Really Random Thursday, 6/9/22 from Live a Colorful Life

Yesterday was our 49th anniversary. We were married on a beautiful day in Seattle. No rain. Beautiful light streaming through the stained glass window in the front of the sanctuary. It's hard to believe we are one year away from celebrating our golden anniversary!

We celebrated at Quail State, a trendy place downtown.

We shared chile verde tacos and grilled cheese. I'm usually a merlot type person, but I decided to branch out. I ordered a Vesper. I had never heard of it before, but if you are a fan of This is Us, you will recognize it ...

Really Random Thursday, 6/2/22 from Live a Colorful Life

 Hello, June!

Another slow week, at the same time it seems like weeks are flying by.

I achieved a milestone finally had to take a COVID test. Unbelievably, since the beginning of the pandemic, I have never had to get tested. The result of being at home a lot, I suppose. One of the grandkids tested positive last week and I had spent a few hours together, so I waited five days and did the test on Sunday. And fortunately, said grandchild has felt relatively well.

I have done more reading in the month of May than I ever have ...

Really Random Thursday, 5/26/22 from Live a Colorful Life

 It's been a quiet week.

The other day I picked Charlotte up from school and we went to a new boba place to try it out. But their menu was kind of confusing so we went to our standby, Boba Addict. Do you like boba? Interestingly, both places really like to decorate with strings of silk flowers...

I have a first cousin, Sherry, who lives in Canada. She posted that her son, Will Bonness, won a JUNO (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy) for best jazz album 2022. I think that is awesome. I've listened to it via ...

Really Random Thursday, 5/19/22 from Live a Colorful Life

A week ago today, I headed up to a cabin just outside Yosemite for a few days of sewing. This was the 22nd year I have been able to attend this retreat. It's a small one--it started out with just three of us, and actually our friend, Ruth, was not even a quilter back in 2000. But Dotty and I talked her into it and we joke that we created a monster because she became a prolific quilter. She now lives in Washington State and was planning to attend again, after missing a couple of years due to Covid ...

Really Random Thursday, 5/12/22 from Live a Colorful Life

After three long years of schooling, Christa graduated Saturday from the Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary with a master's in ministry, leadership and culture.

The ceremony was held at Selland Arena in downtown Fresno.

Aaron is on the board of trustees for the university so he always has to be at graduation ceremonies wearing his regalia. But this ceremony was very special for him.

There were so many people but we had a good meeting location. Of course, Gabe wanted to try on the cap.

Good friends, Jane and Jamie.

Stacie was here for the weekend.

Aaron and Christa had ...

Really Random Thursday, 5/5/22 from Live a Colorful Life

Let's begin with some cute little pansies. I find pansies to be some of the happiest little flowers.

I particularly adore the little ruffly ones.

Just when they are really blooming, it's time to take them out and plant begonias that will bloom through the summer. It's important to get them started before the heat really sets in.

Saturday I attended Levi's championship swimming meet.

He did well individually, and his school got first place.

Best friend, Mason.

On Sunday, my brother and sister-in-law arrived from Washington DC. They had picked up their daughter, Elizabeth, who ...

Really Random Thursday, 4/28/22 from Live a Colorful Life

Aaron and Christa were on a much-needed weekend away, so the grandkids were with us Friday afternoon through late Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, Charlotte was babysitting, and Gabe and Ella were at a birthday party, so Mark and I took Levi to Cold Stone, his favorite for ice cream. I tried to sneak a photo of him. You really have to be sneaky because he doesn't like his photo taken. This is what I got.

Our niece, Christina, sent us the coolest puzzle of Minnesota. She bought it off the shelf in a bookstore, and they warned her they ...

I enjoyed these big billowy clouds on one of my walks last week.

And though you can't really see them, for the first time (that we know of, anyway) we had yellow finches on the seed sock in the back yard.

Easter was a lovely day. The service at church was very good, and like last year, they had a photo op location set up.

Grandkids and friends. I love that they have known these kids all their lives.

We had our traditional Easter lunch of crepes, just the eight of us again this year. It was a beautiful ...

Really Random Thursday, 4/13/22 from Live a Colorful Life

Last Saturday, after two (two!!) years of virtual sales due to the pandemic, the West Coast Mennonite Relief Sale was held in person at Fresno Pacific University. In case you are wondering what this entails, it is a sale that supports the work of Mennonite Central Committee, which works in over 50 countries. MCC helps to meet immediate needs of survival during times of crisis like hurricane or war, and also works to provide better access to food, water, health care and education. Given what is currently happening in the world, it is of note that it began in 1920 ...

Really Random Thursday, 4/7/22 from Live a Colorful Life

I actually found some memes this week to make me chuckle. Since we are in planting mode here...

Saturday morning we enjoyed watching Gabriel pitch in his baseball game.

In the afternoon, the eight of us attended Hamilton!

Mark and I had seen it pre pandemic in San Francisco. Honestly, at that time we would have said we were happy to have seen what all the fuss was about but it wasn't our favorite. However in the interim we have watched the Disney production several times and listened to the soundtrack countless times (let me interject here that Charlotte ...
