Brazos House - Sock Hop May Retreat from My Quilty World

Weekend two is beginning.  Our numbers have increased and the house is buzzing once again with love and laughter.  The same rules apply as last weekend, no town visits and our new people have taken great care to be virus-free.  (please read the Mother's Day post to see why pics are limited) 14th - I have spent most of the day --- hunkered down on the sofa binding my 1995 UFO.  It is TA-DONE!!!

Brazos House May Tweener Time from My Quilty World

TWEENER TIME ---- It's quiet and perfect.  We have the five we expected and then my daughter decided to stay and give me the most wonderful Mother's Day gift.  Time with her.  The house is quiet.  People are either sewing in their space or just hanging out.  It's down time. 10th - Janet with a TA-DA - yep these happen during this time too. Perfect time.  Less tables in the room allowed for

Brazos House Retreat - "Biker Fun" from My Quilty World

The Biker girls are arriving and everyone is soooo excited to see one another.  The hum in the room tells me that so many re-connects are taking place and the joy is obvious to hear.  I LOVE when the room buzzes.  Frieda gets us going with the cutest TA-DA ---- (psst, she was a tweener and has been working on it more than this morning). Janet has a TA-DA too.  She spent the last few days on

Brazos House - March Tweener Time from My Quilty World

Tweener Time has begun.  Saying good-bye to the first group has taken place and it's DOWN TIME.  Much needed down time.  I have my Talking Turkey blocks ready to complete, but the motivation factor is really down.  We are hearing stories of panic buying and the Coronavirus beginning to be a recognized issue.   The days start blurring together and it's taking a toll on me and I find myself

Brazos House Retreat - It's a Slumber Party! from My Quilty World

The first of 2020 back-to-back retreats begins today.  It's a foggy morning with the clock showing between 6 and 6:30.  I was hoping for a bit earlier departure, but bed felt really good this morning.  The fog stays with me all the way to the center and the very first thing I do upon arriving (after hugging Val) is book it down to the river for an up close look-see.  I LOVE the sunrise on the

Brazos House Retreat - Red, White, and Blue from My Quilty World

Retreat season for 2020 has officially begun!!!  Even though I've only had one day at home, I am excited to see the Quilt Sisters again.  I know that the weekend will revive me and adjust any attitude issues I may have.  When I arrive at the center, Val is in full swing and has almost everything set up.  I simply am so indebted to her --- forever. As the place fills, my belly starts to growl.  I

Brazos "Down Under" Retreat from My Quilty World

Our Anniversary Retreat date has arrived.  The car is packed and I didn't even put a sewing machine in.  I have several projects, but if I get the first one finished, I'll be in seventh heaven.  It's time to hit to the road. Since I'm going in a day early, I am able to leave in daylight.  That's new and so appreciated.  The trip goes well and before I know it, I'm on the final road and crossing

Off to Terrell with Sherri -- Fabric Sale from My Quilty World

The plan for tomorrow was to go to Zavalla with my friend, Sherri, but the Subaru dealer had a different idea this morning.  Losing my vehicle to recall issues made it so that I could not drive to her house and spend the night for a bright and early departure tomorrow.  However, the totally helpful hubby that I have found a fabric sale in Terrell that might work for today instead.  A few messages

I borrowed this picture from Bonnie Hunter, it's the best lead-in to this post; a full report from yours truly, one extremely lucky "weekend beta-tester" of the soon-to-be-open Quiltville Inn! We gathered shortly after everyone arrived on Friday afternoon and posed here, on the front steps of the Inn, just before the rain began. The Quiltville Inn Retreat will be open for business sometime

Houston 2019 - Days 2&3 from My Quilty World

Time changes this weekend, but for now it is still dark upon waking.  Or am I just up really early?  Look how quiet the streets look. The view was pretty but . . . . now I'm hungry and  I know there is food upstairs.  Gotta go, gotta go.  While up there, here comes the sun. And window 3 shows how quick the light moves. You know how you can count on certain things in life?   Well

We've gone and done it again!  Yep, put a group of people together and let them talk.  It inevitably leads to fun.  We are booking a cruise for January 10-17, 2021.  The ship is Carnival Fascination and it leaves from San Juan, PR and visits the ports of St. Thomas, USVI, St. Maarten, NA, St. Kitts, WI, St. Lucia and Barbados.  That's right - FIVE ports.  We are super excited and since it's 15
