Design Wall Monday - May 6, 2019 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Triangles, triangles, triangles.....and they are yet too small for the design wall. Since I make small quilts and doll quilts, people sometimes give me their leftover fabric bits, and I am working on some of them this week.  My friend Gretchen Weaver, (Blog) , gave some to me last fall at a retreat.  Gretchen is a fantastic quilter, and has just finished hand quilting a wonderful quilt -

Flower Tile: a charm pack quilt for spring from Carried Away Quilting

February may be winding down, but winter is not. Today we’re in a blizzard warning and the week ahead will bring more snow and cold temps. Once again, I looked to my quilts to bring a vision of spring to the inside of my home since mother nature is not cooperating.  Yesterday I graced our table with my Flower Tile quilt, and it cheered me right up!

Flower Tile is a charm pack quilt that finishes at 44 1/2" square. My sample features the Strawberry Fields Revisited collection by Fig Tree & Company, but I think this pattern would ...

Design Wall Monday - January 28, 2019 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

This past week was one where I jumped from project to project with lots of partial progress.  Some weeks are like that.  Here’s what I mean: 1)  The cheddar baskets are sewn into groups of three for sashing and the quilt top is on the design wall right now.  I found I had one basket left over.  Maybe it will go on the label on the back.  Assembly of the quilt top is next. 2)  Lori of

Swiss Cross- Merry Christmas! from Humble Quilts

Here's a fun little quilt and pattern for you to make. I saw a blue and white one that had been cut down from a larger quilt on ebay and thought is was super charming. I opted to make mine in red and white since that seems a bit more Christmassy.  Although when it was complete all I could think of was the red cross!
Now you'll get a history lesson too!

The Red Cross idea was born in 1859, when Henry Dunant, a young Swiss man, came upon the scene of a bloody battle in Solferino, Italy ...

Friday Fun! from Humble Quilts

Here's a little flag gift I'm making for a non quilter. I'm thinking she may be wondering what the heck to do with it.
It will be ready to pop in the mail tomorrow. Prim and Humble.
I was invited to participate in Christine's little quilt swap again this year. My quilt is done and will be ready to mail next week. The person I'm mailing to doesn't know who is making her quilt so I can show it here.
My rugosa's were blooming nicely then we had a crazy storm, with pelting ...

Rose of Houston 2017 from Humble Quilts

When I was in Houston this fall I purchased 2 similar antique blocks from Mary Koval. I sent one to my friend, Laurie. The challenge was to make a little quilt and exchange them.  We both sent them on January 2nd and both of them arrived yesterday!

This is what Laurie made me! Isn't is fantastic?! She used antique fabric and feedsacks.

Isn't this backing fun and unique?
She included a little tag with "Oregon" on it! How cool!
Everything about it is wonderful!
She also included these lovely goodies! That fabric is by Pepper Cory. Thank you ...

Design Wall Monday - November 20, 2017 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Here's my promised post about the November 2017 Jane Stickle quilt retreat in Shipshewana, IN. Friday night was spectacular.  Many, many beautiful quilts were shown at the Show 'n Tell.  These women overwhelm me with their talent, and I alway come away inspired to do more. These are just a few of the many intricate quilts I saw there:  The first one is a top that is made of bow tie blocks.

Design Wall Monday - October 30, 2017 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

People give me their projects to finish.....I don't know why, but they do.....probably because I will take on the challenge.  Anyway, at a retreat last year, I was given this small wall hanging that was partially finished, and the owner was ready to throw it away.  She had done all the paper piecing of the leaves and the three pumpkins.  I took it home, and am finishing it this week.  All I

Design Wall Monday - October 23, 2017 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Topic of the day:  Three Small Fall Wall Quilts Someone asked me recently how I hang my small quilts.  I usually switch them out each season, and sometimes hang them right over something else.  For example, This small quilt is now hanging in the front entry: The size of this little quilt is 17 inches by 17 inches, and the hsts are 3/4 inches square.  How did it get there?  It is

Palmateer Point Linky Party from Humble Quilts

Here is the inspiration quilt! Vintageblessings on ebay comes across some lovely and unique quilts that are for sale. By looking at the back you can see the double line quilting.

I thought it was unique enough to want to make a little one. I like to add a tiny twist to the quiltalongs.
 Aren't these prints adorable?!
You can see the quilting in the original pretty good in this photo.
I opted to do a diagonal line in the same direction of the pink print.

Thank you all for sewing along! I've seen some fantastic versions and ...

Stack and Slash Poinsettias - A Finished Quilt from Studio Dragonfly Quilts

This little project was a filler between some of the bigger quilts I have been working on. The wedges for the blocks were given to me by my mom, who decided after trying one that these were going to be way too much work to make in a way that would result in a remotely flat block. She was right; accuracy is a must here, and you will see shortly that some of mine are not as flat as they ought to be.

This was a fun little quilt to make. There were twelve blocks in the kit, but I ...
