Modern Trip Around the World Tutorial and Pattern from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In this Stashin’ with Stephanie video, I show you how to take a fat quarter bundle and turn it into a fabulous modernized version of the traditional Trip Around the World Quilt.

To make the quilt you just strip piece your fabrics into a large tube and then cut them apart to create the “around the world” part of the quilt. Then by picking seams in a specific order, you get a cool look of the fabrics spreading out across the quilt.

To make it modern, instead of having the fabrics fan out from the center of the quilt, it ...

Free Motion Quilting with Stencils video tutorial! Master the stipple and leaf meander from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

When you start free motion quilting, you are told to just do an all over meander, keep everything curvy and don’t overlap your lines. It sounds easy to someone who has been quilting for a while. But to a true beginner, that can be very intimidating.

You have to learn how to create smooth even curves, pointy points and move around the quilt top with an even quilting density without backing yourself into a corner all while keeping your stitches small, but not too small with a consistent stitch width. That’s a lot to handle if you’ve ...

18 Carat Quilt Pattern Video Tutorial – Layer Cake Quilt Pattern from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

There’s nothing better than an easy pattern that looks complicated. 18 Carat fits that bill. You just need to be able to sew a half-square triangle and cut strips to make the blocks for this quilt, but it looks like you cut super complicated templates and worked for weeks on a top you can get together in a weekend.

18 Carat is made with a 10-inch square pack and coordinating yardage. The pattern is named for the sparkling gemstone look created by grouping the layer cake squares into color groupings.

With instructions this easy, 18 Carat can be put ...

Quilt-As-You-Go Double-Sided Placemat Tutorial with FREE pattern! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

I just love Quilt-As-You-Go Placemats. I have so many that I have created using my favorite 2 1/2-inch strip rolls. I just love how each one turns out a little different, but they all are clearly part of one set showing off the fabrics from your favorite line. And the best part, because this is Quilt-As-You-Go, when you are done sewing, you are also done quilting and you just have to bind your placemat!

But when I saw Tula Pink’s De La Luna I knew I had to also make these placemats double sided and use all three ...

OMG I have a pattern in Quilts and More magazine! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

When I started quilting 10 years ago quilting magazines were my lifeblood. I learned so much from the pages of magazines and they were the source of my inspiration.

I learned how to make triangles from squares, paper piece, sew curved seams. If I liked the pattern in the magazine and felt challenged by it, I made the quilt king size and mastered the technique by the time the top was finished.

So I am so excited to now have my first pattern featured in a magazine, the fall 2018 issue of Quilts and More. This isn’t new news ...
