X marks the spot!

Love the second design!

Note that the block used to create the designs in the centre is featured in the border of the last design. Easy to pick it in the last design, but well hidden in the other two.

This project file uses ten 9 Patch blocks, with modifications to colour placement, with a few lines either deleted or ignored when placing the colours.
I prefer the second design today.
read moreIntricate and interesting!
Also intricate and interesting, and on point too, but I like the first one better.
read moreI used this project file while demonstrating Electric Quilt at my state guild’s Festival of Quilts years ago. A very interesting experience, trying to design quilts while chatting to friends passing by, or answering questions from other people. Most of the designs saved were ones I worked on during some of the quieter moments, when people were watching what was happening on screen, rather than asking questions.
I like both of these designs, but would modify both if they were on the list to make into real quilts.
read moreMid week again already, so time to share some Log Cabin designs.
I like the on point square in the centre of the first design for this week.
The second one has an interesting centre, but I don’t like it a lot.
The design above looks like couple of Band-Aids covering a wound … or is it just that I need another coffee?
Not too sure what the one above now looks like. I do know that it is probably one of the few that I would not encourage anybody to make.
The last one for this week is much ...
read moreIntricate blocks, but all straight seam piecing, and using the background fabric for some of the pieces to create the border. The first design is really a pieced medallion … a central block with three borders.
I love the second design.
read moreOne day I asked my Dad what his favourite colour was, and he thought about it for a couple of days then told me it was green. Why? Because it is the colour of the crops coming up!
My garden is green because I have watered it through summer, but the surrounding country is a dirty gold. The crops have browned off and there is dust everywhere, but the rains are due in the next month or two, and within days there will be green there too.
I think my favourite colour is green too … I love how quickly the ...

Both designs are interesting, but I like the second best.
read moreI don’t usually like busy, starry designs, especially if they have too much blue, but I do like the one above.
I can remember wandering around a quilt exhibition and stopping in front of a blue quilt. I loved every thing about it, even the blue. All the shapes and all the fabrics were in exactly the right place to make the overall design perfect, and it was a perfect example of contrast being more important than colour to make the design attractive.
Love the second design!

Today’s designs are very similar, with minor changes to each one.
Three up, and two to go, and I like them all, but will there be a favourite in the last two?
I like the darker centre in the fourth one.
No, I can’t pick a favourite from this lot … how about you?
Maybe I will find a favourite next week, mid week, when I will share another five Log Cabin quilt designs.
read moreInteresting, but not too sure about the corners.
I hope those who look at these designs can appreciate the designs, even though the colour choice is pretty uninteresting. I have often stopped to admire great designs at quilt exhibitions even when I pretty much hate the choice of colours.
In any quilt design we can change the colours to whatever we like. The important thing is to keep the contrast in the right places for the design to work in those different colours.
Another interesting one.
Love the third! I also like the next one.

Love the second design.
Also love the third design, especially the combination of the pieced and applique blocks, and the quilting motifs.

More interesting than the first.
The final design for the day, and my favourite.

My favourite of these two is the second one.

As you can see by the numbers in the title, today’s selection from this project file the number will reach 35variations, which is about half way through the designs I have saved so far.
The Challenge part of the title today is usually reserved for a weekend, but I have been away and will be busy for the first two weekends of this month.
So this months your challenge is to play with Log ...

Second design is also interesting with the mirrored potted plant, and the pair of birds. I like the first one best though.

This series of designs are based on a collection of blocks, and have kept me amused enough to keep me coming back every so often and playing for a while.

Love the second one!
The next one is neat and tidy.
The one above morphed into a Fishing Cabin project file.
The last design for this week’s mid week retreat is interesting … I am going to have a play to see what I can add to the project file for future posts.
