Project Quilting Season 13.6 Flying Geese from Mulberry Patch Quilts

So this is the last Project Quilting challenge (season 13)for 2022. As you know the challenge quilted project can be anything (from a quilted coaster to a full sized quilt) but has to be done (start to finish) during the challenge week. It’s amazing what quilters can accomplish.

I don’t have a lot of time this week, but I really wanted to make something simple so I don’t miss out on participating this week.

I used my Electric Quilt 8 (EQ8) computer program to quickly design a doll quilt/table topper with a strip of flying ...

Double Wedding Ring block from Charm About You

The Double Wedding Ring is a beautiful, traditional block that is associated with love, romance and of course marriage. For fabric lovers, this is such a fun block to play with, plan layouts and stitch! This is a bucket list block, one that all quilters will recognise and want to sew. It works wonderfully with either traditional or modern fabrics and is open to lots of variation within the pattern. I have made two blocks, one English Paper Pieced and one hand pieced (they are two different techniques) and will be demonstrating both methods in my upcoming online class. I ...

hexagons and hand wrapped buttons

I have been replenishing my stash of hand made buttons and small patchwork pieces. You can never have too many buttons and the patchwork pieces are really useful for page embellishment in artist books.

Sunflowers for Ukraine PQ13 Entry from Mulberry Patch Quilts

Like many of you, I can’t stop thinking about and praying for the brave people of Ukraine as they are under attack. As Lella Boutique said so beautifully in her recent blog:

“Sunflowers are powerful and relentless in their pursuit of light … It seems so fitting that Ukraine’s national flower is a sunflower. Sunflowers have become a powerful symbol of the Ukrainian people; their heart, strength, and determination to fight for the good. It’s impossible not to be inspired by their spirit. We pray for these heroic people to overcome the evil at their door. We pray ...

The 100 Day Project for me from Charm About You

I fell for the Merrow Croft pattern at the Festival of Quilts in 2019, where I met Margaret Mew and was enchanted by her work. My wonderful friend Michelle very kindly (and sneakily) bought me the pattern and gifted it to me later, just when I really needed something to smile about. It's taken me some time to start working on it but my plan was to finish a couple of other things first - they're getting there! With everything that's going on though I decided I really needed something that was no pressure, that I would enjoy ...

Life Is Just Peachy With Nectarine Fusion Fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Nectarine_Banner

We’ve been longing for low-volume! If you’ve been following AGF for a long time, you may have seen a couple of collection releases of low-volume fabrics but revolutionized. Before I get into the evolution of these fabrics, let me just dabble into what “low-volume” fabrics are, which may be a term you haven’t heard if you are new to the quilting world. These fabrics are subtle prints that read like one from afar, they are usually white, cream, or neutral color palette, but of course, here at AGF we like to push the limits!

Tæpper til Longarmen from Patchworkstuen

Hello makers!

For those of you that have been following along with our Patchwork Stories, we have arrived at another week of inspirational handmade projects, and this week is centered around decor and different ways you can incorporate patchwork into your home. We’ve seen some different ways to spice up our wardrobe and accessories, as well as some comfy elements to snuggle with like pillows and of course quilts, but what about the one place that is all about togetherness and bringing families together: the dining table.

Featuring coasters, placemats, and a table runner, this dining setup is the ...

shining blue quilt from Charm About You

This quilt was made last summer and gifted to a wonderful educator who retired from my kids school. I used some fabulous new products in the making of this quilt, which helped me make perfect blocks and perfect points with pins! I don't know why I didn't blog about it at the time but here we are, months later and it seemed a shame to have documented the making of the quilt and not share.
I sneakily got the girls to find out her favourite colour... blue! I went through my stash and picked out loads of blue ...

Enjoy the Comfort of Fall With Season & Spice Fabrics! from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Season&Spice_Banner

Here’s a fun little fact for you, I write all the collection descriptions from AGF Studio collections! When I first joined the AGF family, I was so excited to start on all the ideas I had for social media, but little did I know that I would also have the responsibility to do so much writing. I was always intimidated at first by writing as I never thought I had it in me to express how I felt, but as these collections were released, I did feel something! Flipping through every print,  I always found myself in another world ...

Silhouette Art quilt: Project Quilting 13.2 from Mulberry Patch Quilts

The challenge for this week’s Project Quilting Season 13.2 inspired me: “In Silhouette”. Participants have only a week to begin and finish a quilted item for the challenge, and it took me a few days just to come up with the idea.

But once I did get the idea, I was off and running or should I say off and sewing)! I found the perfect fabric for the background from my stash of hand dyed and painted fabric. It reminded me of a sunset.

I free motion quilted the background first using a variety of variegated threads. Next ...

Drunkard’s Path quilt using interfacing from Pieced Brain

Drunkard’s Path quilt using interfacing

Make a Drunkard’s Path quilt using interfacing for a quick alternative to the slow traditional process of curved sewing! Check out a couple of projects I made with it: nope, I am not making money on this post – just showing you a product that I liked working with and that can be a great way to tackle projects that are a bit more involved to make when using traditional curved piecing.

I made this quilt a few summers ago using a Moda Fabrics charm pack (5″ squares) and yardage of a light cream fabric for the background. I love ...

Enjoying the Path of Life With Flight Path Fabrics by Jessica Swift from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

FlightPath_Banner

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience how fabrics, colors, and designs positively affected me. I always thought that my style will never change as I always gravitated towards earthy and neutral colors, but there is something about color that always caught my eye. Although neutral colors will always be nurturing, I later discovered that it’s the bright and cheerful colors that complete the mix between cozy and happiness. Sometimes we just need a boost of joy, and today is the day you can experience that with Jessica Swift’s latest collection, Flight Path

Pure Solids Selvage Pin Cushion Tutorial from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

IMG_3486-MODIFIED-blog

Hi makers!

The holidays are coming to an end once again, so it’s time for cleaning, eating leftovers, and deciding on New Year's resolutions. One of my resolutions for this next year is to try and be more eco-friendly and reduce my carbon footprint as much as I can. I was recently shown these super cute pin cushions that use those scraps that almost always get thrown away due to no usage… selvages. Here at AGF, we have so many colorful Pure Solids with selvages that include the name of the color, so what a great idea it ...

Chandelier Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

The Chandelier Quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Do you remember discovering precuts for the very first time? Vanessa Goertzen sure does!

It was 2010, and Vanessa had just learned that her new baby was going to be a girl. On the way home from the ultrasound, she stopped at a fabric shop to pick up something pink.

The Chandelier Quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

There, she laid eyes on a stack of precut 5 inch charms, and a creative fire was lit! (12 years later, Vanessa designs incredible precut patterns for her very own Lella Boutique!)

This week, Jenny is stitching up one of Vanessa’s prettiest patterns. Chandelier is a quick and easy ...
