Good morning! It's Monday morning and while you're reading this, I'm probably at the gym in spin class!
Mondays are such a great day! A new week and lots of plans to get things done! I'm going on a retreat this week and so have been busy getting things prepped for 5 days of sewing. I don't think I even turned my sewing machine on. Not that I need to prep, I think I still have a couple of bags of projects packed from when I was in PEI for one month in 2015!

Yes - you read that right! I'm finished my January UFO. Well, as finished as I wanted to get it. The backing is done, the top is complete and the binding is made. It's in the stack of "to be quilted" and I'm OK with that. I thought it would be fun to throw it on the long arm, but I have other things to do so it will just have to wait.
The important thing - the January UFO is DONE!

How quickly time marches on! I had a tuffet class yesterday and today was spent getting blog posts ready for QUILTsocial. There wasn't a minute of time to work on my own projects. But next weekend looks very promising!
I have this calendar with a daily inspiration quote and there are some great ones so I'm saving them to put in my Task Master for inspiration. I'm not stock piling them or hoarding them. I'm using them.
It doesn't matter that you didn't get all the things done on your Task master ... read more
It's raining this morning. I knew traffic was going to be a hassle and I wanted to leave early. I'm zipping down the highway and hadn't had breakfast yet so I was getting hungry. Then I remembered that I had a package of licorice in my backpack. Could I reach it from the driver's seat? Then I realized that I had NOT loaded the backpack into the car this morning. So what did that mean? My laptop was at home!!!! It took a bit to backtrack, but went home, got the backpack and the laptop and ...read more
It's Motivational Monday again. A very exciting day. Many people are not that fond of Monday - it's the end of the weekend, it's back to work. For me, Monday has been a very exciting day for many years as that is my sewing day. Well now that I work full time, it's not technically a full sewing day, but it's all about sewing as I do get to spend a bit of time first thing in the morning with the sewing group and then off to work which is always exciting.
Today is even more ...
So how is everyone doing with their Task Master? I have to say that mine is yelling at me. I'm getting loads done, but I seem to be in a bit of a crisis mode and so a couple of things that I wrote down are not getting done. And every weekend I say, NEXT weekend I'll have nothing urgent and I can catch up. Hmmm - doesn't always work like that.
I did make good progress this past week. What did I accomplish??? Well, I finished off the five blog posts for QUILTsocial. If you didn't ...
Good morning everyone!!! Hopefully, we're all still on track to get our January project completed? I see from some of the postings that people have finished their January projects and had to find something else to do for the remainder of the month. Doesn't that feel good to get those projects off our plate and guilt free move to something else?
I haven't had a chance to monitor the Facebook page much this week, but I did see that many projects were accomplished. I'm back home tonight so will have a bit more time to get ...
I've mentioned before that I am pretty terrible about keeping up with quilt-a-longs and such, but I am hoping that I can get better with than in 2017. So that is Goal #1.
Goal #2 is to keep up with the "Motivational Monday" exercises from Crazy Quilter on a Bike (I wrote about her on my last post ...
If you're going to be appalled by sheer numbers of UFOs, then I advise you to NOT read this post.
This is a bonus post for the Motivational Monday group. In light of trying to get things done, one must take stock of what needs to be done and that makes it easier to prioritize. Basically, it's a super organizing tool. Put "like" things together, then find storage, catalague, priortize and get the stuff done!
Here's the deal, I'm a prolific piecer. I've taught quilting for almost 20 years and as a result, made MANY ...
Can you believe it's almost 2017? That means we're about to step our quilting into high gear and get motivated and get things done! I've been at it for a month now and I'm so happy and learning lots. And getting lots done!
To recap, we have created a list of 12 UFOs that, in addition to our day to day quilting, we would LOVE to get off our plate. You have chosen ONE of those UFOs for January. And you have been careful to pick a project that will fit your January schedule. Choosing to ...
Lately I have taken a good look around at all the stuff and supplies that I have and said "no more"!
Just about that time I found the Crazy Quilter on a Bike blog and her "motivational Monday" posts. (The link goes to her latest entry.)
Now, I will be the first to admit that I do not have a great track record of posting on quilt-alongs, weekly round-ups, link-ups, this blog, etc., etc.
BUT, her process seems to be striking a chord with me. . . .and it ...
I recently had a conversation with someone who said they would love to have a secretary. Yes, while that would be nice, I would rather have a wife! Someone to keep track of my life and do the nasty jobs for me. WAIT - I don't do nasty jobs (I'm very spoiled). So what I truly need is a secretary. While that isn't going to happen, I'm trying something new this year and I've nicknamed it The Task Master.
Before I get to that, I want to recap where we are. The intent of the Motivational ...
Good morning - today is the day! We're all going to take a pledge that we WILL get our sewing areas under control, we WILL complete UFOs in 2017. How much we're going to complete depends on our level of motivation. I'm VERY motivated. Hopefully you are too and together we're going to get a lot done this year.
Today, it's all about choosing that dirty dozen. Those 12 projects that you WILL get completed in 2017. Now, here's where you're allowed to bend the rules. Perhaps you only have three projects, perhaps you ...
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. In my case, my life seems to revolve around quilting and so today is the first day of an improved quilting life. I'm ready to stand up and shout to the world - "My name is Elaine. I'm addicted to quilting and I have an obsession that needs to be contained."
I'll start with a bit of background. If you've been following my blog, you know that I have so MANY UFOs that need to be completed. I won't embarrass myself by posting ...
What happened to the weather? It's a tad chilly out there and I'm grateful that I don't have children who want to see the Santa Claus parade today. Miss Lexi and I were at the dog park for 45 minutes and let's just say there's a bit of wind chill in the air this morning. She couldn't have cared less. Me? I was cold!
I'm dead serious about this completing 12 projects for next year. I'm going to do what I can to make that happen - even if they are the only ...
