It’s here! from Quilting and More...

What’s here, you ask? Why, my brand-new replacement Bernina 790Pro!!!! It’s been a month since my original Pro sort of blew up, but Bernina sent me a new one that I picked up from my dealer  last night. The only reason for the delay was that the local tech — a really nice guy — […]

Squirrel collecting Nuts from Lisa H Calle's Blog

Personal growth is never easy, but they say anything worth having is not easy. Over the past 6 months, I have learned quite a bit about myself; not all have been an easy lesson.

I know I do not like conflict, but I don’t know anyone who really loves it. Although I’m sure they are out there. I was pretty explosive as a teenager, but that did not serve me well. I tend to pull back and think before I speak, but then, many times, I “get over” whatever it was. My ...

Amazon Delights, Shopping, Pileated Woodpecker from Canadian Needle Nana

We are doing well with the healthier eating. The weekly box of fresh vegetables and fruit has certainly helped. There was a large cauliflower, potatoes and green beans lately that I used in one of those mushroom soup casseroles...actually I switched to cream of chicken and it was good too. I also made a lentil, pea and bean soup with added carrots and sweet potatoes from the box. Not foods Tony would like but he enjoyed the soup. And for me, I can make a meal of a salad. I always add carrots and oranges. I'm still using ...

Project Linus Inspiration from From My Carolina Home

I had a day free on Tuesday, and it was a rainy day, perfect for hiding out in my basement and putting thread into fabric. I have had a total lack of inspiration lately, and I think it is because I just don’t need anything for myself or for a gift. So I turned my attention to charity, as this often can get me rolling again. I haven’t made anything for Project Linus in over a year, and I had a pile of children’s prints that needed using up. I pulled out the bag and set to ...

Punting … from Quilting and More...

My beautiful Bernina 790Pro is still out of commission, though there is light at the end of the tunnel! When the local tech was finally able to get back to work after three weeks flat on his back, poor guy, he tried to order replacement parts for my machine. However, Bernina insisted that he send […]

Glow Ruler for Quilters from Patchwork Posse

Do you have some issues with seeing your lines on your quilt rulers? Is your sewing room dark with lots of shadows?

The Glow Ruler by Carolina Moore may be something that you want to take a look at.

The ruler comes in a few sizes – the larger one for cutting strips, the square ones for smaller trimming and cutting. The bottom of the ruler features a metal strip that houses the lights. You simply turn the lights on or off – depending if you need them and for storage.

The light glows the ruler lines which allows you to really ...

QT Fabric’s Queen Bee – OBW #108 from If These Threads Could Talk

When I started cutting the hexies from Queen Bee strips, I knew it was going to be a beautiful OBW! The Queen Bee panel is by by QT Fabrics. It measures 36″ x 44″. The Queen Bee line will be in stores June 2024.

I cut my strips for the hexies 3.25″ for 5″ finished hexies. I cut off the borders. The inner border containing flowers measured 3.25″ so I was able to use them for more hexies. I had a total of 106 hexies to design with.

I used QT Fabrics blender line Rapture to create Hollow ...

QT Fabric’s Resplendent – OBW 107 from If These Threads Could Talk

I removed the borders and saved them to use as a outer border and binding for the finished quilt. I cut my strips 3.25″ for 5″ finished hexies. I had a total of 105 hexies to design with.

I created Star 60 stars and surrounded the peacock with half hexies using QT Fabrics blender line Rapture. The colors Ocean and Amethyst blended beautifully ...

Sunday Stash May 12, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

I spent a couple days in Amish country this week but didn’t buy any fabric. We went to several quilt shops. I came close to buying in the last shop, but I have so much already that I haven’t found time to make. It didn’t feel like a good choice to buy more.

Another .75 yards out in the never ending declutter.

Quilting continues on Remember Me, although slowly. There’s been a lot going on in May and I haven’t spent much time with my sewing machine.

June will be a quieter month, or so ...

BOUND and Determined! from From the Strawberry Patch...

It was a stretch (literally!) to go from the smaller, close to the body movements that I mentioned in my last post, to those with a greater range of motion; but, as my PT sessions continued, I was able to graduate to the longarm again and get a few tops quilted up and ready for finishing. First off the rails was the "Potato Chip" quilt, a fun and fast-to-make scrappy (all 2.5" X 4.5" rectangles)

Just…. from Lisa H Calle's Blog

I was in therapy a couple of weeks ago, and my therapist asked me what gym I go to. I said, “Just Planet Fitness.” She asked me why I used the word “just.” She said not to minimize your workout by saying, “Just.”

It made me think of how often in life I do that. People ask what I do for a living… I typically answered, I just have a little quilting business. </p>

Needle Book Tutorial on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So, this week, I once again got after hand quilting Rain, Rain.  It dawned on me that it’s nearly 80% done and I could actually enter it in this year’s community fair if I finished it.  Well, as you probably

know, restarting a project is harder than it looks.  I had all these supplies – needles –
pearl cotton – needles threaders – thimbles and no idea which one I had finally decided on using.  Luckily, I had left the needle in where I last worked, and I could match the thread.  From there I found a great video that taught me ...

A Few Days to Piddle from From My Carolina Home

After three out of town trips in just five weeks, I was happy to have a couple of days at home. I needed the time to catch up on a mountain of laundry and some house cleaning chores. What looked like a week of meetings cleared a bit as one meeting was canceled and an appointment moved, and I was able to stay home on a very rainy day. Piddling around in the sewing room, I found this butterfly embroidery that I stitched out some time ago. As I was pulling fabrics for other projects, I came across this purple ...

Brown Bag Mystery Quilt from Becca's Crazy Projects

I had to play catchup with my Brown Bag Mystery Quilt. I was behind for clues 3 and 4. So many half-square triangles! This is the kit from The Crabby Quilter in Annapolis, MD.
I really like working with the solids. They're so forgiving when it comes to cutting and piecing.
This kit is from Mountain Creek Quilt Shop in Alcoa, TN. I bought two kits from them but haven't cut any of the other kit. The last clue is tomorrow and I'm ready!

How to Make a Scrap Quilt from Patchwork Posse

Let’s take that stash that you have sitting in your sewing room and make something beautiful with it. At the end of our quilts and other sewing projects – I always have a pile of leftover scraps and fabrics, so let’s make a scrap quilt.

I typically keep them in a baggie, but recently have been trying to use them! I’ve been digging them out of their piles in the room and using them in new projects and quilts.

For those of us who’ve already dipped our toes into the world of quilting, there’s something special ...
