Some Of My Organizing After Purging from Quilts + Color

This is one wall of storage in our lower level. It is the area where I purged all those bins and boxes that a posted a few days ago from. It also was a chance to organize and put like things together. This is one of two shelf units in this room. The other shelf unit has also been finished. We also emptied two huge storage areas that will be knocked down and removed.
It's a good feeling to have lightened the load once more.

Studio Purging And Reorganization Finished from Quilts + Color

For all intents and purposes it is done.
Does that mean I have everything in apple pie order?
Not by a long shot.

I still have things to get rid of and things that could be more organized. They will not impede my working in my studio now.

Yes, there are boxes of donations that need to be brought down and out. Also empty boxes and bins that I may store for the future.

Some projects that are visible on my radar so I know they should be tackled.

The Purging And Reorganizing Life Of A Collector from Quilts + Color

Some of you may remember several years ago when I would set a goal to get rid of the number of items corresponding to the number of the year it was.
I was very successful and always met my goal.
I have not done the goal setting for several years but I continued along that path.
If you open this link you can see the where I was June 2nd.

This year I set a very serious goal to purge and reorganize my studio. I have been working on it for over ...

Cabin Under the Stars Quilt from Pink Doxies

I'm Back to Sewing &
Oh, Baby, It Feels So Good!

My urge to sew finally returned. (Did you ever wonder about me? I did.) It came back with clear, strong intentions.

Make what you love. Use what you have. Listen more. Talk less.

I can't say these are resolutions or even goals really. Simply put, they are intentions.  I want to live like this right now--not when I figure it out or jump through impossible hoops. Resolutions have such high expectations, and great chance of failure. Without success, we give up and quit. My daughter termed that kind ...

Modern Freefall Quilt Finish from Pink Doxies

 Freefall Finish

The days have been gentle, and almost slow around here despite Christmas approaching. The major purge is over, and it's become more of a daily maintenance to keep things fresh. There are still small spaces that call for attention, but nothing is screaming. With this steadiness, it is easier to let go. I know they are just things--baggage holding me back from better things to come. I have control of them. Not the other way around anymore. I choose a few spaces each day to stay committed, but I'm back to quilting with new vigor. It ...

Goodies of Quilting & Purging from Pink Doxies

Lone Star Beauty

One of many red quilts currently on display at the
Southeast Ohio History Center in Athens, Ohio

It's a Marathon--Not a Sprint!

The nitty-gritty of purging means finding out if things you are keeping still have meaning to you.

Do they serve you now or will they in the future? If not, find a person or place where they can do some good.

That was the mantra I had for the first many weeks of our house purge, and worked well for things that were cut and dried. You know, things that fit in either the ...

Stitch & Purge from Pink Doxies

Meditative Stitching

You can see the middle stitching is done, I think, unless I add to the blue block in the lower right corner. I'm undecided yet. The border is slower going as it's working the edge, and I am enjoying it immensely. There is no rush. This is the work that helps me unwind, and release the cloudy energy from the day's work. You may know I have been purging our home these past many weeks, and clearing stirs up our emotions and thoughts.

Does This Serve Me/Us?

Passing along items our family no longer ...
