What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I am trying to wrap up all of my mail into this one post.  I was so busy sending mail out from the last two auctions and have sent over 40 quilt tops out, that I’ve gotten behind on mail…and sadly, it got a little unorganized.

As always, I’m hoping I do this right.

This…I know I got right.  My blog friend Maxine who is a reader here on the blog and I end up corresponding with quite regularly did something super sweet for me.

She made me all of these cute, cute, cute, beagles dogs ...

My mailbox is booming.  I had two packages one day…on the next and them more and more.

The first package was from Pauline.  When I felt the package my immediate thought was that I didn’t order a book.  Then when I opened it I saw that sweet blog reader Pauline thought of me and sent me a phone book.  I’ll be using that to sew some string blocks.  THANKS!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, I use telephone books as foundation papers for making string blocks.  They are excellent for that.

The next package came ...

I was trying to get this mail all opened and processed the night before Baptism for Eli and Emmett.  I thought I was doing so good with it but two days later when I was writing this post…I’m not so sure.

Of all of the posts, writing the mail posts are by far the hardest for me.  So many packages come.  It takes a long time to go through and sort things plus the pictures taken and formatted for the post…and then there is keeping track of it all.

“Out of the blue today, I received a box in the mail from Joann C. in CA. What a surprise!! Inside was a really nice cut of puppy footprint fabric. over 4 yards worth. I need to look to be sure, but I think I have a top with puppies and dogs on it. Wouldn’t that be cute together! She also sent 5 beautiful quarantine tops that she made.

Mail has been coming in on a steady stream lately.  I have an opportunity to be going south of my home soon.  That means I can stop in the Oelwein area and drop things off with Sandra.  If you follow the blog you might think of Sandra of the Cresco ladies but it’s not.  This is another amazing Sandra who also works to make charity quilts for the people in her area.  You can find this Sandra as #8 on the list of people/groups to send your donations to on the donation page.  You can find that HERE ...

Mail is flooded in and covering my kitchen and entryway.  I’m eager to tell you about it and find homes so I can have my kitchen back.  HA!!

The first package was quilt tops and they were from Charlet.  She wrote, “Thanks so much for doing this!  I have more if these work out for you.  Just let me know.”

I have a mail call from me and from Ray today.  First up is Ray’s mail.

“I wanted to take a few minutes to update you with some great mail that I received.

The first package came from Debbie M. in Millbrook, AL. She sent me several pieces of fabric that will be great to use as backings. I really like the fall colors on a couple of the plaids. Boy has mail ever been flooding in.  I don’t know that I’ve ever had so much mail.  I’m thankful I had a little time off taking care of Georgia as I would not have been able to manage it all otherwise and honestly, I didn’t manage it the best.

Case in point, I don’t know who sent this box.  It could have been anonymous, it could have been Penni, it could have been any other person.  I don’t know.  I opened the box before the babies came home from the hospital on a regular ...

If you remember last week I told you I have a lot of mail.  I certainly did.  This is part two from last week.

MaryAnn sent some great quilt tops.  I contact Julie in Spring Valley and asked her if she would be interested in finishing them.  She was.  I’m going to get Kelli to drop them by on one of her visits to see the boys.  Spring Valley is right on the way to Rochester.

I am off for a week of writing blog posts about the mail and then I get overloaded with mail.  I had been doing good at keeping up and then with the birth of the twins, I got behind.  This is going to be a long post…

The first package for today came from “Longtime Blog Reader”.  That made me smile to see that in the return address!!

Inside was a UFO project.  I need to take a minute and see how these blocks go together.  I have a local lady who is in her 90s.  She loved finishing UFOs ...

I did get as much mail as usual in the last week.  I’m not complaining…just saying that this post will be shorter than some of my typical mail posts.

Blog reader Elaine sent some beautiful tops.  I found a finisher and these are already at her house.  That was QUICK!

These are all great and closer to large lap-sized.

Rosie was doing her thing and really wanted to be involved it the taking of these pictures.  I’m wondering if Elaine had a dog and the quilts had dog smells.  Whatever it was, I couldn’t keep Rosie ...

I wanted to share with you the goodies that have been coming to my mailbox.  The first actually came to my email.

You might remember Eve as the lady in France that was working on teaching others to quilt.

Eve writes:  “Thank you for relaying my request for our Charity quilts.  I received a very generous donation from Jeanne. The fabrics are beautiful and they make my heart sing.  We will start with 2 quilts: one queen size and one for kids.”

Wasn’t that a nice package to sent to Eve and her fellow quilters?  THANKS, Jeanne for supporting ...

My mail continues to be busy lately.  I’ve gotten in wide variety of things that are so fun to look at and sort through.

Laurie in WA sent a great box of goodies.  Check out all of the calico prints.  I ended up saving most of this for myself.  I have plans for it.  You’re probably going to have to wait a year before you see what I’m going to do…but I’m excited about it!!

This package came from Amy in NH.  It was a long narrow box so everything was rolled up.  It was fun to unwrap it.  There were so many goodies…see?

Blues…check out the two fabrics in the front.  Those are Kaffe prints I think.

There were several bold prints that I’m guessing will end up being baby quilt backings.

There was a lighthouse panel along with newsprint fabric in purple.  Amy said if there was something that interested me to keep ...

Oh, my word…mail has been flooding in.  Just a week ago, I was about caught up except for some letters and small packages.  I have a ton to share with you now.  I’m wondering if a bunch of you are having a little case of spring fever and are doing some spring cleaning.

Starting with box #1 is a box from Minnesota.  There was no full name on the box.

I have stacks of mail to share with you all.  I am way behind on posting about it.  It seems mail goes in streaks.  I have a lot and then none.  After the Halloween fabric, there was no mail for a bit.  There was a box or two and I set them aside as there wasn’t enough to make a whole blog post.  Well, then I ended up opening the boxes and taking pictures.  I even had it all in a blog post but somehow that blog post that I started disappeared.  I went back and I think I ...

I’ve had lots of packages come my way lately.  Some have come via the mail, some to my door.

Laura in VA sent the first box.  It was filled with great goodies.

These looked to be like backing leftovers.  I love getting them.  I often add them to another piece of backing to make it big enough.  I didn’t keep these though.  I’m pretty set for the backing. I know others are always in need of big pieces for the backing so I passed them on.

I’m working hard to catch up on all of the mail.  I know it will be fleeting and that’s okay but I did want to make an effort to catch up.

The first letter I got anonymously.  It contained a sweet note along with a little cash to help out the postage fund for charity quilts.  I’m guessing the reader who sent it is from the San Diego way according to the stamp.  THANKS!!

Lisa in Indiana also sent a lovely card and a check that I am depositing into the postage fund.  This was so sweet ...

I’m trying something new with my mail.  I’m not opening it.  Well, I’m opening it but not right away when it comes.  I stack it up until there is enough there to write a blog post.  Do you know how hard it is not to open it?

I’m doing it because I am trying to limit mail posts to one per week and I’m doing it because too often I misplace the note that went with a box and people aren’t properly credited.
