2 NOVEMBRE from appunti patch

May Day ~ Memories from From the Strawberry Patch...

Happy May Day! A new month, reason to celebrate; we made it through April! I had an "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" moment this morning. When I spoke with my Dad on the phone today he told me that my grandparents' former home (I grew up living next door to my grandparents) is being remodeled and that a large addition is going on, as well as an in-ground swimming pool. He learned this from a

Quarantine quilt from Meena Schaldenbrand

Memories
The object of inspiration of this weekly challenge is the tennis shoe.
It is embroidered with cancer ribbons on my late husband's lab coat pocket that shattered our big dreams of the rest of our lives together.

We used to go for hour long walks daily for almost 4 decades to enjoy the fresh air, discuss the day's events and share laughs.
I miss him so much as I now walk alone.

The two combined weekly challenges that inspired this quilt is Textile Artistry week 2, Memories, and

Everything Old is New Again! from HummingBird Quilter

I decided to get a jump on New Year’s resolutions and began organizing my fabric stash. Since I haven’t done much garment sewing since I started quilting (nearly 20 years ago) I decided to start with the fabric normally used for that purpose ie. non-cotton fabrics. I came across a pattern         that I had cut out and embroidered when I found out that I would become a grandmother for the first time (More than 28 years ago!!).

My daughter had decided on a carousel theme for the nursery. I embroidered a carousal horse and when we learned that ...

UN SOGNO from appunti patch

virtual cookie exchange, day two . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

That's MEEEEEE!
I love hops . . . it's such an easy-peasey way to visit other bloggers and gain new ideas on a central theme.  Fresh perspective, if you will!  I especially enjoy participating in blog hops that Carol, over at Just Let Me Quilt organizes.   She does such a great job!  Thanks, Carol!

Our family has always baked our way through the holidays.  We love the tried and true, but we also love to experiment and try new, fun things.  I'm always looking for ways to include the grandgirls so that they grow up appreciating the baking traditions and ...

Playing Catch-Up from From the Strawberry Patch...

No, I haven't dropped off the planet.  We've been gone though; we traveled to New England to visit family the week before last and it seems as though I have been playing "catch-up" ever since. We happened to be gone during the time of the return to standard time; this was Hannes' reaction, he fell asleep while waiting at his dinner dish, at 3:30 PM! We had a good time being away, although the

The Pearl Anniversary from Coloradolady

Today my husband and I celebrate the Pearl Anniversary, or thirty years together. Someone said to me once that if they made it to thirty years with their
spouse it would be an accomplishment. I guess in some ways it is, but for me, it is more about sticking to a promise to tough it out in good times and bad.

Leading up to this day for the past week, I have thought about advice I'd give a couple just starting out. There are so many important things I could tell a young couple about all the good things ...
