a clean table from Making A Lather

To the left of my sewing machine, I have a nice space, planned for holding a quilt while binding and other work on large quilts. Unfortunately, it is always a great spot for shoving other parts and pieces. I want to do a binding, so it's cleaning time. If I don't, everything will end up on the floor. I am also curious about what has taken up residence.

I found a tray of triangles. I can put those away.

There has to be scrappies - always scraps to be dealt with in any pile. I am trying to use ...

to do tuesday from Making A Lather

Last week's to do
1. start quilted twins mystery
This was an adventure- In all this house of fabric, I couldn't find enough brown or gold for the constants in this mystery quilt. I started looking online for any suitable fabric. I didn't see any that thrilled me. I wasn't going to risk going out. Then, Joann fabric sent a coupon for curbside pick up. hmm. It took 2 attempts, but I found what I wanted. I was very frustrated in the end, but I have the fabric. That is as far as I got.

2 ...

shoofly box from Making A Lather

I went to Sam's club Tuesday for, of all things, prunes. I was pretty sure they are not flying off the shelve and I would find some. I stopped at Aldi's first looking for prunes, and, found to my surprise, fresh produce and some canned fruit and vegetables, but, no prunes. It takes awhile after surgery to  - you need prunes.
I found them at Sam's, and I found this great plastic storage container begging to come home with me. It didn't have a fever so I brought it home.
Each container in the set of 4 ...

white basket scraps from Making A Lather

I sorted through a scrap basket, and it is empty. I can't believe it. It has been a bottomless pit for several months.

I had a small stack of scraps that looked like the right size for some 2 1/2 in HSTS. I had a great time cutting them into a useable size. I don't have any plans for them, but they are in drawers with their friends.

There were many shirt yokes that needed cut into useable sizes too. I don't have the hand strength to cut the yokes, so, I save them for the ...

to do from Making A Lather

A big thank you to  the hosts of to do Tuesday for the prize I received. It is wonderful and very thoughtful ( they added scraps) yippee. They host a linky party every Tuesday that is fun.

I don't usually open charm packs, because, they are sacred, but, I really wanted to see what was in there. It is beautiful. I hope to find a use for this right away.

Let's try this list making again.
Last week's goals
1. cut frolic 5 - done
2. sew frolic 5 - done
3, quilt one of my quilts - it's on ...

green scraps from Making A Lather

The color for the rainbow scrap challenge for January is bright green. Last year, the month of green, I didn't really do a look through the basket. I knew I needed to pull everything out, and sort through, to discover what hidden treasures I might have in the basket. My original plan was to cut everything into useable sizes. But, after it was neat and tidy, I didn't want to cut it.

After a good night's sleep, I was ready to cut again. I cut 3 1/2, 2 1/2, 2, and 1 1/2, and ...

more sand castles from Making A Lather

I am certainly late today, as my youngest had his wisdom teeth removed. He is 24 and has aspergers, and doesn't like to be uncomfortable, oh my. He is certain he is dying. I will not give him a bell to call me LOL.
I am moving along on sand castle blocks. I would like to have a top by the end of January.

I am digging through a box of scraps from a quilt show in June. I had surgery in July, and, then, I forgot about it. I found some interesting treasures. I bought this pattern in ...

red sand castles from Making A Lather

I like to make at least one sand castle block each morning before I decide what else needs my attention. They are built a little differently and I like it being different. When I cut my strips into sets of squares and hsts, I figured I would need 64 and I have basically 7 colors so I would need about 9 strips of each color. I have 2 1/2 inch strips sorted by color, so finding them was easy. I find that since I cut them that way, I make them in a color grouping. Here are 4 new ...

finished 4 patches from Making A Lather

I have all (512) the 4 patches sewn for sand castles. It took most of the year to sew them as leaders and enders for other projects. I am ready to start cutting the setting pieces for this quilt. I am not in a hurry and didn't plan on finishing this year even, but the 4 patches seemed to go on forever.

But, oops, the cutting table has suffered a bit this year. Partly because I couldn't bend over after back surgery - still can't - to put stuff where they go and partly, if I felt like quilting ...
