Star Crossed Rainbow - a FREE Pattern! + Finished or Not Friday Linky Party from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finished and Not Finished are two Star Crossed Rainbow lap quilts.

Last Sunday I guest blogged at Confessions of a Fabric Addict during the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge and featured Star Crossed Rainbow in my post.  This is a free pattern in my pattern shop.

And here is the delicious backing.  It's Benartex Gradation in Rainbow.  It looked very weird on Craftsy's site, but I ordered it anyway quite awhile ago.  After I pulled it out for this project, I went ahead ...

Finished or Not Friday {a Linky party!} + Rainbow HSTs from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Not Finished is an ombre rainbow of 560 - 2" HSTs using Triangles on a Roll papers, using the entire rainbow of Boundless Ombre colors.  My plan is a wall hanging in a graduated rainbow.

I took this project to work on while I was in Arizona at my parents' house because it doesn't require a 1/4" foot; just sew on the dotted lines.  Having some fabric to play with really helped during the three weeks I was missing my sewing room.

The ...

Bits and Bobs, and all the Colors! from Fabrics 'n Flowers

A couple weeks ago I showed you my little Flowering Snowball quilt in progress…I was experimenting with how to make the block without using the usual templates. It worked out, but my blocks were a teeny bit wonky so I had to add sashing to square them up a bit. WELL! This little top is […]

I swear, I still quilt. from Kathleen Quilts

Blog posts have been a bit unreliable lately. I basically decided that there is enough in my life, I don’t need to stress about a blog. So I don’t.

I’m quilting right now on a secret quilt </p>

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Not Finished is a pastel twin Rainbow Wave quilt.  This quilt top and matching backing have been in my closet for oh, at least three years, so I think it was ready.  {pats self on back}  I quilted it yesterday and plan to bind it today, and then it will be listed for sale in my Quilt Shop.

The most viewed link from last week was these adorable crocheted hats by Snowcatcher!

Finished or Not Friday {a Linky Party!} + Kite Flight Quilt in Progress from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Not Finished is a custom Kite Flight quilt in the Summer palette.  This kit is available at Craftsy.  I've completed the full blocks and have begun the side setting blocks.  It's going together much quicker than the red version I made because I'm pressing the seams open and pinning rather than pressing and repressing to try to get the seams to nest together.

The most viewed link from last week was Preeti's Angel's Midnight Garden!  It's  a great ...

Custom Trip Around the World Ombre Lap Quilt {Progress #1} from Busy Hands Quilts

Today's fun project is a Trip Around the World lap quilt in Benartex ombres!  This is a custom order through my Etsy shop and is not part of the TATW Quilt Along I'm currently hosting.

Have you wondered what on earth you could do with the Benartex Gradation Stash Builder Bundle at Craftsy?  This is it!  I probably shouldn't tell you about this particular bundle because I want to buy them all myself!

Fiber Tuesday {a Linky Party!) from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Fiber Tuesday where you link up your fun fiber projects!  I'm hosting today's link-up party for Mel over at The Quilting Room

I'm working on two 30" table toppers which are made from 28 jelly roll strips with very little leftover.  A tutorial may be in the works.  This project began as an inquiry from one of my husband's aunts for a winter table topper.  I had on hand just the jelly roll for it, something that said winter but didn't scream Christmas so it's usable for a longer amount of time ...

Finished Or Not Friday {a Linky Party!} + A Sneak Peek at Castle Dreams! from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My first Not Finished is my next quilt pattern, Castle Dreams!  Here is a sneak peek! The pattern uses 10" squares along with yardage of two fabrics and a background fabric.  This quilt is made from Handmade by Bonnie & Camille with a background of Moda Cross Weave in black.  I will be using this as a background fabric again.  It is so soft!

My second Not Finished, which contributed to my first Not Finished being not finished, is this play quilting on a Statler computerized ...

Up, Up and Away {a Scrap Quilt in Progress} from Busy Hands Quilts

What ever do you do with the triangle scraps that multiply when you make binding??  I have an off/on relationship with mine; sometimes I save 'em, and sometimes I toss 'em.  I'm currently in the saving stage and plan on making a quilt like this.
Photo credit: Salty Oat on Pinterest
The quilt pattern is Up, Up and Away in Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison.  I noticed the pattern in this book a few years ago and had an ah-ha moment this week when I remembered this book is the one that has ...

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Not Finished is making a quilt for my next quilt pattern, Castle Dreams.  I'm making two queen quilts in the pattern, the first one is using Honey Honey by Kate Spain with a white background.  The pieces are all cut and ready to sew.  The pattern uses 10" squares and yardage of three coordinates and a background fabric and includes instructions for 6 sizes from baby to king.

Jasmine’s Bauble Quilt from Kathleen Quilts

img_4937-1

I had the most fun quilting Jasmine’s quilt. This is the second quilt I’ve done for her, and as she’s a real-life friend as well, it makes it extra special.

img_4936-1

I had the hardest time deciding what to do in this top white part. I wanted it to look like there was a star extending from the piecing into the background (You can see this effect better in the first picture), but I had the hardest time figuring out how to make it show up. I think I spent more time ripping things out the first day ...

Crossing Time Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

I finished piecing my Indian Summer quilt and pulled out another project I had started last year. I saw this quilt:

In this magazine that I have from 2010:

It looks like a simple patchwork quilt on point, but it's actually made of hourglass blocks:

I don't know why I was drawn to it because I haven't felt the need to make anything in the teal and red colorway that has been so popular, but I liked this before that combination became trendy. They are pretty together, but I just have nothing in those colors around my ...

Summer Solstice Quilt Along {Blocks!} from Busy Hands Quilts

Here's my Summer Solstice Quilt Along blocks!  They measure 24" across and are made from a fat quarter bundle of Kona Cotton from a Craftsy repurposed quilt kit.

It took me a long time to figure out the placement of the blocks.  Rainbow order from one corner, which I would have preferred, just didn't work.  This arrangement seems to be the best with the dark red block in the middle, which was confirmed when the sun went down and the block in the middle appeared so much darker than the rest of the blocks.

I'm back to ...

(Many) Quilts in Progress from Fabrics 'n Flowers

Fall is here…the air is crisp and cool instead of hot and heavy with humidity. It is a time of beginnings…returning from summer vacation, school for the kids and me, and lots of quilting projects! I usually am pretty good about starting and finishing projects rather than having a whole bunch of quilts in progress, […]
