Safety is Sexy from Becca's Crazy Projects

When I decided to start skating I knew I had to buy safety gear. I'm not a young person, I've broken many bones over my lifetime, and don't fancy doing it again. I bought this helmet because it was easily accessible during the pandemic (Amazon). But, geez, is it boring.
I have a handful of stickers from different designers and hobbies. It was time to put them to use.
This is the most important one. I cannot tell you how much fun it IS NOT to hit your noggin' on the pavement. Safety is important and sexy ...

Assemble! from Becca's Crazy Projects

I bought this Marvel Avenger's panel several years ago. I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do with it but I knew I had to have it. Recently, Sam Hunter of Hunter's Design Studio released a pattern for making panels into bigger, throw-size quilts with paper pieced borders. I rushed to Hunter's Design Studio to buy my pdf copy.
I was too impatient to use the included paper piecing patterns so I made a bunch of flying geese. I promise you I'm going to use those paper piecing patterns. Just not in this ...

Knots of Love from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been making more hats for Knots of Love. This one was made using Knit Picks Comfy and the sweet Coworker Beanie pattern by Rachy Newin
This one was made with the Tensfield by Martina Behm. I really enjoy this pattern. Simple knitting makes for a lovely hat.
When I was done with that one I immediately cast on another. That's how much I enjoy making this hat.
Tuesday evening I finished up. Such a soft, squishy beanie. Time to make another.

Get Rolling from Becca's Crazy Projects

I want to share the many things I've been doing. However, it seems I haven't been doing many things. I did get some roller skating in last week. I bought these great wheels from Roller Skate Nation. Let me tell you, they are fast!
Don't forget your safety gear!

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

Under the sea! This one deserved a more water-like meander. Maybe not wavy enough. Pieced by Mary.
Flower power! Such a fun scrappy quilt. Pieced by Trudy.

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I pieced this little four-patch quilt and paired it with a coordinating backing.
A fun print that should make someone very happy.
This one was pieced by another member of Annapolis Quilts for Kids

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend asked for some more masks so I grabbed some fabrics and got cutting. Lining and outer pieces cut and ready to go. Now, where did I leave those adjustable ear bands?
I searched and searched and couldn't find them. I ended up having to do some tidying to find them. They were somewhat buried in the piles of creativity I have on my cutting table. I didn't have to dig very deep after all. That cutting table is still a mess.
These masks are really easy to cut with quilting rulers and your rotary cutter. You ...

Whoops! from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes things get in the way. I seem to have missed the regular Wednesday post so this one is backdated. Sorry.
Here is a picture of another scrappy charity quilt top I pieced last week. Maybe I'll be more productive next week.

As always, following my Instagram (@beccascrazyprojects) will get you more often updates on what I'm working on. Sometimes things that don't even make it to the blog.

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I made this little quilt top months ago. Finally got it quilted this past weekend.
This one was made by Trudy. I love how the border print makes the borders fun.
I used this ribbon meander. I think I'll try to use this one more often. I'll drop these off with Annapolis Quilts for Kids later this month.

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

My goal with working with Annapolis Quilts for Kids is to quilt at least one little quilt every week. Sometimes I meet that goal, sometimes I exceed it.
This past weekend I quilted two. I'm playing catch up this year because we haven't been meeting. Now that I'm able to pick up finished tops I'm stitching right along.

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

The last time I dropped off quilts with Annapolis Quilts for Kids it seems I missed a bag full of little quilts. I combined those with the few I made and those I picked up last time. That means I dropped off 20 little quilts ready for binding. I picked up eight more little tops to quilt up for next month. It's great to be working with Quilts for Kids again.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

Just a quick update today. I've had a busy workweek and it shows.
I grabbed these two balls of yarn and got stitching on my third Circle and Square hat.
I think these colors are really fun. I hope my family want striped hats for next winter because that's what they're going to get.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I keep wanted to try another mosaic crochet project. I decided to give Tinna's Queen a try. I'm not making it blanket-size. If I don't run out of yarn (yeah, that might happen) I'm hoping to get something more shawl-sized.
With only a few rows I thought it was coming along great!

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I almost failed to get this little quilt to fit on my chosen backing fabric. That's less than one inch before the leader on the frame. So close. Too close.
Learn more about how I made this Little Scrappy Trips in this post
These big blocks are so great for little quilts.
The scrappy border makes this one fun, too.

Luminous Wheels from Becca's Crazy Projects

This week this smashed box showed up on my doorstep.
Inside, and unharmed, were these wheels, new bearings, and laces for my skates. Because skating is all about the accessories. I bought these from Roller Skate Nation. I don't blame them for the smashed box. I'm sure the box didn't look like that when it left them.
Here are my skates before the change. I was using the dirty Moxi wheels from my Beach Bunnies on my Moonlight Rollers.
Here is the after. That's right, I decided to get Luminous wheels. Because I wanted light up ...

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

This is my favorite step when making this hat. When you get to cut those worked stitches in half and double up the fabric. This really makes for a delightfully squishy and warm hat.
I am having so much fun with this pattern. It is the perfect knitting while watching television project. What am I watching? Right now we're watching Schitt's Creek.
Another great finished hat. And yes, I have already cast on another one. I still have yarn.

Big Blocks Make Great Quilts from Becca's Crazy Projects

I have some larger pieces of fabric leftover from quilt backings. Some of these are a couple inches wide, some are larger. I also have a big bag full of narrow strips. I made some strip units and some of the larger pieces to make these really simple blocks.
Each block finishes at 17" by 17" so you don't need very many to make a little quilt. Heck, you don't need very many to make a large quilt.
I added a 2.5" border to tie it all together. This one was relatively structured. I made two identical ...

Little Scrappy Trips from Becca's Crazy Projects

I used Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trips free tutorial to make some blocks. I used a bunch of 2.5" strips cut from leftover quilt backing. Every strip was unique.
I used a single dark strip on the long diagonal. Each block finishes at 12" by 12".
I played with block placement a little until I had a layout I liked. Big blocks means I didn't need many.
Then I sewed the nine blocks together and added a border. I think I spent more time making sure I had 54 different fabrics than I spent piecing it together. Overall ...

Not so small anymore. These really are fun to knit. I wonder if I can make a marled one? Oh, the possibilities!
