Pineapple Crush Quilt ~ Aura Blog Party from Charm About You

Mister Domestic invited me to his Aura Blog Party and I was like, "woaaaah.", and then saw the fabric and I was like, "woaaaah." and then it came to me that this would make the perfect pineapple quilt, "woaaahh..."

So this is my ode to Mr Crush Turtle, with turtles swimming through the denim water and geometric coral reef! A tropical blend of modern and traditional, this quilt is simultaneously structured and choatic. Pineapples and Paris Star quilt from Charm About You

It's been sew sew sew at my house! These projects each have a lot of seams and used up a lot of thread. Completely worth it though because they turned out really nicely. 

My first project used the new Bird Pond collection in Blue and Teal by Tilda. I made two sizes of pineapple blocks for a 20" cushion front (which I did make into a cushion but I don't have a picture of the finish!). I chose to fussy cut the gorgeous Anemone print for the centre of the largest block and for the corner squares.

Playful Pillows with Island Batik from Patterns by Jen

This month's challenge for the Island Batik Ambassadors was to make a "Playful Pillow."

My "playful" pillow turned into a "painful" pillow. Sometimes social media can make it look like designers/quilters/people make perfect things all the time.  While we may know that isn't true, it's hard not to compare isn't it? I've tried to share honest pictures of my work space and work, this pillow won't be any different.
