Stash report February 14, 2021 from Making A Lather

Happy Valentine's day

The navy fabric is a wide back I needed for a quilt. I could piece something, but, I am getting lazy. The other two pieces were from the thrift store. The first I have seen in a long time.

to do: rug /day from Making A Lather

Sunday I posted about the corn stalk on my Mr. Scarecrow rug. I am slowly making a rug for fall. This rug will have an un hooked background that is overdyed with brown.

Facing the long boring skinny part, I had to play games with myself to keep going. I decided that I would hook one wool strip every day, hoping that once I started, I would get excited and keep going.... no luck, yet

Day 4 included more than one strip yipee

At one point, I thought I was going to make economy blocks using 5 inch squares, and these packs are bright and cheery. I haven't made any, thinking I have too much on my plate, as it is. Time will tell.

Stash report January 31, 2021 from Making A Lather

Flannel was a great price, and, I noticed that I don't have very many pieces big enough for the backs of bright quilts that have been started. I am slowly adding a few pieces when I see a great sale. I bought these at Joann fabrics.

to do: flower hooking from Making A Lather

I haven't been to rug hooking in a while. The pandemic, my hubby's retirement, and feeling behind has left me wanting to stay home. I had already decided, that, I didn't want to cart my big project (snowmen) out of the house any more. I picked a smaller, easier to carry project to take with me, when I go. I took a class last year for this project. And, I would like to see it move along..... I need to go to rug hooking.  And today is the day.

I can't believe it is the end of September already. Besides having too much fabric, it's time to see what my stash report would be.

I was very fortunate to receive a gift of fabric from someone cleaning their closets. It was a magical bundle of fun.

stash report: September, 6, 2020 from Making A Lather

I bought this fabric from quilted twins online. I needed to enhance my orange and yellow stash. I like quilted twins 1/2 yard bundles. I can get an assortment and it is good quality. Unfortunately, their fabric knows how to jump into the cart, so you have to be careful.

quilt and rug from Making A Lather

In may, I had all the bunnies fused to the blocks, except these two. I couldn't do these, because, they needed to overlap the borders. I wasn't sure about the borders, so, I left them for a bit in time out.
Now, I have all the bunnies fused, and stitched around, and bordered. The pattern, I am loosely following calls for 2 inch squares as sashing. I am not sure, what I want, yet. I need to let it percolate a little.

My rug hooking group has started meeting again at the library. My husband is a great ...

Before Bluprint closed, I bought a mystery fat quarter bundle on sale. I hadn't opened it, until just recently. I can't say I would have picked up these fat quarters, if, I were in a store, But, I am glad I didn't have to go to a store. These will be fun when I need to play with fabric.

stash report July 5, 2020 from Making A Lather

Our guild was gifted fabric from an estate. There were several tables, and we could social distance and take what we wanted. I wanted to add variety to my neutral stash, so I came home with this lovely pile of goodies. It didn't look like much in the overall amount of the fabric that I could have taken home, but, there was still a little over 12 yards in my stack.

Ordering fabric on the internet is toooo easy. I think these came from green fairy to live at my house. My favorite precut is actually the honey bun. I can cut my own jelly rolls, but I am not fond of cutting 1 1/2 inch strips, so if they do it for me, I am a happy girl. And I really like the mini charms - they are sew cute.

more cleaning from Making A Lather

To the left of my accuquilt, is a little dresser. And, when I cut for a project, I want to cut for the project, and not fold and put away. I have a bad habit of adding the leftover fabric and pieces that need to be dealt with on the table, until it becomes a mountain.

Big pieces make a big difference in cleaning the spot. I found shirt pieces and frolic mystery fabrics and a scrap basket for odds and ends. I found orphan blocks. The white scraps are from cutting triangles for unity mystery quilt. I end up ...

stash report May 17, 2020 from Making A Lather

I have uncovered another bag of goodwill fabric from before isolation. According to the look of the room I am organizing, I could find many more. It's a blessing that goodwill is closed. Hopefully, I have lost the habit. that's funny. How could I pass these goodies, if given the chance. However, I do like having less fabric to organize.

rug class from Making A Lather

Day 2 of my hubby's back surgery recovery, and, I made a good start on a drop stitch scarf. I'm sure I have altered the pattern with a little boo boo here and there. It is really looking pretty good, considering I was interrupted every 20 minutes. And was bored easily.

I realized I haven't posted about a rug hooking class last week with a teacher from Noblesville that our group invited for a workshop. We are learning shading using her flower pattern. Our choices were purple or red. My kit is the red.

This is our ...

this and that from Making A Lather

My hubby has back surgery Monday. We are in a daze, and, I haven't really been sewing much. I have finished a few more little things. I have a a few shoofly blocks which is a leader/ ender challenge at Quiltville. I am doing the same size as Bonnie which finishes at 4 1/2 inches. So far, I have not cut any triangles for this, but have used leftover triangles I have in a bucket.

I did quick count, and have 40 blocks.

I had a little snowman next on my snowman rug. He is cuter in person ...

to do shoofly from Making A Lather

My hubby's heart catheritization went well - no blockages. But, it was a long day. There were 2 emergency hearts that were the high priority, so we did a lot of waiting. The prceedure was 15 minutes, but we were there from 10:30 am to 9:30 pm. Now, we wait to see if the back surgery will be rescheduled. My mind has been a little absent lately. I was grateful for the fun little bits of machine time I have had. It does soothe the soul. I have a few new shoofly blocks.

And the pile is growing ...

garden party from Making A Lather

I have a corner of garden party together. I am very thrilled with how it looks. That is why I am a scrappy quilter. I love how a quilt with disparate fabrics can look like they were meant to be together. If I wax philosophical, that is how great human relationships are created. Enough, deep thinking, scrappy quilts are just fun.  I started sewing this quilt 6 months ago, and I have made great progress.

I have already been thinking about 2020 and what I want to accomplish. Thankfully, this year has been about a great fabric upheaval, and sorting ...

garden party chain from Making A Lather

I have made 81 chain blocks for my garden party quilt. I really like looking at them like this. The stacks look impressive. It takes a bit of time to make these, and eventually they will be part of a quilt.
Now, I need to trim these and start the setting triangles.

One of my unexpected finds at the Indy quilt show, was an actual rug hooking project. It was in the garage sale among some bags of scraps. I just had to bring it home. I have a plan to make hooked chair pads for my dining room chairs ...
