Finding His Peace. Slow Stitching. Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians  4:10
Remember the lesson from Philippians 4:9?

Learn from our mistakes - as Paul did.

Turn it around - as Paul did.

Find God's peace - as Paul did.
I'm working hard to find God's peace with the "new" me.  Yesterday's "Survivor's Rant" is definitely true - frustration and grief abound.  (To understand this post, you might want to read yesterday's post.)  But, I trust God's plan for my life...even this different life post-cancer.  I just need to make peace with it and His will.

Funny, it seems like an oxy moron - trusting ...

Philippians 4:9.Prayer Shawl #5. Grand Prize Winner! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 4:9

Wow.  Whatever you have learned/heard from me/seen in me put into practice.  What a strong statement.  According to Meriam-Webster, "whatever" means "anything or everything that; take whatever you want".  Anything/everything we have learned/heard/or seen in Paul can be applied to our lives.  Then the peace of God will be with us.

Wow.  I know that I could not make a statement like that to my children about my own life, so Paul's statement, quite honestly leaves me pondering......

However, as I look back on Philippians, I do see ...

Philippians 4:8 Part 3.. Chili Contest Anyone? Covered in Love Progress. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 4:8 Part 3
Part 1  Part 2

This verse remains in my heart.  Paul is making some serious assumptions about what is true.  After all, we all have different truths, right?  Believing lies about ourselves have become our truth.  Aha!  But, we can find truth in God's Word.  You see, Paul is doing what he always does - pointing us to God.  We should be thinking on God's Word, HIS truth.
So, I've taken some of the verses from Part 2 and went from this:

to this:

During a sermon, Pastor said it ...

Philippians 4:8 Part 2. Craft Project Management System. Quilty 365. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 4:8 Part 2
Part 1
A list of what to focus on, what to think about.  Each attribute is considered excellent and praiseworthy.
So, lately I've been pondering this verse - a lot.  It would be wonderful if we could always think on these things, but the truth is we can't.

Life happens.
our thinking gets distorted.
So, what do we think then?
That's what I've
been thinking about.
What do we think then?
What do you thinkthen?
What do I think then?
my thinking is just the ...

Philippians 4:8. Sewing Studio Tour Part 7. A Scrappy Finish. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 4:8
A list of what we should think you sometimes have stinky thinking?  I know I do.  Here is our solution.  Right in verse 8.

Here's my application:
It's not very pretty - it's part of an unedited paint chip card.
Oh, I've written about making various types of Scripture Memorization cards here and here.  I even made a Portable Prayer Journal.

But this one is different.
It's real.
It's simply what God wants me to learn.
It's not about pretty this time. It's about God ...

Philippians 4:7 Covered in Love and Kitchen Wares Fabric Pull.To Do Tuesday. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Philippians 4:7

What does the peace of God do?
1.  It defies understanding
2.  It guards out hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
By the way, what does  "in Christ Jesus" mean?  Let's find out.
During this study, I read the daily verse as if seeing it for the first time with a blank slate - tabula rasa.  Then I pray (talk to God), meditate (listen to God) and write.  Finally, I try to get a somewhat big picture.

With that in mind, I asked myself, so how do I get the peace of God?  In ...
