go fish from Making A Lather

I have made HSTS for fish school/ kismet in pink for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. hmmm

When I said I was going to keep the rainbow projects simple this year, I may have reduced the projects tooo much. Time to reconsider for the year.

I am actually finished with what I need for this year's rsc projects in pink. I looked around and found an older ufo in pink and brown, that, I am going to see if I can move forward until the end of the month. I don't have plans to finish it ...

rsc strip weave from Making A Lather

I made 2 pink strip weave blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Most of my scraps are smaller than I would need to get matching strips.

I cut some of the pieces for garlic knots. It's a jedi mind trick to make that older UFO ready for finishing.

pink hollow nine from Making A Lather

I was anxious to see what pink lurks in the scrap drawers for the the rainbow scrap challenge. It is such fun to start a new color each month. I did manage to find enough 3 1/2 inch squares to sew 3 pink hollow nine squares.

I cut QSTS for a border for box kite, an older ufo. I hope it will all be cut by the end of the year... or sooner. I only need 28 each month and I cut 67. I was on a roll. I did cut all the parts to make fish school/kismet ...

stars in blue from Making A Lather

My last blue project for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy is Lucky star. I bought a layer cake of batiks last fall to use for bright colored stars.

Two pieces of layer cake made 4 stars with some scraps leftover.

I also cut qsts for box kite borders which is an older UFO.

I never make a dent in the blue scrap bins, but, I am excited for a new color next month. I did not bring home any free fabric from the quilt guild free table, And I took 12 yards from my stash to the table ...

go fish - blue from Making A Lather

Last year's quiltville leader / ender challenge was fish school. I did cut all the strips I would need for the triangles according to the rsc color of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.. This year, I plan to cut the triangles and sew them into fish school blocks. These are the blue for the month of January. Eventually, I will use them in a quiltville quilt called kismet.

I am also cutting the sashings for an older ufo quiltville garlic knots. The blocks are made, but, there are these pesky sashing and border pieces that ...

strip weave from Making A Lather

I have more blue 2 1/2 inch strips than just about any other kind of scraps. It is always a good idea to try and whittle these down a bit. I made these blue weave type block for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This little bit won't help much. I found a whole plastic box of blue scraps that I am sorting this month. There are larger than fat quarters that will go to my stash. There are, oddly enough, 2 1/2 inch strips. Yea more! and lots of surprises.

I thought I would sneak ...

Rainbow scrap challenge 2023 from Making A Lather

The first project for my rsc uses hollow nine blocks. I am using 3 1/2 inch squares. I have a box full of 3 1/2 inch strips, and, I saw a quilt that uses these blocks in colors that I can do for the rainbow scrap challenge. I only need to make 3 in each color. I've tried to make the projects for this year a little easier, so, that, I can focus the rest of the time on cleaning out the UFO closet. Somehow, the rainbow projects take over, though.

I used my go die for ...
