Hollyhocks! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

My grandma had such a green thumb and I remember she used to grow hollyhocks. As a little kid they looked like they reached the sky. Grandma loved her garden and growing things. Maybe that’s where my love of gardening came from. I was very lucky to live near my grandparents when hubby and I were first married and she helped me plant my first garden. I remember shelling peas, picking corn and beans. I learned how to can that summer and have been canning since. Whenever I see hollyhocks growing I always think of grandma. So when I ...

With everything going on in the world right now I thought I should get this going sooner, rather than later! Stars Quiltalong from Humble Quilts

Cecile and Bea are doing their yearly quiltalong. This year the theme is stars, so I jumped on the bandwagon for my firs time joining in on it.

Christy was working on her star blocks at our retreat and I was too.

Here's will be a lovely patriotic quilt!!

My blocks will finish at 4" and I'm trying to use the reproduction neons, although I"m faking it on a few blocks, cause I don't have enough neon.

The minimum blocks to make is 16. Mine are making a fun leader/ender project.

I got binding on ...

Toile and Fun Story of "Stinky Dump Quilt" from Humble Quilts

Last fall I purchased this at the Aurora Quilt show fundraiser. It was in a bag with a few other repros which I got for a few cents.  I was told it was reproduced by Sharon Yenter.

Wendy Reed has it in a few colorways.

Such a delicate panel/toile!!

Marsha McCloskey published this in her book, Blended Quilts 2.

Click to zoom in and read about it.

You can see an antique piece online at the Winterthur museum- HERE. So gorgeous!!

My friend, Paula, from Maine shared this story with me about her "stinky dump" quilt with the ORIGINAL ...

Back...Back...Backings.... from Humble Quilts

I was going to make backings on my retreat but that doesn't sound very exciting! LOL
I'm hoping to get them pieced and done before my retreat,

This little one will be easy to back. No piecing necessary.

This one is just large enough to need to piece it. 53" square

I have bits and pieces, hardly any over 1 yard. Here's a photo I snapped to my machine quilter- asking her which one she prefers. LOL Too many decisions and it is easier for me to ask her advice. We went with the one on the ...

Broderie Perse Exhibit and Almost Amish winner! from Humble Quilts

First, what is Broderie Perse?
In French "broderie perse" means Persian embroidery, but it also came to refer to the lovely applique of printed chintz flowers and other motifs onto a solid fabric. These exquisite quilts have been made since the 1700s.
A good explanation of the history of it can be found HERE at womenfolk.com

Cynthia Collier proposed to Quilts, inc an exhibit of currently made Broderie Perse quilts from a wide variety of talented women.
They accepted and it was one of the highlights of the International Quilt Fest this month.

Such an elegant block. One of ...

Aurora Colony Museum and More... from Humble Quilts

Along with the Aurora Colony Quilt Show, quilters donate to fund the Historical Museum. I am usually not at the show opening weekend, and I think that is why I found some amazing deals!!

Oldies but goodies reproduction pinks. (these for $2!)

Lovely red and black repros! ($3!)

Here is a lovely purple toile piece I picked up too. I asked about it on the facebook group and it was reproduced by Sharon Yentor of In The Beginning Fabrics. Isn't it lovely?! I rarely find good deals, so I will tell you I paid $1.50 for it!!

The Organized Quilter from Repro Quilt Lover

Let me begin by saying this is an aspirational post. I am not an organized quilter or an organized anything, really. But, I need an organized system to accomplish what makes me happy; maybe you can relate.

I am going to assume if you are reading this blog you like to quilt. And, therefore, are probably a creative person — a “creative type.” Generally, we creative types are free spirits, which doesn’t translate well into focus, planning and organization. But, if I give in to the free spirit and let it run my days, those days are ruled by a ...

Moving along to Block 2 from Heirloom Quilting Co.

It's Block 2 Woven-time
The great thing about laying out your units is getting to play around with color and placement, I changed my colorway twice before deciding on this one, I just had to add a little hint of sage green.  I hope everyone is keeping up and enjoying the Block of the Week!
