Decades of Decibels from Dueling Threads

Who’s your favorite uncle?

It isn’t often that you get a call, and you immediately know the caller wants something, BUT, that whatever they are going to ask of you might actually be fun, so you let them talk you into a “Yes”. In this case, I became immersed in my first full T-Shirt quilt that I have dubbed “Decades of Decibels”.

I can’t claim design inspiration on this one as my uncle knew what he wanted. He had taken time to inventory and visually lay out the shirts he had collected from rock concerts over the ...

Bedazzled – OBW #109 from If These Threads Could Talk

When I saw this panel by Rubin Design Studio “Intricate Illustrated Kitty” of EQuilter, my heart skipped a beat. I just love the colors, the curves and the movement in this panel.

The panel measured 29″ x 43.5″. I could have cut 3.75″ strips for 6″ finished hexies and trimmed the panel to 42″. But, I decided to cut 3.25″ strips for 5″ finished hexies using my Star 60 Ruler. I would need to trim more of the panel, but I felt a smaller strip would make more interesting hexies. There is some stretching with bias ...

Shout out To QG Creative Design Society Members (Formerly TRIBE) from Lisa H Calle's Blog

There isn’t much I love better than teaching, other than a well-struck iron shot into an elevated green. The Creative Design Society is my ongoing membership, and it focuses on all things machine quilting. Someone asked me what is the thing I love about it the most. That is an easy question to answer. It is all of the members. While the primary focus is on quilting, we have supported members through some trying times. I, for one, leaned on all of the members when my mother passed away. The support was incredible. Other members have had falls, cancer ...

The Highlight of my Week from Allen Quilts

I have been very busy this past week. It was a good week, just busy. I started and finished a custom quilting job, but it’s going to a guild challenge, so can’t share just yet, tho I doubt any of the guild members are reading this. Probably better safe than sorry. I started yet another… Continue reading The Highlight of my Week

Adventure Lies Ahead Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Last year our boy and his sweet wife requested a couch quilt and when I saw this wide back print in September, it became my inspiration fabric and I built the quilt around itI pulled coordinating fabrics from my stash (one of my favorite parts of the quilting process)                              And cut

TRIBE no more! from Lisa H Calle's Blog

That’s right… we, meaning me, are changing the name of the monthly membership. So I am enlisting your creative minds to help me! Quilter’s Groove TRIBE will live on with a new name. So far, a few suggestions… Quilter’s Groove Society, Quilter’s Groove Insiders, Quilter’s Groove Clique, Quilter’s Groove Guild, or Quilter’s Groove Posse.

What do you guys think?

On the back end, I will combine the Design Decision Dilemma and QG TRIBE. I don’t even think many people know about the Design Decision Dilemma membership, so by combining them, when I ...

Free Motion Quilting – Bunting from I Patch and Quilt

Have you ever made your own free motion bunting?

A basic bunting design is pretty easy ‘to put up’. Before you start, add some guidelines on your fabric so you know the curve of the bunting. Use chalk or a fabric marking pen.

Begin by stitching out the arches of the bunting, freehand or with a ruler. Then go back in and add the zigzag line for the little flags. It doesn’t matter if you start the zig zag from the right or the left.

If you want your bunting to be a bit more decorative, consider adding another ...

What was I meant to be doing? from The Quilt Quine

Yet again, I have had a week when what I was meant to be doing (on paper) was not what I ended up doing, not that those things were not valid in their own way;) I did get 2 customer quilts done before Nella pointed out that she would like to spend some time with me in the last week of her Easter hols. The custom quilt had to have a few thread tails sewn in and the red flying-geese one was a bit of a challenge because the customer wanted the echo quilting to look exactly as it did ...

Sunday Funday Quilting and a Fun New Notion from Allen Quilts

I didn’t get too very much accomplished, but I did get the blocks for my great niece’s quilt all laid out and ready to stitch together. It’s another Strip Mirage, (pattern from Sew Yeah Quilting) and I used a jelly roll I have had in my stash for quite a long time. A little bonus… Continue reading Sunday Funday Quilting and a Fun New Notion

Garden Beginnings, Tiny 9 Patches, Cross Stitching, Turkey Pot Pie from Canadian Needle Nana

The storm is past and power has been restored for everyone. Then it was really cold like we had dialed back a season back to winter.  However today, spring hopes are revived as it is going up to 15C.  I did pick up my seed packets while out and about yesterday. I found out last year that these are classified seasonal and only available on the shelves for a brief time, so have to get them early. I bought more of the Zinnia packets because I had good luck growing those last year and they stayed in bloom so long ...

Pinwheel Quilt Blog Hop from High Road Quilter

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog, High Road Quilter. It is my day to post my progress on my Pinwheel Quilt as a part of a blog hop hosted by Carol Swift.

Like the last quilt I made for a blog hop, I decided that since I have limited time to finish a quilt with my job and YouTube channel, I would rather make a big quilt top that I can quilt later rather than a small finished quilt. I have been making a lot of small projects for the Project Quilting challenges so I was due for a bigger ...
