October Furtle from Espritpatch

Well, compared to last month I have at least something to report. Whether my sew-jo is back, the question remains open...

I eased back into sewing by fixing the sleeve of a blouse I made last year that had become undone. Didn't take long, probably took longer to decide to finally tackle it!

Next on my list was to unpick and redo the hem of my Aquarius dress, still not perfect but much better now. I still haven't taken pictures with the dress and now winter has come I'm not sure when I'll do it!

I ...

September Furtle from Espritpatch

So September is over or nearly... and what have I got to report? well nothing... zero... no sewing for me for weeks now. I haven't turned up my machine at all, I haven't stitched anything by hand either. Nothing, just a big blank page...

Partly it was like of time, partly lack of energy and partly no motivation really. The month has for sure been very busy with school starting back. And as we thought might happened, it has been far from straightforward so of course that's taken quite a lot of time and energy.

I had ...

August Furtle from Espritpatch

As I mentioned in my previous post, a good chin of the month has been spent travelling abroad so there has been some hand sewing time while I was far from home. Sadly I haven't really turned on my sewing machine much since we came back, apart to hem my daughter's curtain (and I'm glad I did it straight away rather than pushing it for later!!)

Before we went I made a few more scrappy baskets

And I also made a new pair of PJ for hubby, overcoming my Cricut fear!

And while travelling I finished assembling ...

July Furtle from Espritpatch

July has been quite productive in the sewing room, which I'm really happy about. Maybe I made up for the lack of sun and summery weather by being creative?

Night dresses for the girls and I, using only my stash

June in review from Espritpatch

June has for sure been a busy month with our youngest daughter Communion a few week-ends ago. I had set to make myself a dress, which I managed - just! I haven't blogged about the dress because although it was finished and worn on the day, there were a few things that needed fixing, and that I have completely fixed yet. I unpicked the hem this week as I didn't quite like how it looked... I don't want to put it away before it is all fixed otherwise I'll never do it and never wear it again ...

May Furtle from Espritpatch

Well we had lots of bank holidays that's for sure, which makes for longer weekend and shorter weeks. That's really nice in a way but it also means that the work needs to be crammed into much less time! We've also been out and about quite a bit this month so in the end there's been very little time in the sewing room...

One boring thing I finally did was to shorten my daughter's curtains (overdue by nearly a year!!)

I also made myself a new dress the Pléiades 2.

And I spent quite some ...

April Furtle from Espritpatch

April went in a flash really with not much sewing.

I stated the month with some paper craft for Easter on my Maker. I started by making some carrots to fill with chocolates for the kids and some little rabbits for the adults!

I also made a birthday card for my niece on my Cricut.

Very little progress on my Harry Potter quilt but the central portion and it's already so large that I'm really wondering whether I should quilt it in sections. I could add the other 2 rows after.

One project that I managed from start ...

March furtle from Espritpatch

Already one third through April and I haven't even posted my March recap yet... It was a very busy month once again with a lot of work that has sometimes eaten up in my evenings. Week-ends have been quite busy too and that means that I don't have much to show for it really.

I managed a few more Harry Potter blocks, so I have the middle 3 rows together now and "Harry"

I made very little progress on my Town bag, should't take long to finish as long as I can pick it up.

And of ...

February Furtle from Espritpatch

I had anticipated that I would not have much sewing time and I probably had even less than I hoped. With 2 business trips and one week of holidays, there wasn't much time left to spend in the sewing room. I took some portable projects for my travels but didn't touch any of them in the end.

I managed to make a little handbag for my youngest, just before we went away so I was very happy with that and she loved it (she picked the fabrics).

I also cut another bag that's in progress and hopefully ...

2 (very) long standing UFOs finished (admittedly, they didn't take very long and could/should have been finished years ago...)

December furtle from Espritpatch

Despite a flu-like illness taking most of us down for a good week, December has been a little productive/creative.

