I am so excited to announce that I am going to be teaching on a cruise again!

I have taught on a cruise before in March 2024. It was such a great experience and so much fun and I feel so fortunate to be teaching on another one.

This time we are headed to Alaska – and I’m very excited about that!!

This was the saying that kept going through my mind as I pieced this block. Fiddly, and time-consuming; and my mind went to enough different places while I worked on it that I made several mistakes in the cutting of the fabrics. 

No coup here, but this was a good start on the first day of piecing this block.

I’m now considering cutting out the remaining pieces of the entire quilt so I can just sew, trim and press. A long weekend should fill the bill, so long as I’m not interrupted.

Well, this can be either the best decision in my business or the worst decision. You may be wondering what I have decided.

 This is just a fun little quilt I made for our granddaughter for her birthday. She's crazy about Unicorns and calls them 'Corns' and thus the perfect opportunity to use this fabric was created. I didn't have any ideas past that so I just cut the panel squares and pulled coordinating fabrics from my stash and let that set on the design bed for a while, waiting for inspiration...Sigh.

 I made a quilt for the April Showers blog hop. A list of all of the participants are in my last blog hop. Be sure to look at them after you are done admiring my quilt.

You know by now how these things get started: someone gives me something. In this case, as part of a larger bundle of possibilities, there were three matching 6-1/2″ applique hearts. Much too cute to trash. I did consider pot holders, or a table runner, or a banner. But what they wanted to be was a baby quilt.

Last week the Mancuso Quiltfest Show was held in Greenville, SC, and a few gal pals from our guild went with me to see it. I haven’t been to this show before, mostly because the ticket price is a bit steep – $15 plus parking fee. When I saw this panel by Rubin Design Studio “Intricate Illustrated Kitty” of EQuilter, my heart skipped a beat. I just love the colors, the curves and the movement in this panel.

The panel measured 29″ x 43.5″. I could have cut 3.75″ strips for 6″ finished hexies and trimmed the panel to 42″. But, I decided to cut 3.25″ strips for 5″ finished hexies using my Star 60 Ruler. The Creative Design Society is my ongoing membership, and it focuses on all things machine quilting. Someone asked me what is the thing I love about it the most. That is an easy question to answer.
