Sunday Stash October 4, 2026 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week.

I finished the yoga pants for fabric out. I tried taking a picture with me wearing them, but that is harder than you think.

I am at a quilting retreat with my Guild this weekend, hopefully sewing up a bunch of fabric that I can report next week. I just need to stay out of the quilt shops and away from free/sale tables.

Squeezing in my September OMG from Quilt Paint Create

Another month that passed too quickly! It’s time to recap this month’s goals.

I had two for September, to finish Mosaic and sew a pair of yoga pants.

I didn’t have much left to do on Mosaic. That was a fairly quick finish.

The quilt was made for a Paint Chip Challenge for Guild. I dyed the yellow fabric years ago. Each tile is a different pattern using a surface design technique.

I also finished the pants, using Simplicity 8030 (1992) and fleece I bought at a Crafter’s Garage Sale.

Sunday Stash September 27, 2026 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers. I went to the AQS Show in Columbus, Ohio yesterday, but all I bought was a ruler.

So many amazing quilts at the show. I would be hard to pick a favorite. I hope more people attended during the week than were there yesterday. I’d hate to see shows like this disappear.

What’s happening in my sewing room is far less artistic. I cut out the yoga pants and found elastic at Hobby Lobby. My serger is threaded and ready to sew.

The goal this week is to sew them.

No change in the numbers.

Life got in the way this week, and I didn’t finish Mosaic. I did finish quilting it though.

I’ve also worked on Christmas Cottage. It’s tiny – maybe 2.5 x 3 inches here. The fabric is 18 count.

The goal this week is to finish Mosaic for the Guild meeting Saturday. I also want to start the pants. I washed the fabric, but I still need to buy elastic.

September 2026 OMG from Quilt Paint Create

I’m still wrapping my head around the fact it’s September, and we’re already a week in. Time flies.

Working on a focus project makes choosing my OMG simple. My goal is to finish Mosaic.

I started quilting it today, and it’s going fast. I think I’ll finish it this week.

Week 31 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I sewed a skirt -

It matches the top I made last week. This is some fabric I was given too, maybe a linen or a linen blend.

It is a Lutterloh pattern - #94 from supplement 341/Summer 2026.

I did add pockets (it has to have pockets!).

Week 26 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I sewed a dress -

This is another Siena dress from Tailor Academy (the sew along I participated in last month). This time I made one for my Mom. It is made with loom line cotton from GK Fashion Fabrics in Ontario. I made this one a bit shorter, because my Mom is a bit shorter than I am, and no belt. The pattern is so well drafted, and it is a joy to sew the dress.

Week 20 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I sewed a pair of overalls -

I used Ikea fabric again, to try out the pattern. I had lots of fun sewing this, figuring out how to put them together (Lutterloh has no instructions). They came out really nice, and are incredibly comfortable.

The Lutterloh pattern is from supplement #340.

This apron was a quick sew. The pattern is the York Apron, from Helen's Closet. It is made from a linen/cotton blend I bought for this pattern, from a local fabric store that was closing a couple of years ago. The one I made in 2019 ...

Week 19 of 2026 from Thread Head

These past two weeks I have been sewing clothes using the Lutterloh system (the weather has been way below normal, so I haven't been out gardening) -

First a tank top dress for summer.

Pattern #236 from the Spring 2026 supplement #340.

I lengthen the dress and added pockets in the side seam (made with a cotton/spandex knit).

I made a sports bra, and a couple pairs of panties from the leftover fabric.

The sports bra is pattern #37 from the Fall 2025 supplement #338 (the panties are from a self drafted pattern from a Craftsy class).

Week 18 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I finished sewing a dress -

Last Sunday there was a live stream, free sew along class from Tailor Academy in Austria.

The class was amazing, so well taught, and I learned a lot! It was almost 7 hours long, and I was able to sew most of the dress. There was around 1000 people watching from all around the world.

Before starting we did have to get the pattern ready, cut the fabric, apply the interfacing, and make the belt (there was a video for that).

Week 16 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I sewed a summer dress -

Made using the cotton fabric I snowed dyed a few weeks ago.

Sewing is a learning experience for me, and I did learn a few new things. The pattern didn't have pockets, so I added slash pockets - I learned that slash pockets don't work with gathers, so the pockets stick out (fine for collecting eggs), pockets in the seam would have worked better.

I also learned how to install an invisible zipper - turns out it is the easiest way to install a zipper (I used an invisible zipper foot for sewing ...

Week 13 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I sewed a jacket-

It is a wearable muslin to check a new pattern for size and fit. I used some inexpensive Ikea fabric that is a similar weight to the fabric I want to use. It fits great.

This is the jacket I hope to make, and the fabric (fabric I bought in Japan the first time I went), there isn't much fabric (I bought the end of a bolt), but there is just enough for that jacket.
