Free E-Book! from Sew Diva Diane

Several weeks ago, Fons and Porter magazine contacted me and asked me to review an e-book. Well of course I said, “Yes!”

The old adage “You get what you pay for” does NOT hold true in this case. This is an excellent book.  Three different styles of log cabin are presented (traditional, courthouse steps, and chevron) and for each style there are great directions, including directions for cutting different block sizes.

The directions are straight forward and the book has great pictures and diagrams. There areextra hints that you can use for making quilts in general. I especially like the ...

Let’s Dust this Thing Off… from Sew Diva Diane

Why do I find it so difficult to blog?  One reason is that I have been keeping busy. I went to N. Carolina to visit with Mimi; I have taught a couple times at Mission Rose and have subbed at the Y; I have been sewing and knitting. Is that my excuse?  No, my excuse is that I get too lazy to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer.

Is it difficult? Not at all!

So today I loaded a bunch of pictures and over the next few days I will post my adventures, completions and works in progress ...

The Doctor said... from Wollie Mammoth

...take one class schedule, some BOM's, 5 yards of fabric, 2 rulers and call me in the morning!  This was the orders of the doctor who resides in my frontal cortex told me too do!

Although I am not able to sign up for any classes this year...there is always next year and maybe by then I'll be able to just walk down the street to attend!

My latest BOM arrived and it is absolutely adorable!!!  It is a 6 month BOM with a Halloween theme that came with a specialty fabric pack and buttons!!!  I can ...

Some Purchases from Mama Spark's World

I thought I would share with you a few cute things I found while out and about recently.
First off were these adorable note cards.
 Just one dollar at Michaels!
Seems like I am always looking for note cards to send out with swap stuff, aren't you?

Then I went to JAF to get the blue and yellow and the dark green for the tumbler quilts when I happened to go past the novelty fabric and this bolt just jumped into my cart.
Well 3 yards of it anyway.

Since DD1 raises peacocks I am always on the look ...

North Carolina Shop Hop from Mama Spark's World

I can't believe how far behind I am in still telling you about my trip!
On Saturday I got to meet Freda and Sara and her son, Ayden.
These are some seriously nice folks!

Freda picked me up and we met Sara at Wish Upon a Quilt.
I have to say this is a fabulous shop!!

I have decided that I really need to work on a quilt my DD1 drew and
so I needed some specific batik fabrics for this.
Not my usual "go to" fabrics so those were on my list of things to look for and ...

New Projects- and Finishes from Sew Diva Diane

I have actually been very busy-just lazy about posting.

Here is a new product at the shop.  The idea is old-in fact, this was my second project as a new quilter.  I am sure anyone who quilted in the 80’s made at least one of these:

Only I made this:

The pattern is neat-very similar to paper piecing:

I will definitely be making more of these!

I also made a sample for Mission Rose.  It is called the Izzy Bag.

It has a cute pocket for your cell phone-and I even put a zipper in it!

It uses just ...

Welcome Spring! from Sew Diva Diane

I am getting a bike. After researching for a few days, I picked out this one.  Barb, at work calls it a Jessica Fletcher bike but the real name is a cruiser.  It is good for old ladies with big butts, just like me!

Katie wants to put her trailer on it so I can take Dylan.  I have not been on a bike in over 30 years.  Maybe I had better practice first…

The Latest from Japan from Sew Diva Diane

As many of you know, I have a love affair going with Japanese books and fabric.

This is my latest book:

DSC02938

Not much from the cover, but look inside….

DSC02939

It is a book on reversible quilted projects.  Of course they are all completed by hand although I suppose that it could be adapted to machine sewing.  Here is my first project:

DSC02934

DSC02935

It is (to me, at least) the cutest little pouch made from just 3 hexagons! I just love it! It took me an evening to HAND SEW it all together.  The folding took me longer-the first hexie took 45 ...
