The Butterfly Dance from Adele Mogavero

This piece of music was composed for my Grand-daughter. When she was born, there was much rejoicing in our home!! Just picture a little girl twirling and skipping through a field of daisies. Sweet and precious. Much like a butterfly, poetry in motion. The Butterfly ....

Composing Not What I Saw Myself doing from Adele Mogavero

Composing music isn’t what I set out to do when I started taking piano lessons. It was the last thing on my mind. In fact, I didn’t think it was something I could even do. That thinking all changed one Sunday afternoon at church. I ....

God Within – Piano Music And Quilts from Adele Mogavero

Going Down a Rabbit Hole of Music from From My Carolina Home

As much as I have enjoyed binge watching some shows lately, I’ve run out of scripted shows that are capturing my interest.  This past week we watched a couple of music documentaries that have been very interesting on Netflix.  The documentary on Quincy Jones was pretty good, and gave an amazing portrait of his 70 year career in music across many different genres.  There is also a great show on Clive Davis, the extraordinary record producer who discovered and nurtured some of the most amazing talent of the 70s and beyond.  The documentary on the Eagles was outstanding, but ...

Back to Napier for Art Deco Festival from Romany Quilting

After staying for a few days in rural Maraekakaho, south of Hastings, the next stop on our ICA rally was to Napier for the Art Deco Weekend.   The Art Deco Trust puts together a very full programme,  and as first time attendees, everything was new to us.  The highlight to us was the vintage car parade, with 300 pre-1946 cars registered.   We spent some time admiring these beauties as they awaited the start of the parade.  How did the passengers clamber up into those dickey seats and get settled while dressed to the nines, I wonder?

TERVen On Their Minds from Nina Paley

Sung by Judy Handmaiden

My mind is clearer now.
At last all too well
I can see where we all soon will be.
If you strip away
The myth from the men,
You will see where we all soon will be.
Woman!
They’ve started to believe
All that postmodern woo.
They really do believe
their genders could be true.
And all the rights you’ve won
Will soon be swept away.
Reality now matters less
Than the things they say.

Listen Woman I don’t like what I see.
All I ask is that you listen to me.
And ...
