The Sew Wots gathered at my home this time. All except Jude, who was away on a family holiday. Heather arrived and presented me with a nice little bunch of flowers, such a lovely thing to do.

Our Sew Wot morning started with a severe weather event. Heavy rain was pouring down, the wind was fierce, and the fire sirens were sounding. What on earth was going on, a bit of flooding, I thought. But it was much worse than that, a small tornado had struck town, very close to me indeed, but I didn't realise this till later in the morning. Roof damage, fences down, trees uprooted, flooding, dear me.
I drove through the heavy rain passing a group of work men dealing with tree damage at a nearby park. Jude was the hostess this ...

She had been having a clean up in her sewing room, and had lots of goodies looking for a new home. I spotted a strip of three teddy bear panels, which Heather had received from someone else and wasn't sure what to do with them. They will be perfect for making three kiddies cushions for donation, I told her, as I scooped it up and put it in my bag.

read moreThis week we met at Carol's home, just a short drive away for me, everyone was there except Sandra who could not make it this time. We had hardly settled down and then the Show and Tell came thick and fast. First up was Helen, who had completed her Kiwi Block of the Month quilt, and her task for the morning was to stitch the binding down. This is a lovely quilt, make with beautiful batiks, and lots of Kiwi elements to spot, such as the lizards frollicking around and a pukeko and her chick at the bottom.
Our Sew Wot Tuesday was held out in the country, at Helen's rural property. Ruby, the large rottweiler greeted us as we parked our cars, and Helen came down to greet us and help with bags. Climbing up the steep internal staircase was a challenge for me, a sign that I'm getting older. No doubt Helen runs up and down these stairs with no trouble at all. It was lovely to meet up again with everyone, with one absence this time.
There was plenty of show and tell this time. Heather had some pretty baby knitting to show ...
read moreIt's been quite some time, but our Sew Wot meetings have now resumed for 2025. Mary was the hostess this time, and we all gathered at her home, excited to see each other again, with the exception of Sandra who couldn't make it this time.
There was a birthday to celebrate, our first of the year. Happy Birthday to Carol. We all eagerly watched as she opened her gifts. She received all sorts of exciting things, a lovely knitting bag, wool, threads, fabric, fruit tea bags and sweets. And a bag of toy stuffing, to help with all ...
read moreThese last few weeks between Robin's passing and waiting for the date of his Memorial Service I have been keeping close to home - a bit like being in limbo. Although I've had to make visits to the bank and the supermarket to keep things running, I decided not to take part in several Christmas break-ups.
I did make an exception with the Sew Wots Christmas lunch the other week. Thought I would be able to cope with meeting up again with this small group of caring ladies. The chosen cafe was The Emporium, luckily not too busy with ...
read moreLast weekend we were getting ready to leave for a caravan rally. Gemma decided to make life difficult for us, with all the hustle and bustle of packing the caravan going on. "Why not give my people a hard time and hide for a while", she thought. We were all ready to go and searched here, searched there, to no avail, then searched again. Robin finally found her curled up and keeping low in a place I had already checked twice! I don't know why she acts like this, after all she goes away in the caravan once a ...
read moreIt's that time again, and the Sew Wot ladies met at our home this time. It was nice to welcome Mary again, who hadn't been able to join us for a few weeks.
Welcome, all
It was a fine but cool morning, with a nippy wind blowing. The heat pump soon got things warmed up inside. Jude received a couple of late birthday gifts, a pretty kit for a purse, and a big bucket of Liquorice Allsorts, purchased from our local RJ's Factory shop.
Coming home from our recent Safari trip away, I had to convince Robin that we really didn't need an extra day away. After all, it would be such a shame to miss my two weekly Tuesday Sew Wot get together. So we returned home on the Monday instead - thank you Robin. This time we met at Carol's home. It was Jude's birthday, so we got to watch her opening up the Sew Wot's gifts. I'm sure it is just as exciting for us as it is to the birthday girl.
So what did we have ...
read moreThis time Sew Wots was held at Helen's rural property. There was a bevy of cute heifers looking over the fence at me as I came up the drive, watching me with their big soulful eyes. It was nice to see Sandra again, she hasn't been feeling too bright lately. We spent the morning chatting away, as we got on with our various knitting projects. Heather received a couple of belated birthday gifts, so it was exciting seeing the parcels being opened.
So.... what did we have for show and tell. Carol had been busy again, with more ...
read moreSew Wot Tuesday had rolled around again, and this time we met at Jude's home. It was good to see Mary again, she is in recovery mode and getting better. Jude showed us her new mystery quilt, a Kaffe Fasset design in pretty blues. That will keep her busy for a while.
Jude was first up with the Show and Tell too. She had a wonderfully graphic quilt back from the commercial quilter, and what a beauty it was. I rather like the way she did the borders too. There is just the binding to be done, and then ...

Show and tell is always exciting, so nice to see what the others have been busy making, Carol had knitted another baby woolly set for donation, a warm and cozy vest and matching teddy in orange yarn for some lucky little baby to take home from hospital.

read moreOh dear, I went to this Sew Wots this week and forgot to take my camera and notebook with me. Guess it's because I rushed out the door in a hurry. Luckily Heather and Carol sent me a couple of photos later. So there are no photos of Show and Tell this time. I'll try and do better next time. A shame as there were several knitted items, a pretty quilt, plus I had taken my two new oven mitts I had made for my granddaughter Megan to show. These are now in the post winging their way ...
read moreOur Sew Wot Tuesday rolled around again, and rather than have us all drive way out into the country to her rural home, Helen arranged for us to meet at the LQS Fox's Cottage again. Only five of us could make it this time. We gathered in the class room at the back of the shop, and Helen had brought morning tea for us and to share with the shop staff - no wonder they are always so happy to see us.
There wasn't so much show and tell this time, although Helen stunned us with her glorious black ...

This is such a lovely local quilt shop, and has a wonderful range of fabrics, patterns, notions and classes. I know some of us took the opportunity for a little retail therapy while we were there. I purchased some more pinks and greens for my daughter's big birthday quilt.
This is only one corner of the shop, there is plenty more

Sandra had brought a bag of feijoas around from her tree. Not everyone likes feijoas, but I certainly do. How nice, thanks so much, Sandra.

read moreMost of the Sew Wots met at Jude's home this Tuesday, with one lucky lady and her hubby away on an overseas trip. How exciting, it's been quite some time since we have done that. After a general catch up, and a look through some magazines looking for a good home, we got down to the always exciting show and tell. First up was Mary, who had just finished a pair of socks - the sort of socks which let the yarn make a statement. So pretty in pink and green.
After missing the previous get-together because of getting Covid, it was lovely to catch up again this Tuesday. Sandra was our hostess today. Everyone arrived, and we settled down, chatting away. There were magazines to look through and take home, and plenty of Show and Tell, lots of knitting to start with. I had taken along the blue jacket I had made for baby Jack, and Helen had knitted a lovely shaded blue and brown little vest.

I had a slight navigational error as I hadn't been there before - I was in the right street but was confused what number her hose was so had to phone and ask.
