This has been a long time project. Well, it seems that way. It became part of my 5 quilt UFO project in March. I had 10 cut in April. I had 5 made in May. I made more blocks in June. All the blocks were made in July And the top is made in August. Jen didn't border hers, but, I am worried if I don't do something, it will be hard to have the binding meet the points on the edges. decisions..decisions...decisions
Hand me down is finished. This is an older UFo from 2018. I found this pattern in the first Bonnie Hunter book scraps and shirttails. I brought this out of the UFO closet in March of this year, and, it was a top in April. I love this quilt. It is more colorful than it appears on camera. It is made with recycled shirts and a blue from my stash. It was part of my 5 quilts project, but, was late making it to the longarm.

I needed to cut a bunch of 4 1/2 inch squares ( blocks from a swap and quilt here ) for the rest of the uneven 9 patches I have left. I was able to see a size of quilt that I would want with some of them. I think I want it longer, as far as I can, with what I have left of the blocks. I have been able to use up smaller pieces of cream scraps for the 4 1/2 inch alternate blocks. It feels good to clean up a stack of odd pieces.

I have a bunch (scientific term) of leftover blocks from a swap and circa 1880 quilt here. It is time to stop moving them around, and, do something with them. The blocks are 4 1/2 inches. I cut a variety of 4 1/2 inch creams, and, started sewing them at a guild open sew. This is as far as I got. I still have a pile of squares that need trimmed, and, it might be enough to make a good size quilt. So, more trimming and cutting, and then, we can resume the regularly scheduled program. I am ...
read moreI am so excited. I have all the blocks done for rectangle wrangle, and, I have started to assemble the top. I think it is going to be a fun quilt to make. Other than playing with the blocks to see how they will look together, I am just sewing twosies.
My One monthly goal for July was to have all 84 blocks finished And, I have met the goal. yipee
I have also played with making the ohio star blocks for the border. I think I have made 4. They are small, and, I need 56 of them. I ...
read moreI am finally working on the downhill blocks for rectangle wrangle. All of the uphill blocks are finished. I think the remaining strips are a little ho hum, but, I will use them. Apparently, I have pulled out all my favorites. In such a busy quilt, they will fit just fine.
I finished scrap box chevron in the nick of time for my one monthly goal for May. I put the last stitches in the binding yesterday. I had a few customer quilts that took priority this month, and, I wasn't sure I could make it. I started it in 2013 and it was ready to quilt in 2014. Yes, it has waited that long to be quilted. Many of my quilts that stall at the quilting stage are there because I am not a fancy quilter. I think I save them to do the new modern fancy stuff, but ...
read moreI started this UFO as a workshop in 2013, before, I started blogging. I remember buying the pattern at a quilt show in Bloomington Indiana. It has been ready to finish since 2014. What a patient quilt. I can imagine it waiting in the 'to be closet' cheering every quilt that was chosen and moved on, hoping that it would have it's turn. May is the month. It is my one monthly goal to assess what it needs, and, get it done.

kristals is a top. They are brighter than in the pictures. I took the photo at the library. It must be noted, as part of the friendly competetion between Linda and me, I was 4 days ahead of her in finishing the top. And, yep, since I am her longarmer, Guess who will win the finished quilt? But, I love her version, and mine.

I have decided to finish my kristals quilt for March as my one monthly goal. I have 3 blocks together. and I want to make 9. So far, I have the rest of the blocks on the design wall in a sketchy pattern to check for fabrics. The first block was a head scratcher, then, it started to make more sense, and, then, it was fun. Probably true for all challenges in the quilting world.

I have a finish and a one monthly goal completion to celebrate. My circa 1880 quilt is finished. I used 225 swap blocks from my quilty friends to make the top and added a border fabric that was gifted to me from another quilty friend some time ago. I could not be more pleased. The photos are a little dark from an Indiana dreary winter day, but, the quilt is shiny to me. So much talent from other quilters are part of my quilt in each little block.

I am tiring of this quilt, again. It has been in time out 2 other times for various reasons. I will make this my February one monthly goal, hoping that the goal will inspire me to stick to it. It began as a swap. The blocks were my one monthly goal for January 2019
I have the border sewn. But it is too tight, so I will need to unpick it, and remeasure, and resew. A tiny set back that has me scratching my head. What happened? I want to quilt and bind by the end of february.
Sea swept is finished and ready for our Spring guild quilt show. This was my January one monthly goal at elm street quilts. It is a beautiful quilt. I really like the colors, and, snails trail has been on my bucket list for years. All I needed to get started, was my sewing friend deciding she wanted to make one too. I started cutting in May 2021.

I can't believe it is a new year already. So much possiblity ahead. Good or bad, I feel blessed knowing I am God's child and He will direct me for good.
I think my last post for this quilt was here in September 2021. This is one of the quilts I want to enter into our Spring quilt show 2023. I need to make sure I get it really ready in time. I will make this my January one monthly goal. I need to check on borders and find a back and binding for it. It needs quilting ...
read moreMy boho heart quilt is finished in time for my one monthly goal for December 2022. I really like it, and I am glad to mark this off the list. Hidden in this quilt are a few vintage blocks, my orphan blocks that remind me of quilts past, and scraps from other quilters I admire.
