Week 108 and 109 Photo Challenge: Birds and Frozen from Life In Pieces

It's been almost 4 weeks since I posted about the family photo challenge.  Both Grad Girl and I struggled with the photo challenge for week 108.

My knee problems were limiting my mobility, so it was hard to get out to walk.  As Grad Girl was a bit time strapped due to lab work, we extended this challenge for another week.  During our trip to Texas, we visited the Monument Hill/Kriesche Brewery historic site.  My Guy hiked the trails, I found a bench to hang out on finally found my bird shot.

Branson, Missouri from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to the "Show Me" state. Just now I had to inquire of The Google to ask why Missouri is the "Show Me" state. I found a couple of answers right here.

We backtracked our way out of Arkansas's state park yesterday. Fairly soon, we found ourselves crossing over the Arkansas River.

Looking out my window, it looked like this. It's a fairly large river.

Looking out Mike's window, it looks like this:

The Arkansas River is the same river we saw when we visited the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City ...

A Hike and a Half from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's time to move along again. By this afternoon, we'll be in Branson, Missouri, and we'll be adding another new state to the map. I'm telling you, the thrills never end here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch. We've enjoyed this state park very much. Mike said this morning that he could stay here longer. But with apologies to Robert Frost, we have promises to keep, and miles to go before we sleep.

We spent our last day well. Altogether, we probably hiked about 5-1/2 miles. It took most of ...

Cedar Falls Overlook from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We made good use of our morning yesterday. Rain was expected around lunch time, and so we wasted no time getting outside for a walk and to see the waterfall. Of course, we got Smitty outside before we left. He saw the biggest woofie walking nearby, but he held himself together, heroic cat that he is.

After that, we used the map provided by the park to navigate to the Cedar Falls Overlook. Along the way, we learned a little more about this park. For one thing, it was Arkansas's first state park.

Petit Jean State Park; Morrilton, Arkansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We've moved along to Petit Jean State Park in Morrilton, Arkansas. When I plan trips, I'm using this book to choose the best state parks in a given state.

Originally, I had one other park selected (Mt. Magazine), but decided against it when this trip got too darned long. There's always so much to see on a road trip like this one, and never enough time. We're here for two more nights. It's supposed to start raining around lunch time, and so we're going to try to get out early ...

Hot Springs National Park: Part One from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's our last morning in Hot Springs. We'll be moving along later this morning, heading to Morrilton, Arkansas, and Petite Jean State Park. We have three nights at our next stop, and we're hoping to see a big waterfall and to do some hiking. The weather is looking a little iffy for one of our days, and so we'll have to see how it goes when the time comes.

For now, I want to tell you about our visit to Hot Springs National Park. First, however, let's get an update on ...

Hot Springs National Park: Part Two from ... Cat Patches

A second good morning to you, my friends. This is Part Two of our visit to Hot Springs National Park. You can find my Part One post right here. So let's start again at the beginning of Bathhouse Row.

We were preparing to walk this main walkway along the bathhouses.

This first structure was "Superior Baths." It was a bathhouse, restaurant, and craft brewery. We had lunch here on the walk back. I was hoping to pick up a t-shirt for Erik here, but the only one in his size was kind of dumb. I passed.

Hot Springs, Arkansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and yahoo!!! Yesterday I added a new state to the side of the RV. It's been months since I added anything to the map. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, okay? Please hold your applause for a bit.

It was an easy drive from Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Hot Springs, Arkansas. This was our view for most of the day. We are still surprised at how green it is in this part of Texas. I might have thought we were driving in Michigan or Minnesota.

We're still seeing plenty of wildflowers. Yellow ...

Grapevine Walk from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's our last morning in Grapevine. We'll be moving along once we get ourselves together and packed up. We'll be heading to Sulphur Springs, Texas, and that will be our last night in Texas before crossing the border into Arkansas. Arkansas will be the first of four new states for the side of the RV.

It was a lovely day yesterday. Our first task was to get the birthday boy out for a short walk. This is another place where it's a little too exposed for his taste. Our "walks" are better ...

The Runaround from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! It was a busy day yesterday with more harrowing driving on these Dallas-Fort Worth highways. We had some errands to run and then dinner with a friend as our plan for the day. With much to accomplish in the morning, we were on the road early. It was raining, of course. The weather was pretty awful for most of the day, eventually culminating in a big wind storm. Today...blue skies and sunshine.

But let's get back to our day of errands. Heading out, Fort Worth loomed ahead.

Grapevine, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I hope you slept well. We find ourselves in Grapevine, Texas, this morning. It looks like a fun town to snoop around.

Backing up to our departure from Whitney yesterday, I had plenty of time for some slow stitching. The kitten's head is finished.

Now I've moved my hoop to encompass most of the body.

That's where I'll pick it up today sometime.

We waited as long as we thought we should in order to arrive at check-in time in Grapevine. I didn't take many pictures yesterday because it rained most ...
