezy blocks but using 1 1/2 inch squares and strips as leader/enders while sewing other blocks.

The Island Batik Challenge for July urged us to get an early start on Christmas and other end of the year holiday projects!

In my first Island Batik Ambassador Box, I had received a strip set of Holly Holiday fabric, designed by Kathy Engle. With deep red/dark green colors and reindeer/pine shaped trees it screams Christmas. Naturally I set it aside for the July challenge.

I have all the snails trail blocks finished for sea swept. And it was time to figure out how I was going to make the sashings without a pattern. The actual pattern is for paper piecing, and my blocks are machine pieced and larger than the pattern makes.

I have been making 7- 10 sea swept blocks every Friday with my quilt group. I have collected a nice size pile. I thought I would take an accounting and decide where to go from here. I was pleasantly surprised to realize I have 38 made. and 7 in process with 2 rounds. I need 42. This pattern calls for a sashing that will make a wonderful star. The pattern is also for paperpiecing. And the finished piece is smaller than what I am doing. SO, I will need to "invent" what I will need for my block. I think ...

I feel like a broken record.... sea swept, easy breezy, aunt eliza.. repeat. I am really trying to stick to these and making progress however small. Our Friday group met again... on Friday... and I have a new batch of sea swept blocks finished.  I really like making these. I need to cut more background if I am to continue. I only work on these on Friday. I need 42 blocks to do the pattern. I think I have 20 +.

These blocks are addictive. While I was planning my new sea swept quilt, I made sample blocks in shirt fabric. Good thing I did, I made mistakes. But, now, I want to keep making snails trails in shirt fabrics too. I will need to cut more. If you can start one quilt why not start two.

we have a truckload of compost for the garden. We have not bought in bulk before. That is what watching you tube gardening videos will do to you.

 I am not sure where my mojo went, but, I think I know that I suffered from 'finish it 'obsession. And, I have plenty to obsess about finishing in quilting. But, if that is all I do, obsess, check lists, and worry about how much I am not doing, then, the fun is gone.

Sometimes, I just get tired of the mess. And I want to scoop it all into a large trash bag.
