I started a new quilt with a quilting buddy. I cut the print part at an open sew. I still need to cut the background. My initial impression is that the instructions were not written in my way of thinking. I will have to do a lot of repeat reading to understand the next steps.
I have no business starting anything new this year. I have enough UFOs to last a lifetime that should keep me busy. On the other hand, I have had the pattern long enough, and the fabric pulled long enough, it could be defined as an ...
read moreI was anxious to see what pink lurks in the scrap drawers for the the rainbow scrap challenge. It is such fun to start a new color each month. I did manage to find enough 3 1/2 inch squares to sew 3 pink hollow nine squares.
My last blue project for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy is Lucky star. I bought a layer cake of batiks last fall to use for bright colored stars.
I have more blue 2 1/2 inch strips than just about any other kind of scraps. It is always a good idea to try and whittle these down a bit. I made these blue weave type block for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This little bit won't help much. I found a whole plastic box of blue scraps that I am sorting this month. There are larger than fat quarters that will go to my stash. There are, oddly enough, 2 1/2 inch strips. Yea more! and lots of surprises.
I thought I would sneak ...
read moreThe first project for my rsc uses hollow nine blocks. I am using 3 1/2 inch squares. I have a box full of 3 1/2 inch strips, and, I saw a quilt that uses these blocks in colors that I can do for the rainbow scrap challenge. I only need to make 3 in each color. I've tried to make the projects for this year a little easier, so, that, I can focus the rest of the time on cleaning out the UFO closet. Somehow, the rainbow projects take over, though.
I haven't started a new quilt. I am just cleaning up the odd scraps near my sewing machine. The fact that the little string blocks are the right size for quiltville's newer pattern crazie mazie is purely a coincidence. Sometimes, a girl, just has to make string blocks. The mess, and the need for no thinking sewing combine, and, string blocks are born.
These are quick, cute little 5 inch blocks that use the smallest bits. I have finished a couple of big quilts lately and I am giving myself a reward.
I blogged about my UFO dilemma here. I now have 20 blocks finished, enough for a lap size quilt. I have certainly had fun making these, but, what to do with them, now. I have all but a bit of the scraps used, and, I am ready to move on from here. I don't want to make a quilt. I am guessing I will put them into the parts department.
Hi everyone!!
I've managed to get some stuff done and I get to post!!!
First up....."Trunk or Treat" We got together at your local community center last night. The children were running around all sugared up and having a blast. This activity is a substitute for the door to door celebration which has become dangerous for children.
I was looking at my UFO list in an attempt to just delete some. I thought I could give them away and/ or find someone who might want to finish them. My list included one called 16 patch. I didn't remember it, so, I dug it out of the closet.
It was just coordinating scraps in strips, mostly. There was enough to make 20 -16 patch blocks. I decided I would not make this. I have plenty of other ufo projects to last a lifetime. I have to be ruthless, and start reducing the herd.
I decided to take ...

Bow tie blocks were the 2011 quiltville mystery leader/ ender challenge, and Bonnie's first. She did hers with cheddar fabric, I believe. I wanted something a little brighter. At the time, I had a bunch of scraps that were polka dots, and so, it began. With the 2022 announcement, I realized I didn't have a great finishing success record. I think 2 out of 12. But, I started all of them. I decided to try finishing one this year instead of starting a new one...... so far. It was an easy choice, start with number one. Remembering my ...
