The Craig and Jo Show… from Jo's Country Junction

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a blog post called the Craig and Jo show. For anyone new here, Craig is my son-in-law, married to my daughter Kalissa.  Craig is a great guy.  He honestly is like a son to me and we’re super close.  He is handy and happily, he doesn’t mind helping me.

Craig used to work as a mechanic at a farm implement dealer.  After my husband Kramer died, he ended up switching jobs and started working for the same farmer Kramer did.  Craigs hours have changed dramatically and he isn ...

Make-A-List Monday - It's Getting Hot 'Round Here! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

We've had quite a change here since last week, when I was wondering if it was really May due to the 40 degree mornings we were experiencing. This week we will have our first 90 degree day of the year!  Oh well, such is life in Tennessee!

Last week was a busy one, with much of my time spent working in the yard.  Let's see how the list went!

1.  Work on the front planters.
We made SO much progress with this project!  First up was this back corner, where we pulled out the English ivy ...

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Baby Steps... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Friday has rolled around once again, and that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Then let's get started!

It's been a week filled with finishes, near-finishes, beginnings, and ongoing results.  First, a near-finish...

This t-shirt quilt top is finished and just waiting for the backing to arrive!

And then a finish....

Our new shower door was finally installed!  We've been trying to do this since the end of December, and after a multitude of problems, it's finally done.  Now at least I don't have ...

The Evolution of my Kitchen from Jo's Country Junction

I spent some time going through the archives from 2014.  I was putting together a parade of quilts I made that year.  Let me say it took me forever to get through it all.  It was the year we remodeled the house.  If you want to see a real live makeover of a foreclosure house, go through the archives of 2014.  The ENTIRE YEAR was spent working on this house.  There is an archive button on the right hand column of the blog.  You can click to 2014 and have a look it you’d like.

I was so ...

My Bathroom Vanity from Jo's Country Junction

You might remember when Kramer, my husband who passed away from lung cancer, was sick and broke his neck our family went into a scramble to try to get the bathroom on the main floor so he would have a shower that was handicapped accessible for him.  Kramer’s decline was fast and we never got it done.

We took good care of him and in the end, we were able to handle everything without that shower.  But…what about now.  What about me?  I might need that bathroom in the years to come and I’d like it to ...

Sewing Room Tour from Jo's Country Junction

Hey you all…Today’s the day.  I am showing off my sewing room!!  I am so excited!!  This is a dream come true for me.  I couldn’t be happier.

Let me start my story at the beginning.  We bought a foreclosure house in 2013.  We remodeled it in 2014 and moved with it still unfinished in 2015.  We had trim to do, and my trim in my sewing room still isn’t done.

For the first few years of living here, I went with the flow.  I didn’t spend any extra money in the sewing room.  I ...

The Garage Project from Jo's Country Junction

This weekend was the day to start the work on the back garage.  For you who have been reading the blog since 2014 when we took an old foreclosure house and made it our own this is old news but for those of you haven’t, here’s the back story.

In August of 2013 we bought an old foreclosure house.  It was a single lot house.  There was no garage attached.  We wanted to remodel and attach a garage to it.  The problem, the lot wasn’t large enough to allow a garage to be attached to the right ...

My Stairs: Sandless Wood Refinishing from Jo's Country Junction

I told you a bit ago about my steps going upstairs….They were still not finished.

I told you that I was considering getting a “sandless company” to come in and redo them.

Well I wrote a post about it and had pretty much decided that I was going to do it.  The blog post was scheduled for a few days away from the time I wrote it.

I called the company and told them to come and do the stairs.  They were available to come do it three days later.  On the day my blog posted, the guys were ...

Make-A-List Monday - Better Late Than Never! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I am more than a little bit behind this week, it appears - since it's Tuesday night and I'm watching This Is Us while I write this blogpost!  But it's been a good week - in addition to working on my list, we FINALLY got the carpet done in my husband's office (third time is the charm, apparently!) and we found some floor in the garage.

So let's take a look at last week's list....

1.  Finish getting Jolene and her frame set up and connected.
Done!  It's so nice to have her ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Things Are Looking Up! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It seems like forever since last Friday, but guess what?  It's rolled around again, and it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

This week has been dedicated to getting things in order at our new home.  Granted, I've been doing that while battling a cold - why do we always seem to get colds at the most inopportune times? But I have made some headway in the process.

First off, I moved some furniture around up in my sewing studio...

...and now I have seating areas ...

Fun Happenings at the House from Jo's Country Junction

For those of you new here on the blog I’m going to do a quick recap before I tell everyone the latest news with the house.  Kramer and I bought a foreclosure house back in August of 2013.  Here it is…

I was ready for us to own our own home and with Kramer being a stubborn and insisting that we live close to the farm and with him being super cheap, this was the best I could get him to commit to.  Seriously…  $24,000 was the amount I could get him to put into the house..and ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Moving Day Has Come And Gone... from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Sorry for the silence this week, but I'm back again with something to whoop about!  Good thing, too, since it's Friday and time for us to get our whoop whoop on, right?  So let's get started!

Well, this was moving week, and we are finally sleeping in our new home!  Tuesday dawned bright and early (ok, well it was actually rainy but it felt bright!) and I got something I've been wishing for for years...

I got minions!!!

And after a full day of moving stuff out of one house and into another, I ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Things Are Improving! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Friday has rolled around once again (can you believe it's the last day of January already?) and we all know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop-whoop on!  Let's get started....

It's been a busy week of packing and moving, and I'm finally starting to see some headway!  This week the kitchen went from this... this!  I'm so much happier with the color now, and I think I can even learn to love the black glass backsplash.  Good thing, because I really don't want to put ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Fun Week! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a long week, but it's finally here - Friday!  And we all know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Let's get started!

It's been a busy week around here, with lots of "new home" tasks to do and lots of packing going on.  But I did manage to get in some fun...

I finished a quilt (more on this one next week)...

...spent some fun time with this little monkey, who put on eye shadow to go to the movies....

...shared some Starbucks with this ...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Life Is Good! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

The end of the week has rolled around once again, and with it, time for us to do some whooping it up!  I hope you're ready - it's been a big week around here and I know I am!  Let's get started...

When I started this week I didn't think I'd be able to find anything "whoop-worthy" for this Friday's post.  Boy was I wrong!  First of all, in between all the packing and cleaning and decluttering I did this week, I found time to finish something...

I'm really loving this pretty ...

Make-A-List Monday - Oops! Tuesday! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Monday has come and gone - and I missed writing my post on time, so I am up early early early on Tuesday trying to get it done!  My Monday disappeared in a flash of unexpected activities (more on that later) and ended up with an ornament exchange party and a long drive home in the pouring rain.  Here's hoping Tuesday will be a little less eventful!

But let's get down to the nitty-gritty, and see how last week's list went...

1.  Make some samples for the Joann's class open house this weekend.
Done!  I ...

Organizing My Space from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve slowly been making a few changes around the kitchen and laundry room.  It all started after one day in town when I overheard some ladies talking about their kitchen and counter space.  That got me thinking about my own space.  I’ve been living here at the house for almost five years.

When we moved in we didn’t have all the cabinets in the laundry room or shelving in the closets.  When we did get them, I just put the leftover stuff in them and didn’t really think much about it.

Well now that Kramer passed ...
