Philippians 3:17 Part 1. For Marley! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:17 Part 1
Scripture
Observation
Paul confidently tells the Philippians - and us - to
1) join together and follow his example, 2)use him as a model and 3) keep our eyes on those who live as we do.
Application
Again, unity in following Christ.  Awesome.
Do you have a model for your walk? Perhaps a sister/brother in the LORD that you admire?

I'm blessed that I do.  In fact I have several.

One particular comes to mind.
I knew her when we lived in Clovis, NM. A close relative of hers had been found deceased.  The ...

Philippians 3:16. Sunday Slow Stitching with a Special Tool! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:16.
Scripture

Observation

Oh yes, my brother Paul!  Keep on keeping on!  No looking back!  Keep moving forward!

Application

How many times have I read this verse and never seen it!  Thank you LORD for revealing it so me so powerfully this morning!  I can surely relate to Paul's advice!

So many times, when the going got rough, I walked away from God.  Until I finally realized that without Him, I could achieve nothing!  I remember the moment so clearly - which is a miracle because my memory is.......well....not the best!  :)

I was driving, weeping and ...

Philippians 3:13-14 Part 2. Pretzel Twist Progress!! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:13-14 Part 2
Continued from here
Application con't.
We can all heal.  It's possible.  Paul certainly gave us the tools we need to heal.  I write from experience.  My life has been hard - very hard.  As a young Christian, these verses stuck with me over time, gently soaking into my soul.
Over time - years in fact - I've discovered these these tools work.
Healing comes in God's timing.
WE MUST BE GENTLE WITH OURSELVES.

1.  Forget what is behind.
This is tough, but possible.  We can never really forget, but we can attempt.  Some things ...

Philippians 3:15. Twisting Away! New Feature! I Like! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:15.
Scripture

Observation
Paul is saying that his view is correct.  He is trusting God to make clear this point of view to those who think differently about this (Philippians 3:1-4).
Application
Wow!  Now THAT is confidence!  Paul is so sure he is correct - and I agree with him.  To those who don't agree he is saying:
1) they are immature in the LORD
and
2) he is trusting God to show them the Truth.

Very interesting.

How many do we know that are faltering in their faith?
in their lives?

And it worries us.
And ...

Philippians 3:10-11 Part 2/2

Scripture

Perhaps it's time to apply the lesson I read in Chapter 2 of Bruce Wilkinson's The Prayer of Jabez.

He writes that for us to imagine that we are on a spiritual retreat to deepen our walk, as are many others. Philippians 3:12 Part 1/2 Pretzel Quilt Progress! Happy Mail! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:12
Scripture

Observation
Previous to this verse, Paul had listed several magnanimous goals which are as follows:  1) to gain Christ,
2) be found in Him,
3) to know Him,
4) to know the power of His Resurrection, 5) to participate in his suffering, 6) to become like Him in His death and 7) to attain resurrection from the dead.  Further, he wanted to attain these goals based not on his flesh and what HE could accomplish, but through faith.  This list can seem overwhelming.
Until verse 12:  He humbly and clearly states that he has not achieved ...

Philippians 3:10-11 Part 1/2
Scripture
Observation
Paul's desperation to know and become like Christ is clearly expressed in these verses!  His reason is simple:  he wants a spiritual and moral resurrection, as  expressed in the Amplified Version!

Application
Today, this verse reminds me of Philippians 1:9-11, which I see as a prayer for my loved ones.  To me, Philippians 3:10 could also be a prayer for our loved ones.  I don't know, I just sense a desperation in Paul in verses 10-11 to really, deeply know Christ.

I have to ask myself?  Do I ...

Philippians 3:9 Pretzel Twist. Organization For Many Pieces. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

High Quality Pink flower in rock Blank Meme TemplateHello Everyone!
I realized I forgot to add the "prayer" part to yesterday's Bible Study.  I could go back and add it, but I've decided to move on.  God understands our faithful, sincere efforts to honor Him.  Don't you agree?  :)

Philippians 3:9
Scripture
Observation

Paul's desire is so simple:  he wants his righteousness to be based on faith in Christ alone.  He understands this righteousness is from God and based on faith in His Son.
Application
Study of verse 9 could be a rather complicated and long process.  But, let's simply take it at ...

Philippians 3:7. I Like! Studio Tour Pt. 3 - Embroidery Floss Anyone? from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:7.
Scripture
Observation

Paul is referring to the "gains" he received as a Pharisee.  After he met Christ, he considered these gains a loss.
Application
How this verse resonates within my own heart!  So many objects, thoughts, books, and my own lifestyle seemed so inconsequential after I received Christ as my Savior!  As I go through my walk with Him, growing and maturing in Him, more "gains" seem a loss compared to the blessings He's poured into my life!

Our entire thought process and value system changes to become richer and deeper.  The wonderful aspect of ...

Philippians 3:6 To Do Tuesday from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:6
Scripture
Observation
Verse 6 continues Paul's litany of why he certainly has reason to base his faith in the flesh - though he clearly does not.

Here, Paul lists his amazing zeal for persecuting the church and extreme following of the law.

