Merry Christmas from Terificreations's Weblog

Merry Christmas dear Ones! I’d hoped to blog before now. It’s been a very long time since I’ve gone a whole week without sharing something with you. I shared this post on A Quilters Heart that almost catches you up, at least on this last week. While it’s been a bit of a doozie and… Continue reading Merry Christmas

A new idea.... block of the month anyone? from Claire Passmore

As you may have noticed, many of the quilts I make can be about subjects that are a bit intense. The subjects are always important to me and I research them carefully before I start work, but it can be a bit depressing. So to lighten the mood it is nice to mix things up a bit and make something fun and lighthearted too.

Each year I make one or more small quilts for the Midsomer Quilting 12 x 12 challenge. You can read more about it here. Their challenge is open to anyone with some sort of link to ...

What three years of saying no to new clothes looks like from Stitch and Yarn

Colour combo love. My half-thrifted, half-handmade PJs
I got quite a shock when I went back through my posts to see when I basically stopped buying new clothes... It was January 2015 – three and a half years ago! No wonder things are starting to get dire in places. I haven't gone back to the audit document a lot, but it would be interesting to see whether it's decreased much in size. I am really pleased that the quilt I have been working on for quite some time now is finally finished. Yesterday I stitched on the hanging sleeves and put on the label. It is now ready to submit to the exhibition I have made it for (more on that later).

Goddess or Sex-object? Claire Passmore ©2018 Size: 24" x 41"

There was a slight false finish though, which delayed me just a little longer! As I was pinning the quilt to the design wall ready to photohraph,  despite my very best efforts to get the whole quilt square, it quickly ...

Slow but positive progress from Claire Passmore

One week on and this is the progress I have made. It took a lot of thinking about how I want the finished quilts to look. The last group of faces I made were mostly colourless, or very lightly coloured. For these quilts I decided I want to add a new dimension, and colour is going to be my focus.

Over this past week  I have spent a lot of time trying different colour palettes; from realistic to complete fantasy. The image above is what I have decided to go for. It is interesting that in this photo they left ...

knitting socks | finished. Week 21 or something. from unsophisticated Jejune

IMG_4216

Y A Y !

I finished the socks!

erm…I did actually finish them about two weeks ago, but I was too overwhelmed with new job training and new friend dating ( I found a fellow textiles lover at work! ) to even think about words and typing. But you don’t mind about that, I’m sure! I can fully say that I am living it up like a proper Portlander now and it is just great. I swear I’m going to start yoga soon, then I will be the ultimate Portland resident! Just you wait. I did see a pattern ...
