One of my favorite things about sewing is getting lost at the sound of my sewing machine! Sewing away, chain piecing, cutting fabric, and next thing you know many hours have passed, and I was able to escape to my happy place. That is the greatest part about this community, that we can all share this passion, and how we can relate to how happy it makes us! A lot of this joy starts with just choosing what fabrics speak to me, and as of recently, all I’ve been daydreaming about is going on a sunny vacation to the ...
As makers, we are always trying to evolve our craft, it’s what makes being a creator so great! As the years go by, I’ve considered myself quite lucky to be part of this evolution, in the way that my personal taste has changed and witnessing those around me also switch up their styles. The first person that comes to mind with great change is our dear designer, Sharon Holland! Ever since I joined the AGF family, collection after collection release I would always be amazed at what she brought to the table when it came to designs.

We’ve been longing for low-volume! If you’ve been following AGF for a long time, you may have seen a couple of collection releases of low-volume fabrics but revolutionized. Before I get into the evolution of these fabrics, let me just dabble into what “low-volume” fabrics are, which may be a term you haven’t heard if you are new to the quilting world. These fabrics are subtle prints that read like one from afar, they are usually white, cream, or neutral color palette, but of course, here at AGF we like to push the limits!
Bringing us to ...
Today, I would love to talk about something a little different, deeper than just sewing, and it’s about the wonderful gift of giving. It was really important to us to give back, to give something that we made with our hearts and hands that people will love and appreciate. It’s that time of year when we come together, and give our loved ones something special!
Makers truly support each other, as we know the amount of love that goes into all our projects. With this in mind, I am so excited to announce that here at AGF we ...
I saw a pillow pattern on Quilting Digest.Com that I loved. The one shown with the pattern is made with Fall colored flannel fabrics. Since the last several quilts that I've made were using the same pattern, it seemed like a quick project that I would enjoy making. Mine's not nearly as pretty, but I used the Fall flannel scraps that I had on hand.
See that cute little owl head?
Here is a link to the pattern., found on Quilting Digest.Com. I felt like the pattern was way more complicated than it needed to be ... read more
Hello, fabric lovers!
I would like to start the day with one of my favorite sayings, “It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get up!” We are all humans, going through this roller coaster we call life, and our goal is to try to make the most out of it. Today celebrates exactly that with Jessica Swift’s latest collection, Onward + Upward! One of my favorite things about Jessica as a designer is that her collections are so personal, relatable, and enlightening.
Onward + Upward embraces the powerful experience of self-discovery and ...
Halloween is just around the corner and this year when you’re doing your shopping, keep more than just the Trick-or-Treaters in mind! Thanks to Jenny’s creativity, you can take all of those old candy wrappers and bags and create a one-of-a-kind gift (or fun little project for yourself!) using no more than the wrappers, a little scrap fabric and batting, a zipper and some Heat N Bond Iron-on Vinyl!
Supplies Needed
One Empty Candy Wrapper (A Fat Quarter also works great!)
One Package of Fusible Fleece 45″x60 ...

The tale continues….. It was sometime just after the cute cow fabric debacle I decided I wanted to try printing a special fabric on Spoonflower.
I need to back up just a bit. In March I wrote a post about a very special t-shirt my son made for me for my 60th birthday. He replicated a t-shirt I had back in my college days that I dearly loved.

This is a tale of personal stubbornness, my own to be exact. It is a long story because I am quite the stubborn person. Some months ago, I found a cute piece of fabric while shopping at Ben Franklin. It was green with tiny black and white cows all over. I thought it would be fun to use it for a pair of sleep shorts for Julia. Then it sat on the shelf, patiently waiting to be cut up and used.

When I finally got around to making the shorts it all came together quickly. The shorts were so cute ...

Here at AGF, we love coming up with innovative designs and pushing the definition of what low volume prints mean, so we added a little spice! In some of our past Fusions, we released collections like Ballerina Fusion and Serenity Fusion that were based on the same idea but with a twist. Ballerina Fusion had a hint of pink, Serenity Fusion had a tint of blue, and now with our latest release of Vert Fusion, our approach was sage and aloe tones.
If you’re new to AGF, our Fusions are a mixture of prints from other ...

read moreAs someone who has been behind the scenes here at AGF, I've had the honor and privilege of looking at collections come to life! Today I'm excited to finally see Sharon Holland’s first kids collection, Lilliput, live and in action. Now for me, this kids collection is the most unique I have ever seen, as Sharon really outdid herself by balancing adorable forest creatures, sweet florals, and tying them together with boho elements.
Lilliput is inspired by observing the natural world through a child’s imagination. Encounter sweet foxes and bunnies in forest shades of fern green ...
Hello!! Just a quick note to check in with you this fine morning. We had a sudden thunderstorm last night which was fun. However when we have a quick change in barometric pressure, that triggers a migraine which was the not-so-fun part. This morning I am moving a bit slow and thought I would post a bit about what I am working on.

This week I made a few more placemats for our local Meals on Wheels chapter. Our guild is collecting them but hasn’t yet hit the number they are hoping for. I made five of them in ...
read moreRemember the chicks Julia raised last fall in the laundry room? Well two of the four turned out to be roosters, Pete and Jack. This was somewhat disappointing as that obviously reduced the number of eggs we thought we would be getting. However they were very handsome birds and we got over our disappointment. Then we went up to Washington to celebrate the girl’s birthdays and those naughty roosters had a party of sorts.

When we left, the roosters were about five months old. We thought this was still young that they wouldn’t be fertilizing eggs yet. Oh ...

And over time, I’ve curated it to be my own little sanctuary, where I started my garden a couple of months ago and so, I placed a chair right in the center surrounded by some solar powered string lights and it’s the special part of my home that I can call mine. I bring this up because when I read ...