Application
How broken Paul's heart must have been as he went down his own personal Memory Lane of persecuting the church!  How many of us are trapped by our own Memory Lane?  Dear Ones, we don't have to be!  Remember Paul's point:  our faith is based on Christ alone!

Paul was definitely ...

Philippians 3:5 Part 2 To Do Tuesday - RSC 2017 Green! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:5 Part 2
Part One is here
Application
This is so simple, yet we make it so hard.  Many times, our own
lack of trust,
history,
and misunderstood doctrine
can keep us from the
life-giving,
liberating,
loving
hand of our Abba Father!

Prayer
Father, please loose the chains that bind us from simply trusting You.  Be it illness, pain, hurt, abuse, distrust, disappointment - whatever it is, loose those things in Jesus' name - that we may learn to lean on Your precious arms!  Help us to not get tangled up in the words of the "mutilators of the flesh ...

Philippians 3:5 Part 1. A Happy Surprise! Hexagon Afghan. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:5 Part 1.
Scripture
Observation
Naturally, this verse needs to be read in context - especially with Paul's list of Jewish privileges.
Remember, his reason for listing them is twofold:
1) to serve as a warning against believing that circumcision and keeping of the Law was required to show we are "perfect" Christians, (Philippians 3:2)
2) that we don't need physical marks on our body as prove of our faith, (Philippians 3:3)
2) to remember that he, especially, has reason to have confidence in the flesh (Philippians 3:4).

As he previously stated, our confidence ...

Philippians 3:4. Studio Tour Pt. 2 - Misc Storage Magic! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:4
Scripture
Observation
As we discussed during Philippians 3:3, we don't need physical marks on our body to serve Christ.  Our confidence should not be placed in such things.  However, for those who believe they have reasons to put their confidence in the flesh, Paul is preparing to strengthen his argument, as we shall see in verse 5.
Application

Our confidence should be placed in Christ, in our Abba Father,
not in our flesh!

Philippians 3:3. Sewing Room Tour Part 1: Fabric Storage from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:3.
Scripture

Observation
What a powerful Scripture with such clarification in the Amplified version!  Paul is saying we don't need physical marks on our body to serve God.  We serve Him spiritually with joy and praise to Him, not putting confidence on any part of our flesh!
Application
This Scripture has ministered deeply to me today!  In spite of the fatigue and pain of fibromyalgia (the physical), I can still praise God and serve Him in my Spirit via His Holy Spirit!  I was up to the wee hours of this morning Netflix binging and crocheting.  But ...

Philippians 3:2. Quilty 365 + A Fibromyalgia Update from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:2.
Scripture

Observation
Before I started this study, I had noticed that Paul was pretty blunt.  In his writings, he freely and boldly shares his faith - as well as his warnings.  Philippians 3:2 is no exception.  According to The Layman's Bible Commentary by Archibold Hunter, "dogs" is refering to the Judaizers - who believed circumcision and following the letter of the Law was required to be a "perfect Christian" versus having the uncomplicated faith in Christ.

Philippians 3:1. Scrapbooking Challenged? Part 1. Layer Cake Quilt. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 3:1
Scripture

Observation

I'll list a few quick observations.
1) The use of "brothers and sisters" is a reminder:  We are family!

2) We're reminded to rejoice in the LORD! 3) Reminders can be good.

Application

1) When I first heard a member of my church call me "Sister", I was confused.  Up until this time, I had only heard "sister" used in church to refer to nuns!  When my trusted friend explained the concept of family of Christ to me, I was surprised.  Over the years, I have come to count on and love my ...

Philippians 2:30. More Dishcloths. TADA! A Finish! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 2:30
Scripture

Observation
This verse needs to be seen in context - at least to include v. 29.  Paul is asking the Philippians to receive Epaphorditus  back with great joy, to honor those like him and reminding them that he almost died on the missionary trip.

He also points out that Epaphroditus ministered to him in lieu of the Philippians.

Application

I used to think that v. 30 was a bit harsh - until I read it in the Amplified Version:

Philippians 2:30Amplified Bible (AMP)

30 because he came close to death
for the work of Christ ...

Philippians 2:29 RSC 2017 April. To Do Tuesday. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 2:29
Scripture

Observation
Here Paul is giving the Philippians three distinct instructions:  1) to welcome Epaphorditus in the LORD, 2) with great joy, and 3) and honor people like him.

Application
Why would Paul make such a request?  To partially answer this question, we have to read onto verse 2:30.  Now, there's a lot to study in v. 30, but today we are looking at verse 29.   Let's look at the first of the three instructions Paul gave.

Welcome him in the LORD
What does that mean?   The Amplified version says:

29 Welcome him home ...

Philippians 2:28 Part 2 To Do Tuesday. Drunkard's Path Continues! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There!
God is teaching me to listen to His whispers of, "Rest.  You've done enough."  Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes!

Philippians 2:28 Part 2
Scripture
 Observation
We talked about Paul sending back Epaphorditus here.   I am struck by Philippians 2:28b - "...and I may have less anxiety."
Application
Healing does come, - if not on Earth, then in Heaven.  I don't say those words lightly. I've experienced healing by my LORD and now, I'm experiencing waiting for His healing – again and I weep.

I am not alone in shedding tears ...
