Do No Harm and The Wife Upstairs from Ramblings of a Fabric Obsessor

I'm not sure why I can't stop reading long enough to write reviews. I have some from NetGalley that I need to review. Trying to get back to everything.Emma, a doctor in a local clinic, and Nate, a detective in the local police department, have a son, Josh, who has leukemia and needs a life saving treatment not covered by insurance. And with a local opioid ring causing havoc with overdoses, Nate's

Review: Photowall Canvas Print from Quilt Obsession

There’s a huge pink peony on the wall in the hallway. A massive pink peony.

It all came about as I was approached by Photowall last year to do a review of one of their products – a wall mural, wallpaper, a framed or unframed print or a canvas print. As intrigued as I am by the idea of a wall mural, it was the thought of what we’d have to do (taking down old wallpaper) before putting one up that made a large canvas print much more appealing.

I spent hours and hours looking at the canvas prints ...

Review - The Guest List and Hot to Trot from Ramblings of a Fabric Obsessor

Trying to catch up with reviews. It might be the wedding of the year - an rising reality TV star groom; a self made magazine publisher bride; and a remote location off the coast of Ireland. What more could you ask for? With 6 POVs and 2-3 time lines, it could've been a bit cleaner to read, but once you get used to the POV changing and the multitude of players, it is a fast paced novel that leaves

2020 Review and My Top 5 from Dizzy Quilts

Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs is hosting her 5th annual "Best of" link-up party these days. I haven't participated in a couple of years now, but thought it would be fun to revisit my blog posts from the past year and share a bit of a review and highlight my favourite 5 makes of 2020.

This year, I have completed a total of 58 projects - 31 garments and 27 quilts or accessories.

Of the 27 quilted items I made, 13 were lap size quilts, 9 were baby quilts and 5 were accessories such as placemats and table runners. Many ...

// slice // from Charm About You

The best tools are ones that make life easier, in this case the Slice seam ripper makes a 'not fun' task much easier! Unpicking is a necessary job on occasion, made harder if you have a dull or difficult to handle seam ripper. Don't even get me started on those tiny ones you get in sewing kits that go dull and rust so quickly. If you find that your seam ripper isn't cutting easily, it's too small to manage well or unpicking takes a lot of effort then it might be time to level up to a ...

Celebrate with me!! from Lily Pad Quilting

You may remember my posts about needing a stabilizer/foundation for backing my hand embroidery. I was commenting, er, lamenting, well, OK!!! I admit it!  I was whining!!

First, I found WhisperWeft and loved its drapeyability (yes, I just made up a word) and then realized that while it WAS a wonderful option, it was definitely not easy to source here in the Northern Hemisphere. (Grin)

When I went to a box store (that shall remain nameless) all I found was a stabilizer that seemed to resemble the stiffy-starched parchment paper I use in my baking. Certainly not what I ...

Oh, welllllllllll.....here is the stitchery just finished. All of the embroidery is done, and we are ready for the Big Experiment.

I included this as a close up because there IS a warning that I need to give you.
Stop hyperventilating.
It will be OK.

A thorough and honest review of Janome’s Continental M7 from Quilting with Kimberly

I have wanted to write a complete and thorough review about Janome’s newest sewing machine, the Continental M7, for many months. I was first introduced to this machine before the official launch during the summer of 2019 and then a new M7 arrived in my studio last November. I’m glad I waited to formulate my thoughts and put them in writing until now for many reasons. The main reason is that while I’ve been at home during the pandemic, I’ve had large chunks of uninterrupted time to dive deep and really get to explore and learn ...