One long-standing UFO now finished just before Christmas

One party dress finished but not worn because the flu got the better of me

Some Christmas sewing for a more sustainable festive period with some gift bags and some napkins

And a few hours spent on the Cricut to work out how to use it and create some papercraft for Christmas presents.

Linking to December Furtle.

2022 In Review from Sew Preeti Quilts

As I sat writing about the year 2022, I wondered - what did I say about 2020? Unexpected.
What did I say about 2021? It was a year marked by assault on democracy, our voting rights and our bodies.

What can I say about 2022? The most significant world event has to be the unprovoked attack on Ukraine.
The most significant events in the US would include anti-LGBTQ policies and violence, continuing gun violence, and the monumental decision to overturn the landmark ruling Roe v. Wade.

Sadly (or appropriately) I made a quilt inspired (or disgusted) by each of those events ...

Best of 2022 from Espritpatch

It has been quite a chaotic year really. We had quite a lot of renovation work done on the house, which has seen a lot of disruption. We have had all the ceilings down (yes there has been a lot of dust for a long time) and have had to move furniture around from one room to the other as the work was going on. 95% of the work is completed, most of the stuff is back to where it belongs (but not quite all of it yet). I have also acquired a permanent sewing space in a corner of ...

12 Days of Christmas Sale and Christmas Projects from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Christmas is coming; the goose is getting fat. Please put a penny in the old man’s hat… Yes. This is the song I am listing to as I sit down to write this post. I am in dismay thinking that Christmas is only a few weeks away. I started planning what I was going to do for Christmas months ago. Still, after being away on a quilting cruise, put on by Stitching Heaven, for a week, then Thanksgiving and trying to catch up with work, I scaled back what I would be doing to a 12 Days of Christmas ...

November in review from Espritpatch

Another late review again... the month has been very difficult for our family sadly, we've been trying to get over the traumatic experience but it will take time. With that most of our "free" time and all our energy has been sapped up to be honest so there has been very little sewing.

I caught up with mini sew along blocks, I made 20 in total

And I also finished a sewing UFO: the Ultimate Coat which had been over 1 year in the making.

I was hoping/ planning to make a winter coat but I hardly started it ...

October in review from Espritpatch

Another late review, I guess I might have an excuse since we were away until Monday afternoon and quite jet-lagged on our return. We were lucky enough to spend 5 days in New York City. We all had a fabulous time, busy sightseeing and walking around this most vibrant town. I even managed to visit a few fabrics and trimmings stores, after all our hotel was conveninently located in the Garment District (that wasn't on purpose, honest!)

And for the rest of the month before our trip, we still had all the renovation work going on with 2 bedrooms ...

September in review from Espritpatch

I was planning to write this post over the weekend but we've had such a busy time trying to get wall paper off the walls of my youngest's bedroom that there was no time or energy left... September has been such a busy month really and very little time for sewing actually. First of all, school started back... We had friends visiting from the UK for a week, it was so good to finally see them as this was the third attempt, 2 previous times were canceled because of covid.  I went to London for a few days ...

August recap from Espritpatch

August has been a busy month but a different busy with 2 weeks away from home on a relaxing holiday. Lots of time by the pool, a little going out and about (when the heat was bearable)... holidays are over and school starts again tomorrow, back to reality!

Before we went away I managed to finish not one but 2 garnments, one top (started in June...) and one dress completed in 3 days!

I also progressed on my cross stitch while we were away. Still a long way to go of course but at least there's been good progress ...

July in review from Espritpatch

Another month that has flown by really! First there were all the activities linked to the end of the school year and then the start of the school holidays. We also took a week off to spend some time in the Alps.

And covid struck during that time... so I spent quite some time stitching away from the balcony.

There was lot of car travel where I stitched some Dear Jane blocks.
Before school broke off I managed 2 Open Wide pouches for my youngest's teacher

I also worked a little on my top but still didn't finish ...
